Downer Girl Friend

I quickly put on my shoes and run towards the school gate. As I go out of the school gate, I see a girl waiting for me with a bored look on her face.

“Thank you for waiting!”

“…you’re late.”

“Sorry. I got something to do.”

I put my hands together and apologized to her.

Then she sighed and forgave me… Yeah, she always forgives me no matter what.

Iko and I are now really close friend, but we are not always this close from the beginning.

What made us really close with each other is actually quite trivial.

It all began from the first year of high school.

The person who sat next to me was Miyoshi Iko.

‘Hello, nice to meet you.’

‘…hi.’

With that one word, the conversation was over.

‘Is this even a conversation?”

I thought so to myself.

At first, I had an impression of her that she is a downer and dark girl.

But it was not for long.

As we got to know each other, we found ourselves attracted to many things in common, such as our shared love for games. Then when we got to know each other further, I found out that she is a great cook and I even find her charming in her own way.

‘You don’t enjoy being with me, do you?’

That was Iko’s favourite question to ask me.

‘I’ll ensure you that I enjoy being with you and make you happy so that you don’t have to worry about it.’

‘Hmm, that’s a lot of confidence.’

‘Of course, I’m used to it. You can just be who you are in front of me.’

I realized that I made a big show of it, but I secretly thought that I was really cool when I said so to her.

After I ensure Iko that I enjoy being with her, she stopped asking me that question.

Our relationship did not change even when we got to the second year and got into separate classes.

It’s probably the reason that later caused us to have sex three times.

And now the story returns to the present.

“So, why did you suddenly ask me to go home with you?”

“Well, that’s…let’s talk while we go to the ramen shop, shall we?”

“A bowl of ramen with extra pork and topped with an onsen egg. It’s your treat.”

The reason why I ask her to go home with me is because I have a favour to ask her.

When we left the school gate and walked for a while, I told Iko why I asked her to go home with me today.

“…what? You want me to go out somewhere with your male friend alone? In short, you’re asking me to go on a date with your friend?”

Iko asks me so.

“Ah, I see. That sounds great…!”

“Ouch!”

Iko suddenly chops my head.

Yoriko does not have a very bright personality and she is not good at socializing. However, she has good looks that easily covers it.

She has big and bright eyes, small cute nose and pretty face. She has black hair with some blue highlight in a wolf cut, giving her a rather boyish impression.

Iko doesn’t know this, but she is quite popular at school.

‘I’m begging you Touya. I know it’s nothing to do with you, but please I’m in love with Miyoshi-san…I don’t think I can give up my feelings toward her. That’s why I’m begging you to set up a date for us!’

When Iko graduates from high school, she will no longer be with me and she will need to meet new people. It would be better for her to get used with guys by the time comes, even if only a little.

And if I follow them on their date, her safety will be guaranteed.

“I don’t want to interrupt your date with him…besides Iko, you should at least interact with another guy than me. We might go our separate ways after we graduate high school, you know?”

I said so laughingly, but Iko’s face seems sullen. Is she angry…?

“Let’s not go to the ramen shop.”

“Eh, then what about a family restaurant?”

“No, let’s go to my place.”

“Eh, hey wait…”

Iko forcefully pulls my hand and takes me to her home.
