“Hey, do you want to go out to the balcony to sober up a little?”

“Yeah, sure.”

I lent her a helping hand as she was having some trouble walking properly and then we headed off to the balcony.

The summer night breeze was just right and comfortable to feel as it gently swept across my face.

Nami-san leaned against the railing and looked up at the night sky.

“Look Seiji-kun, I can see the Milky Way over there.”

My gaze followed to where she was pointing at. I looked at the beautiful starry night sky.

“Wow…”

“It’s so beautiful.”

“Yes, it is.”

The clear starry night sky was too dazzling and we could look at several constellations and the Milky Way.

It has been two years since I had looked up at the sky properly like this. Last time was when I was with my mother.

I wondered if my mother was among those bright sparkling stars.

I’m sure my mother would be the best… among those stars.

Oh, no. Remembering her is making me teary again…

“I want to see you, Mom..…”

“Seiji-kun…”

Nami called my name and hugged me.

That embrace was gentler and warmer than any I had ever received.

“Whenever you feel like crying when you think of your mother, just jump into my arms. I don’t think I can take the place of your mother, but what I can at least do is accept your sorrow.”

When Nami-san said those words, I couldn’t bottle up my tears anymore and I cried hard.

I cried for so long that I couldn’t even remember how long we have been in this position.

All the while, Nami-san gently patted my head to relieve me from the sorrow.

“He fell asleep…”

When we returned to the living room, Seiji-kun laid down on the sofa and began to doze off

He fell asleep so quickly that I began to doubt he was faking it. But he was indeed tired from all of it, and was now snoring adorably.

I was completely sobered up by the summer night breeze and gazed at his cute profile.

“Fufu~ Your sleeping is so cute.”

His sleeping face was so cute that I couldn’t hold myself back from taking his pictures.

Recently as well in the morning I took lots of pictures of his sleeping face in the car.

“Today was really fun~”

It was definitely the most enjoyable day of my life.

We watched a movie, ate dinner, held hands, walked in the park, talked a lot, teased each other, made each other embarrassed, had a home-cooked meal, drank some drinks, watched the Milky Way, and what was supposed to be a celebration of Seiji-kun’s birthday turned out to be a happy day for me.

“Seiji-kun is so sly to make me so happy! This makes it even more difficult for me to leave you alone♡”

Of course I have no intention of leaving or letting him go.

“Well, it’s time to go to bed. Ah! The present…”

I had completely forgotten to give him the present I prepared myself.

Let’s put it on the side table near him for now.

“I’m sure Seiji-kun will be surprised tomorrow morning~”

Imagining Seiji-kun’s surprised face, I couldn’t help but grin.

After putting away the empty cans and snacks from the side table, I went back to my house to get the present.

I returned back to Seiji-kun’s house with the present and gently placed it on the side table.

Originally, I should have gone home by now, but a thought suddenly came up in my mind.

The owner of this house, i.e., Seiji-kun, is sleeping right now, and I don’t know where the keys are. This means if I go back and leave the house as it is, then the house will remain unlocked till tomorrow morning.

There is only one way to prevent that.

I thought to myself that I had come up with a good excuse.

Besides, this way I could see Seiji-kun’s surprised face tomorrow morning.

So, after locking the front door of his house and decided to sleep in the living room. I would have loved to sleep with him, but there seemed to be no room on the sofa.

I laid face down on the side table and closed my eyes.

Sleepiness soon overtook me and I mumbled, “I’ll be in your care from now on, Seiji-kun~♪” and then I wandered off to the dreamlands.
