The Case of Me, a Guy With Zero Dating Experience, Getting Mistaken for a Stalker by the Angel I Fell for at First Sight, Only to End Up Living Together With Her in a Harem Share House With a 1:9 Gender Ratio - Chapter 7: Seijo University
Chapter 7: Seijo University
Seijo University is a top-tier institution in Japan for information systems and AI research.
Yuuki is majoring in the AI Information Systems course at this university.
This course covers information systems in general and the technology to apply AI in the field of information systems.
In today’s AI world, LLMs (Large Language Models) are the mainstream.
These are generative AI models that learn from vast amounts of text data to produce and understand human-like natural language.
LLMs can generate text, translate languages, and even produce program code for information systems.
Today, in the “Prompt Engineering” class, Yuuki and Kojiken were listening intently to the lecturer.
The instructor, Professor Yoshinaga, is a leading figure in AI application research in Japan.
“Prompt Engineering is the technique of giving appropriate instructions, or prompts, to an LLM to achieve the desired output. AI performs various processes based on the prompts provided by humans.”
Wearing black-rimmed glasses and sporting a white beard, Professor Yoshinaga, despite his wild appearance, spoke to the students in a gentle tone.
“For example, it can handle tasks like text generation, translation, summarization, and question-answering. However, since AI processes based solely on the given information, the results may not always meet expectations depending on the prompt’s content. That’s where Prompt Engineering comes in.”
Professor Yoshinaga paused, slowly scanning the students’ faces.
Despite his gentle tone, his sharp gaze seemed to check if anyone’s focus had wavered.
“In Prompt Engineering, we aim to maximize AI’s capabilities by understanding its characteristics and crafting appropriate words, expressions, and structures. Prompt Engineering is an indispensable skill for effectively utilizing AI.”
Stroking his prized beard, Professor Yoshinaga continued.
“For instance, if you tell an image-generating AI, ‘Draw a cat,’ you can’t predict what kind of cat picture it’ll produce. But if you specify, ‘Draw a calico cat playing in a garden in a watercolor style,’ the AI can create an image closer to your vision. Thus, Prompt Engineering is a crucial technique for unlocking AI’s full potential and achieving the results we intend.”

After class, Yuuki and Kojiken headed to the campus cafeteria.
“Yuuki, Professor Yoshinaga’s lecture was easy to follow, huh?”
“Yeah, I really understood how the quality of prompts is key to maximizing generative AI’s performance.”
“Right? I was shocked at how different the AI’s output was just by changing the prompt.”
“That’s why giving the right instructions is so important.”
“Figuring out which words and order to use through trial and error is kinda fun.”
“Yeah, especially in system development, the quality of prompts affects code generation, debugging, and code review, so it’s even more critical.”
With Japan’s aging population and declining birthrate, programmer shortages are becoming severe, leading to active research in using generative AI to write programs and boost productivity.
Without precise instructions, generative AI can’t produce the intended program.
Yuuki dreams of working in system development using AI in the future.
For that, ‘Prompt Engineering’ is an essential skill for him.

Seijo University’s cafeteria is a massive space with 36 food stalls—Japanese, Western, Chinese, Italian, udon, soba, café, fast food, and more—surrounding a central seating area that can hold up to 800 people.
Yuuki and Kojiken grabbed their lunch trays and sat at a nearby table.
“Kojiken, mackerel miso set meal again?”
“Yuuki, the mackerel miso here is top-notch. The umami of the mackerel, the spicy miso’s perfect balance, plus you get DHA and EPA. Here, try a bite.”
“I’m good, I wanna focus on my curry.”
“What’s with you and curry every day?”
“Curry’s the national dish, so it’s fine to eat it daily.”
Yuuki is an avid curry lover.
“National dish, my ass… Geez… By the way, Yuuki, how’s the new place?”
“Well… it’s new, spacious, and clean… I guess.”
“That sounds awesome. Your sister-in-law owns that share house, right? Did she cut you a deal on rent?”
“Yeah, she waived the contract fee as a family discount. Rent, including utilities, was 70,000 yen, but she lowered it to 50,000.”
“Wow, that’s cheap. There are girls living there, right?”
“Y-Yeah…”
“How many?”
“Eight… I think.”
“Eight?! Yo, are there any cute girls among them?”
Kojiken’s eyes gleamed.
“Well, some are older, so ‘cute’ might not be the right word, but I think they’re all beautiful.”
“That’s the dream, man! So, how many guys?”
“Just me, for now.”
“What?! One guy and eight girls… That’s a harem!”
Kojiken, a proud virgin like me with a ‘no-girlfriend-since-birth’ record, is always desperate for female attention.
“Kojiken, you can say that ‘cause you’ve never seen the true nature of women.”
Yuuki recalled the relentless questioning he endured from two older girls last night.
“Yuuki… Any vacant rooms in that share house?”
“It’s fully occupied right now.”
“Yeah, figures… No way a place that good would have openings…”
Kojiken nodded to himself.
“Then, can I come hang out at your place sometime?”
“No guys allowed except residents, so that’s a no-go.”
“Aw, c’mon, there’s gotta be some way!”
“Sorry, there isn’t.”
“That’s harsh, man.”
Kojiken clutched his head, swallowing his tears.
