- The Beautiful Girl Who Asked Me to Pretend to Be Her Boyfriend Didn’t Want to Break up With Me for Some Reason
- Chapter 6 - This Is Also a Proper Date
“Good morning, Hakuto.”
It was Saturday morning, the weekend.
Today was the day we had planned to stay over and go shopping for pajamas.
The person who came to visit me, after I had prepared breakfast and was waiting, was Shirafuji Luna, dressed in an outfit that clearly looked more formal and stylish than usual.
She wore a white long-sleeve blouse with puffed sleeves and a delicate lace trim at the cuffs.
She had on a navy high-waisted long skirt that reached her ankles, and a silver necklace with a moon-shaped charm hanging from a chain sparkled at her chest.
The gentle temperature of early June was perfect for this outfit.
The fact that her skin was mostly covered was probably intentional.
In one hand, she carried a bag with her overnight things packed inside.
It seemed like she had decided not to return to her room until after the stay.
“Come in, for now. You can just leave your bag anywhere.”
“Got it. Also, can you tie my hair for me?”
“Sure. Any preferences?”
“Keep it mostly like usual, a half-up, and curl the ends if you can.”
“Alright…but can’t you learn to do it yourself?”
“Isn’t it cute when I need help?”
I couldn’t deny it, and that was honestly frustrating.
After a bit of playful banter, Luna set her bag down and we headed to the bathroom.
I had her sit on a chair and started fixing her hair as she requested.
Touching her hair, which was like silk, still made me nervous, but after doing it a few times, I was getting better at it, and now I rarely mess up.
I used a curling iron to make loose waves and tied it up.
Though the style was the same as always, the curls made a big difference in the overall look.
“Does it look good?”
“Well, you have great hair to work with.”
“That’s not an answer.”
I had probably answered her question carelessly, so she puffed up her cheeks to show her displeasure.
I tried to calm her down, fixing my own hair and adjusting my clothes in the mirror as well.
I had already changed into casual clothes, though I didn’t care much about fashion. I had just bought what the mannequin was wearing the other day and wore it as it was.
I wore jeans and a white T-shirt, throwing on a black jacket. My hair was lightly styled, so it looked okay…I think.
Even though our relationship was fake, I couldn’t go out looking messy while being Luna’s “boyfriend.”
“Is there anything weird about my outfit?”
“No, it’s fine. What about breakfast? I’d like something light. It’d be embarrassing if my stomach growls.”
“I thought you might say that, so I made sandwiches.”
“You’re always so prepared, Hakuto.”
“I figured you hadn’t eaten yet.”
I knew Luna wouldn’t prepare her own breakfast since she came over almost every morning. It was just a guess, but it turned out to be correct.
I grabbed the plate of sandwiches I had made from the fridge and took them to the living room where Luna was waiting.
I had made two kinds: bacon, lettuce, and tomato, and egg.
Luna quickly grabbed the egg sandwich and began eating it like a little hamster with small bites.
I quietly picked at my own sandwiches while she finished hers.
After a short break, we grabbed what we needed and left the house.
Our destination was a shopping mall near a station a couple of stops away.
We needed to take the train, and though it wasn’t as crowded as rush hour, it was still packed since it was the weekend.
“Don’t let go of my hand. We’ll get separated, and someone might bother us.”
“It’s your job to lead, Hakuto. We’re on a date, after all.”
“Is this really a date…?”
“We’re going out together, so this counts as a proper date.”
She tightly held the hand I was holding.
Her slightly cold body temperature made me acutely aware of her presence.
Well, I thought, I couldn’t help it now. I already knew I couldn’t ignore Luna.
We bought two tickets, and after waiting for a few minutes at the station, the train arrived on time, but there were no available seats.
“Stand by the wall.”
Luna, picking up on my intention from my short remark, positioned herself with her back to the wall. I stood in front of her, inside the train, as a kind of protection.
This way, I could reduce the risk of her encountering any problems.
You can never be too careful, especially when someone as beautiful as Luna is around, and you never know when someone might get strange ideas.
The train made a loud noise as it started moving.
The ride was just two stops, a short distance, and I expected nothing to happen. However…
“Ah!”
The train suddenly slammed on the brakes.
With a high-pitched screeching sound, the train quickly slowed, and I grabbed Luna to stop her from falling, holding her in my arms.
“Are you okay?”
“…Thanks for catching me.”
Luna looked up at me, with a dissatisfied look in her eyes. I had some things I wanted to say, but I decided to hold back, thinking it was just a cute quirk of hers.
Her cuteness was an absolute pass for everything.
Once the train had fully stopped, I let go of Luna and stepped back, knowing I couldn’t keep holding her or I’d get weird looks from others.
“Attention, passengers. Due to a person on the tracks, train services are currently suspended. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
“It looks like it’ll take a while to get going.”
“It’s so annoying when something ruins a date.”
“I get it, but can you step back now?”
“…”
“Okay, okay. Do whatever you want.”
Luna didn’t let go, but I let her do as she pleased. If this would cheer her up, it was worth it.
I figured it was just a small sacrifice on my part, but deep down, I also knew I was probably beyond saving when it came to Luna.
I didn’t mind being held or her relying on me. It felt like a sign of trust, and I couldn’t bring myself to refuse her.
Though I didn’t want to do this in a crowded place, Luna’s possessiveness only made her more adorable in my eyes.
In the end, I realized I couldn’t go against her.
“Attention, passengers. The issue has been resolved, and we will soon be resuming service. We apologize for the delay.”
“Hakuto.”
“What now?”
“Until we get there, you should support me. It’s safer that way.”
“Am I your personal handrail?”
“You’re my special one, aren’t you?”
Luna said this without any malice. She moved a little away, grabbed the sleeve of my jacket, and leaned on me as the train started moving again.

I guess it’s better to stay close. It makes it harder for anyone to try anything, after all.
