- The Beautiful Girl Who Asked Me to Pretend to Be Her Boyfriend Didn’t Want to Break up With Me for Some Reason
- Chapter 5 - You're Too Skilled at This, It's Annoying
A month had passed since I started a fake relationship with ShirafujiLuna, and by then, she was spending her afternoons at my house.
The original goal had been to provide Luna with a proper dinner.
However, little by little, it turned into things like watching movies, playing games, or occasionally drying her hair after a bath, and Luna began to stay later and later.
At first glance, this might seem like a twisted life, but the truth was, we hadn’t done anything like that at all.
We had maintained a perfectly healthy relationship, as Luna expected from a fake boyfriend.
…However, I was still a normal guy.
“Shirafuji-san, you’re clinging even more than usual today. Is something bothering you?”
I asked, sitting behind her and holding her, without looking at her face.
Her soft body, everywhere I touched.
Her head, just inches away, giving off a faint, sweet fragrance.
Trying not to focus on those things… Luna, who kept holding and rubbing my hand, was showing one of her typical ways of being affectionate when she was in a bad mood.
“…I’m not upset because I remembered something bad someone said about Hakuto.”
“That’s easy to check, so it’s helpful.”
Luna’s voice clearly had a hint of dissatisfaction, but I almost laughed at the expected reason.
At the same time, I felt a warmth deep inside my chest.
“You should just ignore it. My face and the way those people thought about me won’t change.”
“…But, it’s frustrating. I know Hakuto’s face might be a bit scary, but you’re so caring, kind, and full of strength, you have so many good points…”
“Just the fact that you recognize that is enough for me.”
I truly felt that deep down.
Before, there was no one who cared for me like this, other than my family.
So, it was enough for me that Luna recognized me.
That said… Luna was just too cute.
It had been obvious that she was cute even before we started this fake relationship.
What I was talking about wasn’t just her appearance, but her inner self.
Luna used to be an excellent student and beautiful, but she never interacted with anyone, a solitary beauty.
She always had a cold atmosphere around her, and though it wasn’t as extreme as mine, she was someone difficult to approach.
But over time, while pretending to be my girlfriend, her atmosphere changed little by little.
What started as fake couple affection to show off had now become natural.
We started wanting to be together, not out of obligation, but because we wanted to.
Her cold attitude and words softened, and she began to reveal her true feelings, even if awkwardly.
I was aware that I was developing feelings for her that were inappropriate for a fake boyfriend.
Still, I didn’t want to ruin this comfortable, ambiguous, and distorted relationship.
Perhaps that was why I felt such an affection for her.
“But I’m a terrible woman, so I think I’ve gained something from this.”
“Like what?”
“Hakuto’s face scares other girls away, so my charm isn’t discovered.”
“……”
I was at a loss for words.
Luna’s words were filled with possessiveness.
It was a feeling that could easily lead to possessiveness or jealousy, and I was familiar with the latter.
Yet, I didn’t mind at all that Luna felt this way about me.
In fact, I felt an overwhelming sense of superiority, and that was what made it impossible to deny.
Even though our relationship was fake.
“By the way, I have one question.”
“What is it?”
“Doesn’t Hakuto get jealous when other people confess to me?”
The question came with a slight sharpness.
Thinking about her true intentions, I couldn’t remain calm.
Because, wasn’t this like her telling me she was dissatisfied with how I accepted the idea of her being confessed to?
“…It’s inevitable that you’ll get confessed to, and I’m not in a position to stop it.”
“I’m not saying that. You understand, don’t you?”
With a twist, she turned her waist and looked up at me with a pointed glance.
When she faced forward again, her chest pressed against my arm, her soft figure pressing against me.
My gaze fell involuntarily, burning the sight of her flawless skin and visible cleavage in my memory.
But, I secretly pinched my thigh to regain my composure and looked up again.
Her perfectly symmetrical face, now pouting, took my breath away.
Our gazes locked.
Her sky-blue eyes seemed to contain some frustration, but most of it seemed to be filled with affection for me… at least, that’s how it felt.
“We may be pretending to be a couple, but we’re still lovers. In that case, don’t you think you should show a little more obsession with me? Or is it that I’m not attractive enough for you to feel that way?”
“…There’s no way that’s true. You’re way too attractive for someone like me.”
“Then show me with the right attitude. Otherwise, I’ll think that I’m not needed by you.”
Luna gently placed her hand on my cheek.
It slowly slid down, her fingers leaving my chin and leaving a smile only in her eyes.
Looking at that smile, which was as beautiful as the moon, I thought.
After spending about six months with Luna, I realized she wasn’t as perfect as she acted at school.
She was hopeless with housework, and surprisingly clumsy with her hands.
And despite the cold attitude she showed at school, she was this sweet, spoiled girl.
However, when I thought about the reasons for all of this, I couldn’t blame her.
Luna seemed to have a bad relationship with her parents.
I heard this directly from her, and during parent-teacher conferences, I’d never once seen her parents come along.
Perhaps because of that dysfunctional family environment, her mental state was clearly fragile.
She instinctively craved someone, and she showed this side to even someone like me.
Her cold attitude was likely a shield to hide her vulnerabilities.
And this kind of sweetness was to comfort her own insecurities.
…But this was not the same.
“Do you want me to pet you?”
“Is that all? Do you think I’m such a simple girl that you can just fix my mood with the same trick?”
“Then what should I do?”
“Figure it out yourself.”
She turned back to face forward, annoyed.
After thinking for a moment, I wrapped my arms around her waist and held her gently.
Her warm but delicate back.
Luna knew very well that if I wanted to, I could do anything, yet she showed no resistance, trusting me completely.
Although, of course, I had no intention of doing anything like that.
“How’s your mood, princess?”
“…It’s annoying how good you are at this.”
I’d never had a girlfriend, so how could I be good at it?
My heart was racing.

Luna was satisfied, but if you looked closely, her face was all flushed.
