Chapter 46: Always Together
After finally understanding how I felt and confessing to Aira—
We ended up cuddling and flirting a little while she refused to let go of me,
All while I desperately tried to keep my very normal high school boy instincts in check.
Before I knew it…
Aira had dozed off again, her body leaning into mine.
…Honestly, stuff like this was totally normal back in the other world.
But now that we’re officially dating—yeah, I’m calling it that. I can call it that, right?
We’re basically a couple now.
And wow, this whole situation…
It has my heart pounding way more than anything we ever did before.
…Granted, it might also have something to do with what’s currently pressing against me.
…Anyway.
I should probably try to slip out of bed without waking her and make a quick trip to the bathroom.
Because honestly, if I just stay like this…
I’m not sure things are going to calm down.
Ever since we came back to this world—
No, even since I first met Aira—
I haven’t had any time alone to, y’know… take care of things myself.
So for the sake of my sanity…
Yeah, I need this.
And luckily, Nee-san still isn’t home.
…Okay, yeah, this isn’t working.
I can’t get out at all.
Aira, seriously—how strong is this girl’s grip!?
I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s kinda cute and all…
But now is really not the time.
Also, she’s supposed to be asleep, right?
So why can’t I get away from someone who’s unconscious!?
…Well, okay.
If I really tried, I could probably wriggle free.
But that might wake her up… or worse, I might hurt her.
So yeah. Not an option.
“…Nn… Hiroto… I love you… Don’t go anywhere…”
“—!”
Whoa!
That scared me—
…Oh. Just talking in her sleep.
Still, it felt like her grip tightened even more just now.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
I said that while gently stroking her head,
Then gave up completely on escaping.
I wrapped my arms around her and settled back into bed.
…Sure, maybe it’s a little early to sleep,
But I’m exhausted from today too.
And hey—
If I’m asleep, I won’t have to deal with any of those pesky urges.
“Good night, Aira.”
─────────────────────
I woke up.
Aira was still in my arms…
Except she wasn’t asleep.
Her eyes were wide open, and she was just quietly staring up at me from within my embrace.
“…Morning, Aira. You’re already awake?”
It caught me a little off guard,
But I figured it made sense—we went to sleep pretty early last night.
So waking up early wasn’t that surprising.
I greeted her casually—
But instead of replying, Aira just closed her eyes…
And gently puckered her lips toward me.
…Yeah, I know exactly what she wants.
But… this early in the morning?
W-Well… I mean…
We are a couple now, so… I guess it’s fine?
“…It’s morning, so… no tongue, okay?”
Just in case, I set that ground rule first—then leaned in and gave her a soft, gentle kiss.
“Hiroto, I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Hiroto… we can do it today, right?”
“…Well, since we didn’t do anything yesterday, I was actually thinking I should start getting ready for school…”
I used that excuse to dodge her question,
Then, still wrapped in her arms, I sat up in bed—
And gently laid Aira back down all on her own.
If she’s not asleep, then at least this much is doable.
