Chapter 49: The Abandoned Prince Visits the Lamia Settlement
Their upper bodies were human.
Their lower halves, long snake tails.
Lamia—on Earth, they were well-known as mythical monsters.
But in this world, I hadn’t seen any.
At least, I thought I hadn’t.
Turns out I was wrong.
Right now, I was completely surrounded by lamia women.
And every single one of them was beautiful.
That said, the atmosphere wasn’t exactly friendly.
Each one held a spear, staring at us like hunters eyeing their prey. Their eyes gleamed with dangerous excitement.
“Eek! W-What are they!?”
Hek trembled as she looked at the lamia.
Well, unlike Earth where people knew about lamia through stories and games, this world didn’t have that kind of background.
To someone seeing them for the first time, they really did look like terrifying monsters.
The lamia women looked at Hek—
But unlike the hungry stares they gave me, their eyes toward her were sharp… and cold.
Filled with hostility. Maybe even killing intent.
“Eek…”
“We don’t need the female. Kill her.”
Hek flinched and let out a small yelp.
“Don’t worry, the male over here’s safe.”
“Yeah. As long as you behave, we won’t treat you badly.”
“In fact, we’ll make you feel reeeally good~♡”
They showed off their curvy bodies and spoke with seductive smiles.
In response to their words, I—
Firmly raised my hand and shouted,
“—Yes, please!!”
I nodded with the biggest smile on my face.
Then Hek glared at me like she’d just seen something horrifying.
“H-Hey!! Are you serious right now!? Weren’t we supposed to be working together!?”
“Well… I mean, did you see those sexy ladies? No way I can turn them down…”
“Y-You piece of trash!! I knew I hated you!!”
Looks like Hek had finally snapped.
She lunged at me, grabbing my collar, and raised her fist.
But before she could actually punch me—
The lamia women shot her a sharp, threatening glare, and she slowly lowered her hand.
She clearly wanted to punch me with everything she had, but those stares from the lamia were too scary for her to actually do it.
Jeez… guess I have no choice.
“Um—ladies!! This girl here is my little sister!! I promise to behave, so could you please treat her kindly too!?”
““““……””””
The lamia all exchanged glances and started whispering among themselves.
They were too far away for me to hear what they were saying exactly…
After a moment, one of them stepped forward.
“Alright. If that girl stays quiet, we’ll guarantee her safety.”
“But in exchange, you’ll be staying in our village… for life.”
“Fufu, I can’t wait!! It’s been so long since we had a male—I’m gonna drain you dry, not a single drop left!!”
“Hey!! The Queen gets him first!!”
“But once she’s done with him, there won’t be anything left for the rest of us!”
And just like that, Hek and I were captured by the lamia women and taken to their village.
On the way there, I managed to get friendly with them and asked about their situation.
“Whoa, so lamia can’t give birth to males?”
“That’s right. That’s why we have to steal males from other races to make babies. But the creatures around here don’t have males either, so whenever someone rare does show up, the different tribes start fighting over him.”
“Wait, there are other races where only females are born?”
“Yes. There are four main tribes in this region. Us lamia, who control the eastern wastelands. The dark elves, who live around the dried-up lake to the west. The succubi, who dwell in the old demon lord’s territory up north. And the arachne, who nest in the forest of darkness to the south. There are others, but those are the famous ones.”
Lamia, dark elves, succubi, arachne… and more?
I seriously want to meet them all.
But apparently, the lamia are enemies with all the other tribes, so it doesn’t sound like I’ll get the chance.
Still, one thing they said really caught my attention.
“The old demon lord’s territory?”
“Oh? You’ve never heard of it? Long ago, there was a time when this land was full of green and life. That was hundreds of years ago.”
“This wasteland… used to be lush and green?”
“Hard to believe, right? I wasn’t born yet, so I’ve only heard stories, but I wish I could’ve seen it for myself. But then, one day, the Demon Lord appeared. Said he was taking this land for himself.”
The Demon Lord… huh.
When you think of typical otherworld stuff, it’s gotta be heroes and demon lords, right?
I mean, I wouldn’t want to live a super intense life like that… but I kinda get the appeal.
It sounds cool—like something you’d want to experience at least once.
“So then, was it something like… a hero tried to defeat the Demon Lord, but failed, and that’s why the land ended up like this?”
“Nope. The Demon Lord was apparently slaughtered by a goddess who showed up out of nowhere.”
“…Huh?”
A goddess took out the Demon Lord personally?
What popped into my mind was that big-breasted goddess who reincarnated me into this world.
But I remember her saying she doesn’t really interfere with the world directly.
So maybe this ‘goddess’ was just a title people gave to someone powerful back then?
I tilted my head, confused.
“But if the Demon Lord was defeated… then why did this place turn into a wasteland?”
“Oh, right. After the goddess killed the Demon Lord, she declared, ‘I’m the new Demon Lord now,’ and became the second generation. But then… her partner got assassinated.”
“…Wait, assassinated!?”
“Yep. And the second Demon Lord completely snapped. She burned the whole continent to the ground.”
“…”
For some reason, this whole story felt strangely familiar.
No way… right?
“And, um… what was the name of that second Demon Lord?”
“Fufu. No one dares speak that name aloud anymore, but I’ll tell you—just for you. The Demon Lord’s name was… Alcarion.”
“Bwah—cough cough!”
I was so shocked I ended up letting out a weird cough without meaning to.
Seriously? Alcarion…?
Back when I was kidnapped—if I hadn’t come back safe—would the whole continent have ended up a wasteland like this?
Alcarion’s really something else.
Now I couldn’t help but wonder…
What would these lamia girls say if I told them I’m actually the second Demon Lord’s husband?
While I was lost in thought, we finally arrived at the lamia village.
The buildings looked like something straight out of Japan’s Jomon period—pit-style houses dug into the ground.
But surprisingly, some had chimneys with black smoke rising from them.
…Wait, do they have ironworking technology?
The houses looked super primitive, but now the contrast was kind of blowing my mind.
“We’ll be locking your little sister in a cell for a while, just in case.”
“Ugh—d-don’t push me, you brute!! Do you even know who I am!?”
“Yes, yes~ this way~”
Hek was dragged off somewhere else, while I was guided toward the largest building in the village.
“The queen is inside. I’m sure she’ll like you, but whatever you do, don’t upset her, okay? The last guy who got cocky… ended up being squeezed dry until he died.”
“…That’s something.”
Shaking a little from what the lamia girl said earlier, I stepped into the building.
Inside, sitting gracefully on a chair, was a young woman.
She had stunning crimson-red hair—like autumn leaves.
She wasn’t wearing anything on her upper body, so, uh… everything important was in full view.
From the waist down, her long snake tail stretched out over ten meters.
Her beauty was honestly on a whole different level—easily ranking among the top of all the women I’ve met so far.
A true goddess-tier knockout.
But there was one thing that seriously bugged me.
“Whoooa? Rey!? Heyyy, long time no see! It’s your big sis~!”
“Ailynn!?”
“Yaaay, come drink with us!! C’mon, Michaela, you too~!”
“I-I’m already… ugh—”
“What? You lightweight. Getting drunk off just that?”
There she was.
Completely smashed.
Rosemary’s older sister.
Alcarion’s second daughter.
Ailynn—the drunkest, rowdiest girl I knew—was sitting there, all over the lamia queen like it was the most normal thing in the world.
