Declaration of War, Again
It was the first day of school after Golden Week. After school, I came to the library with Takane-san.
I borrowed the book she returned, and Takane-san borrowed the book I returned.
“What should we do today?”
“I wonder… Since we’re here, let’s study together.”
“Yes, I’d also like to talk to you… No, we shouldn’t be chatting in the library.”
Takane-san shushed and held up a finger to her lips. Even such a gesture was too cute – I was able to keep it out of my voice this time, but if this were to continue several times, my self-control would likely break down.
“…The lip balm, was it okay?”
“Lip… Ah… No, it was fine.”
Assuming she left a mark on my cheek, I still didn’t wipe it off immediately. No, I should have probably wiped it off, but I didn’t until I got home.
“…I’m glad they didn’t stick.”
“Y-Yeah…”
What an exchange in a sacred library! No, I didn’t know whether it’s sacred or not anymore.
“Nagito-san, this sound is…”
From somewhere, I heard a tune. It sounded like a guitar.
The song sounded familiar. It was the ending song of ‘Ao Riri’ sung by Takane-san and Asatani-san.
Were they playing music in the light music club? I didn’t hear any singing, even when the singing should come in. I wanted to see who was playing.
“Nagito-san, shall we call the study another day?”
“Yeah. Takane-san… No…”
“……?”
Sometimes my friends and, for some reason, my sister were ahead of me.
On the contrary, that meant I could do it any time I wanted – What an excuse to leave it at that!
Now, I thought I could naturally do it. I wanted to, so I followed my heart.
“Let’s take a look, Nozomi.”
Takane-san – No, Nozomi looked at me with a surprised face.
As the realization hit her, a single tear rolled down her cheek.
“I’m sorry… I’m happy… I didn’t know I could be this happy.”
“…There is more to it than that. There’s so much more. I’ll make sure I don’t miss out on any of them.”
“Yes… Me too. I want to make Nagito-san happy as much as I can. I won’t lose to anyone.”
Then I’ll make you happier – This was an exchange that I could repeat over and over again and never get tired of.
We headed for the place where we heard the sound. I was sure Asatani-san would be there.
A short time after we left the library, Takane-san tried to pinch the hem of my clothes. I then grabbed her hand.
Even for such a short period of time, when nobody was around to see it, we would keep doing things like this so as not to miss it.
A high peak. That’s what I would have thought if it had been me not so long ago.
And there was my ‘ex-girlfriend’ – And not only that, she didn’t want to lose anyone.
Asatani-san was playing guitar in the light music club room. I had heard that the videos of her playing were very popular.
Asatani-san noticed our presence and struck the pose we had seen her strike during karaoke.
It was an unmistakable declaration of war. Takane-san responded to it head-on – She looked at me next to her and giggled shyly.

naah wth dude I wanted to know the reason and you left me hanging 😭
FR man. It wasn’t a bad read per se, but the main reason I was reading was to find out WTF was behind Asatani’s weird behavior.
She accepts Nagito’s confession and then like 2 weeks later once school starts again she tells him to let her know when he finds a new girlfriend.
The author never explains why the F she did that although she does reference regrets on what happened ‘that day’ but it is NEVER expanded on.
Where the story currently ends serves as an ending sufficiently enough but its apparent there was supposed to be additional chapters or a new volume coming.
With it being over four years since an update either author-San passed away or just gave up continuing the story.
While the read was decent, I can’t say I really recommend it as the chapters are lengthy and there’s not really a payoff at the end.
