Chapter 1: Sudden Confession
“I always liked Kiyoto-kun. So, please go out with me!”
One day after school, I opened my locker to go home and found a mysterious letter inside.
The letter, clearly written in a girl’s handwriting, said, “I’m waiting in the empty classroom on the third floor of Building 2 after school today.”
So, I went there as promised, and a very familiar girl was waiting for me. She confessed her feelings, leading to a super classic situation.
“I-If someone like me is okay… I’d love to go out with you…”
What? Normally, people get confessed to out of the blue, panic, and put it on hold? They say something like, “Let’s start as friends”?
No way, I’m not cool enough to say something like that.
A miracle happened—Kiyoto Nuregami, me, got confessed to!
Of course, I said yes right away.
“Then, let’s make it official, Kiyoto-kun.”
“I’m the one who should say that, Kirino-san.”
The person who confessed to me was Kirino Kinui, a girl from my class.
She’s the kind of person everyone would call perfect.
She’s always number one in our grade for studies and she also gets great results in the track club. She is a total star.
Her personality is like an angel’s—she’s always smiling and kind to everyone, with tons of friends, both guys and girls.
Plus, her face is like a girl from an anime, the kind high school boys dream about. She’s tall, has a great figure, and her hair is just the right length, light pink in color.
Her chest is also pretty big.
Compared to her, I’m just an average guy.
My grades are a bit above average in our grade, but I’m worse at sports than most high school guys.
My face isn’t super handsome, and I’m a bit shorter than the average guy.
Oh, and I’m also bad at talking to people.
Wait, am I actually below average?
I have no idea why someone as amazing as Kirino would confess to a guy like me.
I don’t know the reason, but who cares about that right now?
I’m just gonna celebrate myself for now.
“Since we’re dating now, Kiyoto-kun, wanna walk home together today?”
“O-Of course!”
Kirino’s coming on pretty strong.
There might still be people leaving school at this time.
I, who everyone probably thinks is a total introvert, can show off walking home with *the* Kirino.
Plus, it’s raining today.
I brought my umbrella, but if Kirino forgot hers, it might turn into one of those classic moments…
“Um, I forgot my umbrella today. So… if it’s okay, can I share yours, Kiyoto-kun…?”
Yes! Sharing an umbrella confirmed!
“Totally fine.”
“Really? Then let’s head to the entrance.”
We walked down the stairs together and reached the entrance.
“Here I go.”
Kirino stepped under my umbrella.
My umbrella is a bit small.
So, when two people share it, we have to stick close together.
Right now, Kirino is completely pressed against me.
I need to make sure she doesn’t notice I’m freaking out because her chest is touching me.
Wait, now that we’re this close, I just noticed—am I shorter than her?
I thought Kirino was just tall for a girl, but I didn’t realize she was as tall as a guy.
Still, a situation where the girlfriend is taller than the boyfriend kinda feels… nice in its own way.
“What’s wrong, Kiyoto-kun?”
“Huh?”
“Your face has been red for a while.”
“Oh, i-it’s nothing!”
That was close.
She almost figured out I was freaking out.
I calmed myself down and walked through the residential area toward home.
“Oh, by the way, Kiyoto-kun.”
“Hm? What’s up?”
“I just realized we haven’t exchanged contact info.”
She’s right.
We’re both in the class group chat, but we never exchanged personal contacts.
To be honest, the only girls’ contacts I have are my mom’s and my sisters’.
That’s normal for most high school guys… right?
“Where’s your house, Kiyoto-kun?”
“If you keep going straight, you’ll get there.”
“Then it’s pretty far from my house. I turn down that alley, so thanks for sharing your umbrella.”
Kirino started to step out from under the umbrella.
“W-Wait…”
“What?”
Come on, me!
“I-If it’s okay, can I walk you all the way to your house?”
Nice one, me.
I’ve grown a lot, if I do say so myself.
“Huh? Really?”
“I don’t have anything to do when I get home anyway. Plus, I don’t want you getting soaked.”
“Thanks!”
Alright, maybe I showed off a bit of my boyfriend skills.
“You’re so kind, Kiyoto-kun.”
“N-Not really//”
“That’s what I fell for.”
S-Saying stuff like that out of nowhere might make me hyperventilate.
“Oh, sorry, it looks like we’re already at my house.”
“Huh? Already?”
“Look, it’s that house over there.”
Kirino pointed to a big, square house that looked like it came straight out of an architecture company’s website.
“Sorry, Kiyoto-kun. You came all this way, but my house is right around the corner.”
“No, it’s totally fine. At least you didn’t get wet.”
Honestly, I kinda wanted to stay with her a bit longer.
“Well then, Kiyoto-kun. See you tomorrow!”
“See ya, Kirino-san!”
Kirino went inside her house.
After watching her go, I did a fist pump right there.
No doubt, today was the happiest day of my life!
I went home feeling on top of the world.
