Since my Useless Working Sister and Other Troublemakers Became Magical Girls, I have no Choice but to Support Them. - Chapter 1-5: First Win
Chapter 1-5: First Win
The battle was still raging.
“Hey! How do I defeat this thing!? No matter how much I slash it, it won’t die!”
“Fiaaaaargh!”
I looked and saw that the Fear Eater had numerous cuts all over its body. But as I watched, the wounds slowly closed.
“What’s going on? Is it healing?”
“The enemy is using magic to repair its body. There must be a core somewhere inside it! A black lump-like thing!”
“I saw something like that!”
Saber stepped in and swung her sword at the enemy. She seemed more accustomed to handling the sword than before.
As she got close to the enemy, which held its umbrella defensively, she swept the umbrella aside. Then she stepped in and kicked the enemy in the stomach.
The Fear Eater stumbled back with a cry of pain or a groan. Saber didn’t miss the opening and slashed at its chest again.
A deep cut appeared on its chest. The same place she’d cut before, but this time it was deeper.
I saw inside the Fear Eater’s body, and while there was no blood, a black swirling substance could be seen through it.
In the midst of that, there was a stone that looked like clotted blood, red-black and glowing. The stone stood out because of its strong red glow.
I quickly understood that this was the core.
It also looked similar to the gem Aina used for her transformation.
“Gather light into your sword! Use the power of light to cut through the evil core, and the Fear Eater will die!”
“Gather light? Like this?”
Saber raised her sword above her head, and the blade began to glow faintly. The ceiling lights dimmed as if the light was being absorbed.
But it didn’t look like enough light was gathering.
“Hey!? How much light do I need!?”
“Fiaaaaaargh!!”
“Whoa!? Wait, wait! Don’t come any closer!”
The Fear Eater, its wounds healing, charged at Saber. She hastily raised her sword and managed to strike at its core.
But the core didn’t budge.
“There’s not enough light! Gather more!”
“That’s impossible! I get attacked while gathering light! What am I supposed to do!?”
“Do your best!”
“That’s not helpful at all!”
Despite being an amateur, Saber managed to fend off the Fear Eater’s umbrella thrusts and created another opportunity to slash at its chest.
But it wasn’t enough to finish it off.
“Damn. It’s too much for one magical girl…”
“What do you mean?”
Rafio, on my head, spoke bitterly.
“I planned to recruit multiple magical girls to fight together. While one holds the enemy, another gathers light to destroy the core. Or beat the enemy until it can’t move, then gather light at leisure.”
So in this case, Saber needs to subdue it first.
But Rafio had another idea.
“Alright! Boy! You fight! Even if you’re not a magical girl, you can at least hold it off! Are you just going to let your sister fight alone?”
He kept hitting my head while saying this. This guy…
“Then…”
“Gah!”
“You go fight!”
“Why meeeeee!?”
I grabbed Rafio and threw him at the Fear Eater.
This fairy trying to turn girls into magical girls thinks he can just give orders and do nothing himself.
“Damn it! How dare you! Take this! Die!”
“Fiaaaagh!”
“Shut up!”
Rafio, now on the Fear Eater’s head, started hitting it. The annoyed Fear Eater tried to swat him away.
“Don’t underestimate me because I’m small!”
Rafio then grew in size. wMaintaining his shape, he became as large as a motorcycle.
He was big enough to carry two people on his back.
So he could do that too.
The Fear Eater, suddenly burdened with Rafio’s increased weight, collapsed to the floor.
This might work.
“Rafio! Keep holding it down! Lift it when I give the signal!”
“Got it!”
I quickly scanned the area. There were many items left behind by fleeing people. It was raining outside, so naturally, there were umbrellas.
I grabbed a sturdy-looking umbrella and ran towards Rafio and the Fear Eater.
“Now!”
“Mmfph!”
Rafio’s reply was muffled because he was biting into the enemy’s back. He lifted the Fear Eater while still biting it.
The Fear Eater managed to kneel. For a four-legged creature, that was its limit.
This was enough.
The wound on the Fear Eater’s chest was closing. I didn’t understand the mechanism, but I had seen it happen before.
I glanced at my sister. She was gathering light from the dim station lights into her sword, which shone brightly.
To buy time before the wound closed, I thrust the umbrella into the enemy’s chest and forcibly pried it open.
“Sis! Now!”
“Got it! Hyaaaah! Hey, Rafio! Is there a name for this move?”
“No, but shout whatever you want if it helps!”
“Then… Saber Thrust!”
Wow. What a lame name. And Rafio said to cut, not thrust.
But Saber’s sword pierced the Fear Eater’s chest and shattered the core. I saw it happen up close.
The flowing side tails, the fluttering skirt, the beautiful profile.
My usually unreliable sister was someone I could depend on at this moment.
“F…ia…”
The Fear Eater, its core shattered, let out a weak moan before disintegrating into fine black particles.
