Chapter 1-4: Magical Girl Shiny Saber
Ah, there’s no way out of this. Am I really going to die trying to save a girl I don’t even know? She’ll probably die too.
Should I have left her behind? But if I had, I’d regret it forever. I can’t stand that idea either.
Please, Aina, just get away safely. Even though she’s a fool, she’s still my only family left.
“Oh, fine! I’ll become a magical girl or whatever! Just tell me how, Rafio!”
I heard Aina’s voice.
Of course. To Aina, I’m her only family too.
“Hold this gem. You have the potential, so words will come to your mind. Shout them out.”
“Okay, okay! I’ll shout…”
He took out a pink gem from his bag and handed it to my sister. It was small enough for even little Rafio to carry. I had no idea what kind of gem it was.
No way I could understand it with my limited knowledge.
My sister gripped the gem and closed her eyes, searching for the words in her heart. It took only a moment before–
“Light up! Shiny Saber!”
She shouted proudly, and Aina’s body was enveloped in light. The Fear Eater, which was approaching us, flinched at the sight.
In the light, Aina’s clothes were changing.
From the outside, the light soon faded, revealing Aina dressed in a pink outfit.
The frilly skirt was short, about ten centimeters above her knees, with cute frills. Her feet were in sneakers with short socks, showing a lot of her legs.
Her top was also daring, exposing her stomach and shoulders, highlighting her slender figure. Even after transforming, her small chest hadn’t changed though, which was cruelly apparent in her new form.
However, her hair had grown significantly. The practical black hair she had as a working woman had turned a vivid pink, and her short haircut was now long side tails.
Her appearance had changed so much that I wouldn’t have recognized her if I hadn’t seen the transformation.
In her right hand, she held a sword. The blade glowed faintly, and the gem she had grasped earlier was shining in the hilt.
“A sharp blade to cut through the darkness! Magical Girl Shiny Saber!”
Aina, now Shiny Saber, declared proudly. Then she looked down at herself.
“Wait, what the hell!? This is so embarrassing! Isn’t this too revealing!? I’ve never worn such a short skirt, and my stomach is showing too! Hey! Why am I dressed like this!?”
“Calm down, Saber. The enemy is coming.”
“Oh, geez! Yuuma, get back!”
Kicking off the tiles in the station, Saber ran towards the Fear Eater. Her skirt fluttered, and so I averted my eyes.
The Fear Eater, having targeted Saber, swung its umbrella high but Saber blocked it head-on.
The sound of metal clashing was apparent.
Saber’s sword seemed quite sharp, slicing through the umbrella’s fabric. However, the umbrella’s ribs were tough, maintaining its ability to bludgeon.
“Feaarrrr!”
With an irritated voice, the Fear Eater swung its umbrella again.
“Just die already! It’s not like I want to do this!”
Saber was just as frustrated. She blocked the umbrella again and pushed it back, then slashed at it once more.
Her moves were amateurish, but a cut appeared on the monster’s chest, which had a texture similar to the umbrella’s fabric.
“Feearrr!?”
The Fear Eater seemed shocked by the wound, stepping back and readying its umbrella again.
“Yes! You can do it!”
I couldn’t help but shout. My sister was amazing.
“Hey, boy. Take that girl and get out of here.”
“Got it.”
Rafio, who had somehow moved back to my head, commanded.
I didn’t like his tone, but I agreed.
I knew I had to watch my sister’s fight, but I needed to bring this girl to safety first.
“Can you walk? Let’s get away while we still can.”
“Y-Yes!”
The girl seemed captivated by Saber’s fight. The clash of sword and umbrella continued, but Saber wasn’t in danger.
I led the girl through the station. Once we were far enough, she propped herself against a wall, now able to stand on her own.
“Um, this is far enough. I can escape on my own from here.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, please go back to your sister.”
“Thank you.”
“Hey, you!”
“Eek!”
Rafio moved his face close to the girl.
“You can talk about what you saw today.”
“Huh?”
Rafio’s unexpected words left her bewildered.
Aren’t heroes supposed to keep their identities secret, protecting the world in secrecy?
“Of course, you can’t reveal Shiny Saber’s true identity. No age, appearance, or mention of a younger brother. But spread the word about Magical Girl Shiny Saber. Talk about her. Post online. Tell everyone about the warrior who bravely fights monsters.”
“Uh, okay?”
So he wants to keep her identity secret but make everything else public? That feels off.
“Promise me! If you don’t follow the words of your savior, you’ll regret it later—urk!”
What a tyrannical savior. I grabbed Rafio, silencing him.
“Sorry about that. Must’ve been scary. Just promise not to reveal our identities.”
“Y-Yes! I promise!”
“Hey! Why do you listen to him and not me? This is discrimination—urk!”
As I watched the girl, whose name I still didn’t know, escape while supporting herself on the wall, I held Rafio and returned to my sister.
