- Since my Useless Working Sister and Other Troublemakers Became Magical Girls, I have no Choice but to Support Them.
- Chapter 1-1: Morning Has Come to the Souri Family
My older sister, a useless member of society, and other problem children have become magical girls, so I will support them.
I’m a high school student living with my older sister Aina, who’s a working adult. While I appreciate how much she cares for me, she’s irresponsible and shouts ‘I refuse to go to work’ every morning. Then one day, strange creatures and monsters started wreaking havoc in our city. Aina transformed into a magical girl and defeated the monster. But being a magical girl, the symbol of hope for the city, is too much for my sister. And to make things more complicated, other members of the magical girl team include a grade-schooler who adores fluffy creatures and a classmate in a wheelchair with one leg! Can I, with these uniquely talented magical girls, really protect the world? This is the story of me, my sister, and our other companions, in battles and everyday life.
Chapter 1-1
The mornings at the Souri household are always noisy.
And almost all of it is because of my sister.
“Hehehe. Being able to skip work and play as much as I want, such bliss…”
It’s 7 a.m. on a Monday morning.
Lying on the bed in my room in the Souri family’s apartment, my sister, Aina Souri, was saying such nonsensical things in her sleep.
I slowly approach her ear with the frying pan and ladle I’ve inherited from our mother.
“Wake up!”
And made a clanging sound using it.
“Aaaah!?”
Aina jumps up with a sharp scream, matching the sound of the frying pan.
“What the!? What’s with this every morning!? Why can’t you wake me up normally!? What about my alarm!?”
She’s energetic enough to protest loudly even in the morning.
“You broke it. Three days in a row. We can’t afford to buy a new alarm clock every day.”
I glance at the corner of the room cluttered with clothes and books.
The remnants of the alarm clock that Aina threw and broke while half asleep are left there as a warning. Three pieces in total. Plus, a dented, miserable wall.
As a result of the precious sacrifice of three consecutive alarm clocks, I concluded that I have no choice but to personally wake her up myself now.
“Ugh. I appreciate my dear brother waking me up every morning, but there’s no need for such rough methods. Couldn’t you be gentler?”
“Gentler? How?”
“Something like this, your dear big sister, peacefully sleeping, then you go near me and whisper the following to my ears: Wake up, my beautiful big sister. I can’t imagine going through today without you…”
Disgusting.
I forcibly silence her mouth, which is spewing out imaginary thoughts about me, and Aina quickly grabs my arm and pushes it away.
“What are you doing!? I’m trying to teach you the ideal morning wake-up for siblings!”
“Don’t call yourself beautiful, I’m the one who’s feeling embarrassed for you.”
“Oh. You’re blushing. That’s right. Even though I’m your beautiful sister, any healthy boy would be nervous seeing their own sister so defenseless in the morning.”
While boasting absolute confidence, Aina proudly puffs out her nonexistent chest.
Indeed, Aina has facial features that could be considered beautiful in general. Slightly upturned eyes and short hair due to work reasons.
She also has an expressive face and is said to be cute at her workplace.
But she’s flat-chested.
From over her pink pajamas, there’s no hint of a bulge, one that you would normally see on a woman.
But that’s beside the point.
“Noisy. Hurry up and change.”
I brush off Aina, who tries to embrace me with a seductive expression that clearly aimed to seduce me, her own brother.
No matter how beautiful she is, she’s still an idiot inside. Or rather, she’s my real sister. I shouldn’t have such feelings for her in the first place.
Yet Aina’s playful attitude, not hiding her slight brother complex, remains unchanged.
“Oooh? Would you want to see me changing clothes?”
“Don’t say that. Just hurry up and change.”
Aina came into the living room after changing into a suit.
With a dark suit and a short, tight skirt. From there, thin legs extend, covered in stockings.
As she’s a working adult, she looks presentable in a suit. But I only see her as a hopeless adult who is considered beautiful but dumb at almost everything else.
“Good morning! It’s a refreshing morning again, Yuuma!”
“It would be more refreshing if you could wake up by yourself.”
“Ugh. It’s a refreshing morning because my cute brother wakes me up. Hey hey, what’s for breakfast today?”
“Bread and bacon.”
“Is the bread toasted?”
“No, it’s not. You can eat it as it is.”
“No way!”
Her scream, ruining her presentable suit in an instant, echoed in the living room.
“Don’t we have a toaster at home?”
“I’m worried it might burn.”
“It won’t burn! If it’s nicely toasted, it pops out perfectly! And it even rings a bell for you!”
She’s energetic from the morning. Even though she was sleeping until a moment ago.
“And! What about the bacon?”
“Not cooked.”
“I want it cooked!”
“There’s no way to cook it.”
“What about the frying pan you used to wake me up!?”
“It’s a tool to wake up big sisters.”
“No, it’s a tool to cook bacon! And fried eggs! And steak!”
“Noisy. Just eat already.”
“Ugh. Mom, your son doesn’t seem to have any talent for cooking…”
“Because Mom’s daughter doesn’t have it either, that’s why I’m preparing the meal like this every morning.”
When my sister cooks, due to her sloppy personality, the resulting dishes are terrible.
I for one am the same, but I atleast can make something edible, so I’m in charge of it by process of elimination.
In this aspect, my sister and I are similar.
“You’ll be late if you don’t eat quickly.”
“I don’t want to be late, but I don’t want to go to work either! I know! I’ll take a day off today!”
“Weren’t you supposed to cherish your paid leave from this fiscal year onwards?”
It’s been four years since she started working. Aina has been using up all her paid leave every year. And in the first half of the fiscal year.
Even though new holidays are granted in April when the fiscal year changes, it’s tough to take them from this point on.
Why do I have to worry about my sister’s paid leave?
“Waaaah. My brother is bullying me! Mom, help!”
“Alright, alright. Off you go. You’re going to be late.”
“Goodbye! I don’t want to work, but I don’t want to be late! Hey Yuuma! Say something to motivate me!”
“I always think you’re admirable for doing work you don’t want to do.”
“Yeah! I feel motivated! Goodbye!”
“Take care.”
“Hey Yuuma! Give me a goodbye kiss!”
“Are you stupid? Just go already.”
I manage to get Aina, who forcefully swallowed the meager breakfast, out of the house.
By the way, I heard it might rain in the evening. She probably didn’t bring an umbrella.
This is the morning of the Souri family, or rather, the morning of me, Yuuma Souri, and my sister, Aina Souri.
I also tidy up the breakfast and prepare to take out the garbage bag containing the combustible waste.
“Alright. Mom, Dad, big brother. I’m off.”
I sit in front of the family altar and ring the bowl-shaped bell. Then, I take the garbage bag and leave through the apartment door. I’m also a high school student. I can’t be late.
I make sure to lock the door and greet the neighbor who leaves the house at the same time as me. At the bus stop near the apartment, my classmates are waiting. And so, I head out into my everyday routine.
