She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - Chapter 73
Catch a Cold
“Usami-san.”
Just as I’m about to go home after school, I’m called out by a panicked voice. I look at the source of the voice and saw that it’s Kisaragi’s class leader calling out to me.
“What’s wrong?”
The gaze peeking out from her bangs feels really sharp as well today.
“Here, you probably already know about this printout, but our homeroom teacher just gave me the printouts today, and its due tomorrow. I’m going to hand it to the others, but can you give this to Kisaragi-san?”
Then he gave me a bunch of papers. Why do I have to do this? Despite of my complaints, I accept them with open hands.
“Hahh.”
“Then, please give it to Kisaragi-san, okay?”
Then Kisaragi’s class leader walks away, leaving me with the printouts. I’m just standing there with the printouts in my hands.
“…”
So I decided to deliver the printouts to Kisaragi, there is no point in staring at it. it would be too troublesome to hold it in my hands, so I put them away in my bag.
Kisaragi is absent from school today.

Once I got back to my house to drop off my stuff, I call kisaragi. A beeping sound rings in my ear.
This is very urgent, the deadline for the printout is tomorrow because Kisaragi’s homeroom teacher forgot to hand them out. In this case, shouldn’t the homeroom teacher be more flexible with the deadline? I am complaining in my mind as I wait her to pick up the phone. The sound of the phone connecting to the other end brought me back to myself.
“Hello, this is Kisaragi.”
“It’s Hokuto.”
“Yeah, I can tell by your contact.”
Is that so.
“What’s wrong?”
“I’ve been asked to give you some printouts. Can I go give it to you now?”
She is sneezing and coughing at the phone. Looks like she really caught a cold. It’s not like I think she is lying or anything, but even I can tell it’s pretty bad over the phone.
“I might pass my cold to you, you know?”
“The printout is due tomorrow. Well, in the worst-case scenario, I can just put them in your mailbox.”
“Are you really going to give those printouts to someone who doesn’t even know if they’ll be able to go to school tomorrow?”
“Yeah, I think so.”
“Well, I think I probably can go to school tomorrow, so there will be no problem. My cough is getting better, but can you please wear a mask just in case?”
“That’s good to hear. A mask huh? Okay then, I’m leaving the house now. So please wait a few minutes.”
“Yeah, I’m waiting for you.”
I took her word and hung up the phone. I take my backpack with me, put on a mask and leave the house. After a few steps walking to her house, I stopped myself. Thinking back, I’m going to meet Kisaragi who is sick, so that means I’m going to visit her, right? If that’s the case I should bring something thoughtful. Thinking so, I head to the nearest convenience store to buy something for her. It is the place where I bought her tangerine jellies for the first time. It’s not so much of a memory, but I should be grateful to this place. It seems that the tangerine jellies are still placed near the cash register. Then after buying some tangerine jellies, I head back to Kisaragi’s house.

I rang the bell to Kisaragi’s house, then Kisaragi comes out a few seconds later. She is dressed in her pyjamas with a mask on her face. She opens the door discreetly, she seems embarrassed showing her pyjamas to me.
“…hello.”
“What took you so long?”
“Sorry, I bought some tangerine jellies on the way.”
“You went out of your way to buy it for me? Thank you very much. I will go to school in high spirits tomorrow.”
“No problem, get well soon, okay?”
Then she stares at the printouts.
“So what are these printouts I’m going to submit tomorrow?”
“It’s about the school policy or something like that.”
“Oh, I can’t sign it myself then. It would be much easier if I could sign it myself.”
“You need to give it to your parents.”
As I say it, her eyes slowly avert away.
“Yeah of course. I’ve never done something like imitate my parent’s sign or anything like that.”
I can’t help but to wonder how bad can she be at lying.
“From the way you say it, you’ve done it before, haven’t you?”
“…I-I’ve done it only once before, okay?”
“If you’ve done it once before, that means you’ve done it, right?”
“It was an accident! It really was!”
She raises her voice in desperation, I can’t help but take a step back.
“Okay, okay. Well at least I know you’re fine now. Then I’ll go home now. See you later, get well soon, okay?”
“Don’t tell anyone about it!”
“I know!”
“I’ll see you tomorrow then!”
She is waving her hand vigorously. Now I really doubt if she really caught a cold.
