She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - Chapter 44
Student Council Meeting Day
As I’m on my way to the school gate, I passed a classroom where the student council meeting is being held. The lights are still on, so it seems that the meeting is still taking place. After all that had happened it’s not that surprising.
“Today’s student council meeting is unusually lively. Usually, I just end up sleeping listening to it.”
“You shouldn’t sleep in the student council meeting.”
But more importantly, aren’t you usually sit in the front row?
“Yes, I usually do, why?”
…well I don’t think there is anyone reckless enough to ask her about that. She sighs at my question.
“That’s quite an insidious question.”
A few hours ago, when the student council meeting is being held in the sixth period, a student council member and the president of the student council got into an argument. If I remember correctly, I believe it’s about club activities. As they began to raise their voice and started shout at each other, I felt sick listening to it and decided to leave and ask someone about it later.
“It would be nice if they discuss about it calmly.”
“He said, ‘I think that is just your personal idea, for an average student it’s just an imposition. So, what do you think of that?’ I remember it clearly.”
“How can you remember it so clearly?”
She might have tried her best to imitate the student council member who was arguing with the student council president. But as usual, she is really bad at imitation, she doesn’t sound like trying to imitate anyone, it’s just like she is talking casually.
“Didn’t everyone in the meeting said it over and over again?”
Is that true?
“I don’t remember anything about it.”
“Where were you?”
“I mean, it’s not something I’d remember after all.”
“Who would’ve remembered such thing.”
“You would’ve remembered such thing, right?”
“No, I wouldn’t.”
“Then, who would remember such thing?”
I don’t know enough people in the student council to know who is the person arguing with the student council president. I changed my school slippers into my shoes and continue to walk out the school gate. The blowing wind feels a bit chilly telling us its autumn already.
“Of course, he may have his own ideas and feelings, but the student council president has the teachers pressuring him. It would be wrong to blame only him.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to blame anyone.”
“You should’ve spoken up right then and there.”
“I don’t have that kind of courage to do it.”
When I say things like this, I guess I’m no different from those who only watch, blame and praise them after all. It’s disgusting.
“Well, when we passed each other in the student council room he was thinking like this…”
“Like what?”
“He was thinking, ‘It’s quite a meaningful discussion, I wish the student council can be this lively every time.’”
“That’s tough.”
“Maybe that’s what being student council president is all about.”
“The student council president is the most powerful person in the whole school.”
“Huh?”
“I’m not wrong right…!?”
