She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - Chapter 35
Shield Day
“Why do you always find yourself right in front of me! You’re such an eyesore!”
She shouted with an angry voice. Mikinori appears in front of me as I’m about to go to the source of the voice, I think there’s trouble going on.
“Nao-chan tangled up with a girl. You’re the only one who can help her.”
Mikinori told me so and dragged me to the front of the classroom where the incident is taking place. On the other side of the door, is Kisaragi who has been knocked down. Is the girl who is in front of Kisaragi did it? She is hurling terrible words at Kisaragi with all her might. The people around them are just looking at them and telling her to stop. They are terrible people, they don’t even try to stop her. The girl who started the whole thing doesn’t even notice me standing there.
Kisaragi has her usual blank expression on her face.
No, her eyes seem rather sad for the person in front of her. I saw it before. When Kisaragi talked about her past at the library, her eyes seemed sad for the person who had harmed her. She told me she looked that way because of jealousy, but I don’t think that’s the case, perhaps she tangled up with this girl because of the love cupid thing she was doing. I don’t know what is the right thing to do, but I can’t stand seeing Kisaragi being shouted at like this any longer.
“Say something!”
She said as she tried to grab Kisaragi by her collar.
“Stop it.”
She turned around at my words. She looks really familiar, but I can’t remember who she is. While she was stunned, I stepped in between her and Kisaragi.
“I don’t know what’s going on, but I apologize. There is no need to resort to violence.”
“You should stay away from this! You are not her boyfriend after all!”
Why does she bring up the boyfriend thing now?
“My friend is being violent. My classmates are being violent. I just want to stop it.”
Even though what I said is true, my words are really irritating. She frowned at the word ‘classmates’.
“You guys aren’t lovers right!? so why!? Why are you defending that girl!!!”
Her voice is slowly getting smaller and finally became sobs. She collapsed to her knees and shook off her friends who had gathered around her in concern.
“Can’t I protect my friend who is in trouble?”
“Obviously not, that’s weird! You probably don’t remember me, right? I’m Yuna Sato!”
I thought she seems familiar. I clearly shouldn’t show up to this huh? But it’s too late to realize that now. Her face is soaking wet with tears, but she wouldn’t stop spitting out her words.
“I had feelings for you, but you never accepted them! That woman there is just a girl who no one likes! Why am I not good enough for you!? Answer me clearly!!!”
Is she really doing this? All I feel for her is just pity.
“I don’t like people who are violent towards others. At this moment, you should know why are you not good enough for me.”
The whole place went silent at my words, even the sound of her sobbing had stopped. I guess they didn’t expect me to answer so clearly.
“…can you stand?”
Unable to stand the silence, I reached for Kisaragi to help her stand up. As I helped Kisaragi stand up, I also reached for Yuna Sato, but she rejected my help and stands up by herself.
“Has anyone called the doctor?”
The people around us huffed, no one answered my question, even Mikinori’s eyes seems to be averted when I look at him. You’re joking right? You should call the doctor when such thing happens.
“It’s fine if no one called the doctor. Yuna, let’s tidy up the desks, we mess them up when we’re playing earlier.”
At the sight of the resolute Kisaragi, Yuna Sato began to cry aloud again. This time she is being properly taken care of by her friends; however, I can’t by and watch. I helped Kisaragi and put the desks into their original position.

“We need to get away from this.”
“If you feel responsible for what happened, stay next to me. Protect me as a shield.”
“Yeah.”
“But if you don’t want to its fine by me.”
She is such a mischievous girl, she knows there’s no way I can say no.
