She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - chapter 11
Continuation ● “Dating” Day
“What was that?”
To calm our mind from the earlier incident, we stepped into a nearby family restaurant. Kisaragi is eating pasta with cod roe, she doesn’t seem to have an appetite, she is rolling her pasta around with a fork. Not having an appetite just like her, I put a bowl of consommé soup from the soup bar in front of me.
“She is a good person.”
I thought she is an awful person because kisaragi suddenly grabbed my hand, I thought I was dealing with someone who had some kind of history with kisaragi in the past.
“I’m sorry.”
In fact, she said ‘Congratulations! I’m glad the person kisaragi is dating seems really kind. Kisaragi is a very nice person, but she often misunderstood things. That’s why I want you to take care of her properly. Oh, I’m sorry for holding you back. Well, see you later!’ She was just a really kind person. She even said goodbye with a soft smile on her face.
“I had forgotten about them.”
You’re a horrible person.
“or, more accurately, I was trying to forget them.”
In other words, she hadn’t forgotten them. She spins her fork around while looking down.
“They are your friends, right?”
“Yes. She was my classmate in the seventh grade.”
Junior high school, huh?
“What is your relationship with her?”
“We used to be in the same group, and she used to talk to me a lot. Surprisingly, we got along really well, but the next year we were in different classes, so we never spoke again.”
“Is that really all there is to it?”
She immediately stopped spinning her fork around. Her expression seemed like asking me ‘how do you know that?’
“The next year. Eighth grade was the time when I had the whole class against me.”
“You remember it well.”
She doesn’t really want to remember about it, but it is not an easy thing for her to forget. I didn’t think she was connected to this.
“She surely reached out to you, right?”
Finally, she puts her fork down. She looked at me as if she had given up to hide things from me, then she started talking honestly.
“She reached me only once. ‘Is there anything I can do?’ she said. But I shook her hand off.”
“Was it because you thought she would get in trouble?”
She didn’t nod to my question, but I’m sure it was the right answer. Kisaragi is a ‘really kind person’ as she said. Kisaragi is staring at me right now, I guess Kisaragi must think she is a really good person.
“…I never thought I would meet her again.”
I remembered her words again.
“It’s very easy to misunderstand the situation, right? She’s still misunderstanding our relationship.”
Right now, all I want to do is help her.
“I haven’t changed since then, you know.”
I don’t know anything about her past. I don’t want to know. I don’t think it’s either good or bad for people to change.
“But I think she was really happy to see you. I think she was relieved to see you with someone. Otherwise, she won’t smile like that at someone who shook her hand off once.”
She looked down for a while, but eventually a smile appeared her face. Her soft white cheeks seem to be blushing.
“I hope so.”
She seemed able to understand it in her mind. She picks up the fork again and rolls her pasta vigorously. That’s too much pasta in a fork.
“So, what are we going to do now?”
She unrolls her pasta and started eating them. Realizing she will not answer my question soon because she is eating, I went to the soup bar to take a plate of potage. Eventually, she finishes everything in her mouth, then we joined our hands together and said thanks for the meal.
“Of course, we are going to watch a movie.”
“Sure, let’s go.”
“I’ve never seen a movie without being spoiled or hearing people’s thoughts commenting about it.”
“No matter how much you try, you will hear my thoughts throughout the movie.”
“It’s fine. I think I can handle the thought of hokuto-san alone. I usually read dozens of minds throughout the movie.”
“Why don’t you watch it at home?”
“There are no big screens like in the theatres in my house.”
Ahh, yeah. I see.
“Do you want to go have some cakes?”
“Of course. We haven’t done anything yet. Please keep me accompany.”
Her smiling face is full of expectations. We left the family restaurant and went to the movie theatre.
