Scum-lesse Oblige, I Have Been Reincarnated as a Scum Villain in an 18+ Game World, and I Absolutely Want to Grasp the Mob Life with the Power of My Knowledge of the Original Story - Chapter 20
Enrique’s Strength
“Is this the place?”
After getting the information I need from the thief, I arrive at the thieves’ hideout.
Their hideout is located in a cave near Haven village. Indeed, at first glance, it looks just like an ordinary cave. No wonder Rain and his men had a hard time locating their hideout.
I hide in the trees near the entrance, observing the situation.
Below, there are two people guarding the entrance.
I listen to them carefully.
“—where is our main force?”
“Ah, they’re now wreaking havoc in Haven.”
“Good thing we got left behind.”
“Yeah, that’s right. I never thought we would find a noble’s daughter near that small village. What was she doing there?”
“I don’t care about any of that. However, we got ourselves a big catch, we can ask for ransom or anything like that.”
I see.
It seems that Iris has already been kidnapped.
Now, all that’s left is for me to infiltrate their base.
It might be a bit earlier than Rain’s entry in the original story, but well, being a bit ahead shouldn’t be an issue.
I bet Iris would be grateful to be rescued sooner.
—however.
There is something that bothers me.
I can’t shake off this worrisome feeling about the thief’s parting words.
After successfully getting the location of their hideout from the thief, I told him,
“I’m surprised, I thought it’s not going to be this easy to get your hideout’s location from you.”
“Well, even if you manage to reach the hideout, you won’t be able to win anyway.”
He told me so.
“I won’t be able to win?”
“Yeah, you see, an underground guild is a treasure trove of talents, people who can’t show themselves in public. Get it? Do you think we didn’t prepare anything for this attack? We have prepared monsters for this plan!”
Monsters.
There are probably strong individuals in this hideout. I don’t know the exact details of how Rain saved Iris. So, what if there is someone really strong inside their hideout?
Am I strong enough to take care of them?
I question myself.
From the fight that I had with Enrique, I think it’s safe to assume that I’m no stronger than an F-rank adventurer.
Honestly, entering this hideout without a plan is not a great idea.
—however, I have an advantage.
I’ve come to realize something during this incident.
“Here we go.”
I jump down from the trees and land on the ground.
“…what the!?”
The thieves who are guarding the entrance are clearly surprised.
However, before they can react,
““Ughh!!””
I quickly put them both to sleep by hitting them with the hilt of my sword.
By the way, this sword is a gift from that thief.
It seems there are no more guards around.
“Well then, let’s see if the rest of them are inside…”
After I successfully put both of the guards to sleep, I feel my confidence growing.
—however.
Am I not as weak as I thought???
That’s a problem.
The thieves that me and Enrique fought tonight are way too weak.
Even if the Bright Night Helle Nacht are just a guild full of thugs at this point, they’re still way too weak.
Come to think of it, even Enrique beat those thieves so easily earlier.
There is only one conclusion can be drawn from this.
Enrique is not weak.
He is far stronger than I thought.
That’s why, it’s likely that I, who have trained alongside Enrique all this time, has become quite strong as well.
“That guy…”
Perhaps…
I gulped.
That overwhelming strength.
Enrique’s power sent shivers down my spine.
“—perhaps Enrique is not a former F-rank adventurer after all. He might be a former E-rank or even a bottom D-rank adventurer.”
That’s the only conclusion I can think of.
Apparently, Enrique who got expelled from the guild a few years ago is quite powerful.
If I’m as strong as Enrique, I might have a chance to infiltrate their hideout successfully.
It seems like I have a good chance of winning.
At the entrance of the hideout, I look up at the sky.
Enrique should arrive at Haven soon.
Haven village which got attacked by the thieves is the place where the protagonist grew up in. It is a place that the protagonist holds dear in his heart.
That is why this incident is quite a traumatic point for both the protagonist and Iris.
Then because of this incident, the Randall family will be severely criticized.
That’s why, I’m counting on you, Enrique.
Enrique, the reputation of my family rests on your shoulders…please bring it to a good and happy end!
I’m sure Enrique is working really hard to protect Haven right now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, going back to a little while ago—
Enrique, the former S-rank adventurer looks up at the sky.
“Sorry, Genesis. I guess this is it.”
Enrique says so, scratching his head as he looks around.
Trees to the right, trees to the left…
Even behind and in front of him, there are only trees…
“…it seems like I’m lost, huh?”
Strange.
It seems like I’m completely lost.
“Come to think of it, the only reason why I ended up in the Randall territory was because I got lost…”
Unfortunately, the former S-rank monster, Enrique, who is known for his overwhelming physical strength…has an unbelievably bad sense of direction.
Enrique thinks of Genesis, or rather his young lord, who is probably already making his move under the same night sky.
That’s right…
“I might be a bit late…but I’m doing my best here too, young lord.”
Author’s Note:
-
-
-
- The protagonist no longer thinks Enrique as a former F-rank adventurer, rather he thinks Enrique as a bottom D-rank adventurer.
-
-
- Unbeknownst to anyone, Enrique has a terrible sense of direction. While he can navigate through a town or village just fine, but once he steps outside of them, he gets lost instantly.
