Scum-lesse Oblige, I Have Been Reincarnated as a Scum Villain in an 18+ Game World, and I Absolutely Want to Grasp the Mob Life with the Power of My Knowledge of the Original Story - Chapter 15
The Root of Strength
Enrique’s POV
“It’s your duty…you say?”
I can’t help but to widen my eyes in surprise the moment I hear those words.
Honestly, what the boy told me is just ridiculous.
Lyon is after all the biggest and safest city within the Randall territory.
Can such thing really happen there?
The incident that is about to happen is just too shocking.
With the gaze of a former S-rank adventurer, I ask him,
“If we assume that what young lord said is true, why aren’t you seeking assistance from those around you?”
To my surprise, he told me.
“It’s obvious, isn’t it? —because that’s my duty.”
With determination in his eyes, he told me so.
Even I, who have encountered countless life-threatening situations as a former S-rank adventurer, can’t help but to be astonished by the boy’s gaze.
“That’s the duty of a noble—Noblesse Oblige.”
I see, I finally understand.
The reason why this boy has such strength.
The root of his strength, which is not befitting of his age.
“That’s strange, if an ordinary aristocrat were to say something like that, it would just sound like some kind of hypocrisy, but young lord…when I look into your eyes, I can tell that you really believe it’s your duty.”
“Yeah…”
“In that case, I’ll start preparing as well. It looks like I’ll be getting into action again after a long time—”
When I say so, the boy suddenly stands up and stares at the direction of the window.
“What’s wrong, young lord? You suddenly looked away from me.”
“It’s just your chuunibyou syndrome— N-No, never mind, it’s nothing…”
“Okay then.”
I crack my neck as I call out to the young lord, who is staring away at the direction of the window for some reason.
“Young lord, please don’t hesitate to ask for my assistance…you can use me as you please.”
Saying so, I leave the room.
I’ve never felt this way for such a long time.
Even when I was expelled from the guild, I never felt such excitement.
“—it’s going to be a fun fest, isn’t it?”
I can’t help but to laugh ferociously at the thought of it.

Ultos’ POV
Seeming to have come to some sort of agreement in the end, Enrique leaves the room.
However, on the contrary, I’m feeling uneasy.
Because…
“I don’t know why, but somehow, he is strangely good at exuding a sense of strength.”
He is just a former F-rank adventurer, right?
How can he look at me with such piercing gaze?
He even said things like,
‘It looks like I’ll be getting into action again after a long time—’
and
‘You can use me as you please.’
It felt so embarrassing that I couldn’t help but to get up and look at the sunset.
My eyes were actually hurting from staring at the sunset for too long, but it was definitely less painful than looking Enrique straight in the eyes in his chuunibyou mode.
…no, this is not good.
It’s not good to judge others like that.
Yeah.
Our goals are different, while I aim to become a good and modest mob, Enrique might be aiming to become a strong person.
However, with that level of acting talent, maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Enrique, who has been an F-ranked adventurer for years to become a comedian or something.
I’m sure that he can perform in a theatre or something.
With his acting skills, he can probably do pretty well.
…but then again.
“……”
I stare at the door without saying anything.
“Hmm, Noblesse Oblige, huh?”
I’m sorry, but that doesn’t sound right for a guy like me.
In my case, it’s Scum-less Oblige.
“Well, I guess I should be getting ready myself.”
And so, while coming up with such pointless jokes, I found myself heading to the town where Scumtos’ downfall would begin, the town of Lyon.
