Rising from the Slum City of Reincarnation in Another World ~ Gathering, Hunting, and Living a Slow Life by Eating
Chapter 145 Alchemy potion
When it comes to the homeland of potions, it’s the Elven territory. However, with Eldania’s collapse and the Helhorn Mountain route becoming a forced march for passage, things took a different turn. Now, with Eldania’s revival, there’s a system in place where supplies are stored there before being sent to the capital city.
In essence, when shipping potions to the capital city or even further to the Azhibellia Empire, the route passes through Eldania.
This is the lesson we receive from Lord Gid.
“Everyone, are you following?”
“I see.”
“Meow, it’s fine, Papa.”
“Absolutely, understood.”
“Hehe, meow-meow.”
Whether the cats truly understand or not, it’s hard to tell.
“So, shall we try turning those ingredients, the herb First Grass, into a potion?”
“Huh? What kind of experiment is this?”
“That’s right.”
And so, under Lord Gid’s guidance, we observe the process of making potions.
The First Grass, named for being the primary herb used. It looks just like ordinary grass, yet it’s not something you come across often. Occasionally, you might find it growing around.
“Chop this up, and then put it into the boiling water.”
“Got it!”
Everyone watches the bottle-like flask intently.
Gradually, the leaves start to wither and shrink, resembling blanched spinach.
“Now, let it continue boiling.”
“Wow.”
“Heart pounding.”
Everyone anxiously keeps their eyes on the flask.
Gradually, it seems that components are being extracted from the First Grass, as the color shifts from transparent to a shade of green.
“Once the liquid turns green, it’s done. Then, we let it cool.”
“Oh, I see.”
“It’s not ideal to cool it down too quickly. We should wait for it to cool naturally.”
“Interesting.”
We turn off the magical stove and observe.
The pale green liquid gradually transforms into a richer shade of green.
“With this, it’s finished.”
“We did it.”
The potion liquid gathers in the flask-like container.
“Now then, does anyone have a minor hand injury?”
“Well, um, everyone has some minor scratches here and there.”
Occasionally, due to their mischievous nature, they might cut their hands.
While healing magic could be used, it’s often seen as bothersome and left as is.
“In that case, let’s divide it up bit by bit and wash our hands together.”
“Yes, yes, yes.”
They begin to apply the still slightly warm potion onto their hands.
Slowly and carefully, bit by bit.
“Feels a bit strange.”
Indeed, what could it be? It’s like a gentle warmth from within.
This is what a potion feels like.
“How is it?”
“Everyone’s hands are so smooth!”
“Incredible, meow.”
“It’s really impressive.”
“Meow-ha, truly amazing.”
The girls are all delighted together.
An instantly effective medicinal potion, something Earth couldn’t achieve. In this different world where a simple method like boiling herbs can bring about such results, it’s truly astonishing. It’s highly intriguing. Definitely, I’d like to explore this further at the academy.
Upon turning twelve, it’s decided that we’ll start attending school. Trieste High School, to be exact. It feels exciting to think about the variety of things we’ll learn. I’m looking forward to it.
“Now, here’s the commercially available potion.”
Carefully taking the potion out of the box.
It’s nestled within cushioned leaves.
“This is the potion bottle.”
“Oh, I see.”
It takes on the classic flask shape. Though it’s smaller than an average flask, if you were to drink too much, your stomach might end up feeling quite full. However, this amount should be manageable – about the size of a cup.
While it’s a glass bottle, there’s a magic circle etched onto the bottom.
In fact, this is a type of magical tool. Although it doesn’t use a power gem, it’s inscribed with a magical pen containing dissolved magic gem ink, which absorbs ambient magic to activate its effects.
The ink is red, perhaps due to the gem being red. It’s a stabilizing magic circle, essentially allowing it to preserve its efficacy. Yet, since the magical energy converted from the ambient magic is limited, its effect is modest.
Additionally, the mouth of the bottle is sealed with a wooden cork and further secured by cloth. Given its quality, it’s understandably robust. There’s even a string attached, which, when pulled, should tear the cloth and open it with a snap. This feature is vital – you wouldn’t want to struggle to open it during an emergency.
“I wonder if I’ll be able to make something like this.”
“Hahaha, you’ll get there eventually.”
“Do you think so?”
“If you practice. Are you interested?”
Gid-san asks.
“Well, it’s decent.”
“Being an adventurer would be good, or perhaps an alchemist.”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
Ed the alchemist. Not a bad idea at all.
Imagine donning a slightly tattered black robe, exuding an air of mystery.
Embroidered with golden thread along the hem, a magical circle adorns the robe, giving it an aura of magnificence.
Indeed, with black hair, black eyes, and a black robe, that would create quite the striking image.
“Ghehehe.”
“Ed-chan, you’ve got a mischievous look on your face.”
“Ahahaha.”
“Ed-kun…”
Minya points it out, and Lania gives a disapproving look.
Well, it’s fine. A little bit of admiration is okay.
And so, we observed the first steps of alchemy.
Next time, we want to try it ourselves.
