Rising from the Slum City of Reincarnation in Another World ~ Gathering, Hunting, and Living a Slow Life by Eating
Chapter 138 Spring Harvest
“Spring is a treasure trove of wild vegetables and wildflowers.”
“Crowbeans!”
“That’s right, Minya.”
In our garden too, the crowbeans we planted early last year are now bearing fruit.
The purple flowers are still abundant.
“Sorrel.”
“Indeed.”
Sorrel, used in various dishes, has been a staple in our meals.
“Nobiru!”
“Ah, yes.”
Recently, Eleanor-sama was quite excited about it, so the memory is still fresh in my mind.
“Itadori!”
“Yeah, you can eat this too.”
I pluck some itadori, sprinkle a small amount of salt from the Item Box, and taste it – it’s tangy.
Normally eaten fresh as spring shoots grow, if this period has passed, it’s often used as a medicinal herb.
“Strawberries! They’re still flowers.”
“Just a bit longer.”
In the center, there’s a tiny dot surrounded by white petals.
The fruits will come a little later. I’m eagerly looking forward to eating them or turning them into jam.
And then… the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
“Cherry blossoms!”
Minya spreads both hands wide in an appeal.
“This is incredible!”
“Meow, so beautiful, meow.”
Lania and Ciel were also impressed.
Do you remember the cherry tree along the pathway that connects the Mansion Hotel to the central square?
Those very cherry blossoms are now in full bloom.
The pale pink color is so stunning, creating a truly enchanting sight.
“Alright, it’s cherry blossom viewing time!”
“Yaaay!”
We spread woven straw mats on the ground, and everyone sits down on them.
Indulging in various juices of their choice, we enjoy wild vegetable tempura, fried chicken, donuts, thin pancakes, and more.
“Nyahaha, this is so delightful.”
“Beautiful, isn’t it?”
“Mewomeow, meow.”
Everyone is in high spirits.
Even Lord Gid and his entourage, who don’t usually make appearances, have joined in, albeit discreetly.
Even the maids who have a moment to spare have joined in, and more residents of the city have gathered as well.
The event evolves into a grand feast, filled with lively chatter and excitement.
Bringing out some of the treasured meats from the Item Box, they were a hit as everyone savored the flavors.
“Meat, anyone?”
“Ed, where did you even get that?”
“Hehehe, it’s a secret. Remember when I went hunting with Eleanor-sama?”
“Oh right, I recall. Wolf meat, was it?”
“Exactly!”
While it might be a bit tough, it’s not inedible.
Meat is indeed a precious resource.
We season it with sauce and salt, enjoying the flavors together.
Ah, spring. The season of a new academic year.
Memories of backpacks and such come flooding back. I’m reminded of middle school uniforms and sailor outfits.
In this world too, there are secondary educational institutions called high schools, complete with uniforms.
In a few more years, Eleanor-sama and I will be attending together, sitting side by side and sharing desks, as we promised.
I’m secretly looking forward to what we’ll learn. Especially things related to magical tools, alchemy, and potion-making – the culture and technology aspects are quite intriguing.
There are a few magical items at the Lord Mansion Hotel, like magic lamps and magical stoves. Potions and the like seem to be Melun-san’s area of expertise, but lately, she’s been quite busy with administrative work, and we haven’t had a chance for study sessions or the like.
“Minya’s boat, soaring through the vast sky♪”
Minya was singing.
Wait, do ships really fly through the sky? Wait, could that be referring to an airship?
Airships have a certain romance to them, don’t they?
They do have airships in this country too; you can catch a glimpse of them passing through the sky about once a year.
I wonder where they’re headed. I’d really like to ride one if I could persuade Grandpa.
Oh right, I’m a prince. Maybe I should actually ask him.
In that case, we could go all the way to the other side, crossing the desert on the far southern continent.
Although, it’s probably a bit too much to ask to be taken that far.
Heading to Trieste High School and embarking on a worldwide journey – those are two major aspirations, aren’t they?
The Dark Continent of Latania. A land ruled by the demon tribe.
The Dark Continent lies beyond the Eastern Sea, if I recall correctly, probably.
Speaking of which, Wyvern fried chicken. And there’s Gyudon too. For some reason, it’s called ‘Wyvern Gyudon’.
Even though it’s not beef, there are idiomatic expressions like that. I don’t know the meaning, though.
The world is vast.
Oh, and there’s something else. Dungeons. Dungeons rumored to exist somewhere.
It seems there aren’t any around this country’s vicinity. However, the concept itself is known.
I think I heard they can be found in the Elven Sanctum of Titania and the Empire of Azhibellia.
“I’d like to try exploring a dungeon.”
“Nyaha. Let’s go, let’s go.”
“That sounds exciting. My blood is pumping.”
“Eh, it’s a little scary, Meow.”
Hmm. Opinions vary, but it seems that Ciel isn’t against the idea because she’s scared. She probably doesn’t know what it’s really like.
Our party has two support members and two attackers, so our offensive power is slightly lacking.
If Eleanor-sama with her ‘Eleanor Beam’ were to join, the balance would be perfect.
Exploring a dungeon together as a group.
That’s also one of the things I’d like to try.
Now, for this year or until I enter high school at the age of twelve, where and what shall we do?
I’m looking forward to it.
