Chapter 112 Mixed-grind hamburger steak.

When Mark-san and the rest of us had free time, we would venture into the forest for monster hunting. Near Eldania, in the Exis Forest, we encountered not only goblins but also wolves and rabbits.

Wolf meat was sold cheaply in Trieste City as meat skewers, but its tough and chewy texture divided opinions. Some people who liked hearty meat enjoyed it, but others found it to be of lower quality.

Then there’s rabbit meat – a lean meat with a slightly chicken-like, refreshing taste. When simply grilled on its own, it can be dry and not very tasty. However, it becomes incredibly delicious when made into fried chicken, so that’s how we mainly prepare it at home.

“That’s it! Let’s make mixed-grind meat into hamburgers.”

“Hamburgers?”

“Yes, hamburgers.”

While the concept of grinding meat is also present in this world, it is more commonly used to make meatballs of a few centimeters in size, which are then added to soups.

“We’re going to make them slightly bigger and cook them by grilling, unlike the meatballs in the soup.”

“Wow, that sounds delicious.”

“Exactly.”

I finely chopped the wolf meat with a knife. Once that was done, I prepared the rabbit meat in the same way. Combining the wolf and rabbit meat, I added eggs, salt, and other ingredients to make the hamburgers.

The once tough wolf meat now had the perfect texture, offering a satisfying yet easy-to-eat experience. The mild rabbit meat blended harmoniously with the rich wolf meat and its fat, creating an exquisite taste.

“Now that the patties are formed, let’s cook them.”

“Wow!”

Sizzle!

I grilled the hamburger patties, and a wonderful aroma filled the air.

I flipped them over with ease to cook the other side.

And there you have it, the burgers were done!

I served the hamburgers on the prepared plates and generously poured the specially imported Demi-glace sauce over them. The sauce may be a bit pricey, but there’s no other choice.

Alongside the hamburgers, I had previously prepared thinly sliced potatoes, fried in olive oil. In other words, I made some French fries to accompany the dish. And voilà, it’s complete!

“Bon appétit!”

“Delicious!”

Munch, munch, gulp.

The meat-loving fairies, Mīnya, Lania, and Ciel, all filled their mouths with hamburgers. It must be really delicious since they were completely absorbed in eating after their initial praise.

The sweet and savory sauce was exquisite too; this world’s culinary culture was not to be underestimated. So, when I introduced the blended hamburgers, it attracted hungry fairies from all around.

And thus, the hamburgers were highly acclaimed by the girls, and they became a staple on the Lord’s Mansion Hotel’s menu. I was elated by the positive reception from the guests staying at the inn.

Speaking of potatoes, there’s also a dish similar to “rosti” on Earth, where you thinly slice the potatoes and cook them in a frying pan. Despite being known for wheat bread, our world also has a variety of dishes made with potatoes, not just beans, favored by us commoners. This has become a popular choice at the Lord’s Mansion Hotel, using freshly harvested potatoes from the nearby fields.

Now, speaking of the bed situation.

Since arriving at this hotel, each of us has been assigned a separate bed. Although we are technically considered members of the lord’s family, we have a children’s room rather than servant quarters, and we all sleep in the same room.

However, after that stormy night, Mīnya insisted on sleeping in the same bed with me again.

“Mīnya wants to sleep with Ed.”

“Y-Yeah.”

“A-And Ciel too!”

And so, every night, Mīnya and Ciel would crawl into my bed.

Thankfully, the bed is a standard size, so even with three children, it’s not overly cramped.

“I’m fine sleeping alone.”

That was Lania, but she had a slightly nostalgic expression on her face. A young girl’s heart is quite complex. She seems to be aware that she’s old enough to sleep alone now. Perhaps she finds it embarrassing to sleep with me.

During the summer, it was quite hot, so I’d appreciate some leniency, but as autumn arrived and it became a bit cooler, having these naturally warm girls act as natural heaters made it surprisingly easy for me to sleep soundly.

Cuddling up to me, they nuzzle and press their bodies against mine.

They’re just like little kittens, so adorable.

And to top it off, there are two little kittens, so the bed is quite cramped and challenging, but I can’t resist this warmth.

I can’t help but feel a tinge of sadness, knowing that these little ones might eventually grow bigger and leave my side.

This innocent and affectionate behavior might only last for a short while, probably.

When they grow bigger, this single bed will definitely feel too small for all of us.
