Returned home early, saw my wife embracing another man - Chapter 4- Is it over?
I didn’t do any extra work today and got off around seven.
The first thing I did after leaving the office was to call my wife.
[Hello? Is everything alright?]
“Yes, I was just returning home so I thought of asking if you had any plans.”
There was a brief pause before she asked,
[So early today. That’s surprising.]
I smiled, “Well, I finished my work early so I can spend some time with you. Let’s go to the mall after I return.”
[Ah, okay. I will change and wait for you.]
I smiled ear to ear.
After a long time, I am going on a date with her.
At least she wasn’t reluctant to spend time with me.
Today, I am going to remind her why we got married in the first place so that if Asuka is thinking of moving on and starting a new life, she will at least think once again.
Call me a loser for clinging to her like this…but I am hopelessly in love with her. I don’t want to lose my Asuka.
If she says that she has a relationship with someone else, I will possibly forgive her and try to make things better between us.
And even if she doesn’t confess…then I don’t know what I will do.
‘Agh, let’s not sour my mood.’ I rushed to the flower shop hurriedly before it closed.
“Hello,” the shop owner smiled.
“Hello, how are you.” I often visited in the past so we were well acquainted. I brought a flower for Asuka regularly during our dates or after we got married.
Now that I think about it, I have been neglecting her a lot.
“Please give me a bouquet of red roses,” I asked.
The lady smiled, “Hmm~going to propose to your wife again, or is this your anniversary?”
I smiled sheepishly, “Something like that,” I paid for the flowers and soon left the shop.
I took the train and kept the flowers safe. Although it was a bit inconvenient I somehow carried it along.
After exiting the station, I was walking towards my house when I met a familiar person.
“Ah, Yu-kun~” It was Akari-san, the lady who lives in the same neighborhood.
And the person whose name Asuka used to lie to me.
“Hello, how are you?” I greeted her.
“Doing well. Ah, are those roses for Asu-chan?” She asked with a warm smile as she pressed her fingers on her cheek.
I softly smiled and nodded.
“Waah…is there something in the air? First, my husband booked a room with onsen and here you are bringing flowers for Asu-chan.”
I blinked in surprise, “Oh, you are going on a trip?”.
She nodded happily, “I didn’t think Saku-kun would take me for a vacation out of the blue. You see, I felt he might be cheating on me so this was kind of compensation. But you know him.”
I chuckled, “Yes, he is head over heels for you to even think about another woman.”
She shyly giggled, “That’s right.” She then turned toward the flowers and said, “What about you? Is it your anniversary today?”
I slowly shook my head, “Just felt like giving her flowers.”
“Oh, is that so? Gifting your wife something randomly is very touching. I appreciate the gesture.” She gave me two thumbs up.
She has always been like this. Happy and cheerful.
And meeting her told me something
She wasn’t unwell, nor did Asuka spend the night at her house, or she would have definitely mentioned it.
My heart felt a little heavy.
We chatted for a bit more, before she said, “You shouldn’t make her wait. Go, go.”
I gave her a nod before making my way to my house.
Where Asuka awaited me.
I didn’t know how things would go. I don’t know what went wrong that Asuka had to lie to me.
But I know for sure that I love Asuka still the same. No, maybe I love her more than I did before we got married.
Getting to spend time with her, I received the warmth of a family.
After my mother’s death, the only woman who truly understood me and got emotionally connected to me was her.
She not only took care of my daily needs but also became my emotional support.
I was pretty much an orphan…she became my family and took away all the loneliness from my life.
So yes, I want to make things up with her.
I hurriedly climbed the stairs and approached my house.
Taking a moment, I combed my hair using my fingers, and was about to knock on the door when suddenly,
*Click*
The door opened, revealing a hurried Asuka.
“Ah, Yuto-kun. Akari had a back sprain and fell down. I will go check on her real quick.” Saying so, she walked past me and rushed towards the stairs.
I remained standing there….my hand never rose to offer the flowers.
My mind turned numb as I heard her footsteps descending the stairs.
I felt my heart turning numb.
She…lied to me. Again.
I just met Akari-san and she was fine.
…then…does it mean she was going to meet that man again?
My eyes turned moist.
Why Asuka…what happened that you no longer looking at me?
Is this really the end for us?
I stepped inside the house, dark and empty.
A sudden sense of betrayal struck me as I rested the flowers on the kitchen station and walked inside.
Didn’t take many steps before sitting down on the ground and staring blankly at the wall across from me.
I think…she has gotten over me.
I believe it’s time to make a decision.
