- Returned home early, saw my wife embracing another man
- Chapter 3- Win her love again
Asuka didn’t return until morning.
I wasn’t able to sleep a wink.
Thinking again and again of our past and what had happened.
We were happy, despite our tough living conditions. She never complained and always supported my decisions. I felt she was happy with our life since we were together.
Then…what suddenly happened that Asuka had to lie to me? What could be the reason that she was embracing another man and even went somewhere with him in his car?
The thought continued to consume and before I knew it, it was dawn.
I remained in bed for another hour before getting up and preparing for the day.
Despite my mental condition, I can’t take a day off because I am new at the company.
I kept looking at my phone every ten minutes, but last night, neither did I receive any calls or messages from her.
I changed my clothes and drank some milk before taking my bag and leaving the house.
However, just as I stepped out my phone rang.
It was Asuka.
I took a deep breath before picking up, “Where are you?” I asked, trying to sound normal.
[I am returning home now. You haven’t left, right? I will come and make breakfast.]
“No, Asuka. I have already left.” I lied. I had time to wait for her, but…right now, I knew if I saw her, I would end up saying something disgusting.
I didn’t want to face her now. Maybe with a calmer mind, I can take this better.
[Ah…I am sorry…Akari’s health is not good so I had to stay.]
My grip on the phone turned stiff…again with the lie.
My mood worsened as I told her, “I will talk to you later. Bye.”
I disconnected the call and started walking.
Why…just why is she lying? Doesn’t that mean she wants to hide what actually was the reason for her to leave the house with that man last night?
I hated this…why did she have to lie? Why…
….
“Are you okay?”
“Ah!” I was startled to find a hand on my shoulder.
I turned to look at the person and said, “Yes, everything is good, Takeshi-san.” I didn’t want to let others know what was wrong, that’s why I forced myself to smile.
This is tough. To act.
Takeshi-san frowned as he asked, “You didn’t sleep? Your eyes are sunk in.” He noticed…that means others noticed too.
Am I looking pathetic to everyone around me right now?
“Tell me Yuto…is everything good back home?” He asked with a frown of concern on his face.
I slowly nodded, “Yes…everything is fine.” I sounded convincing, but did I?
He sighed and got up, “Let’s take a break.” He pulled me with him to the side and brought two coffee.
“Thank you,” I gave him a polite bow and took a sip of coffee.
Ah, it helped me wake up.
He looked at me intently before asking, “Something happened with your wife, no?”
I leaned back against the wall and stayed silent. I generally don’t prefer talking to someone about my personal affairs, but right now, maybe I need a few words of advice. That’s why I remained silent, implying the obvious answer.
He rested his hand on my shoulder, and he said, “Yuto, I know that you dearly love your wife, so if there are some problems between you two, why don’t you try to resolve them? I know you don’t want to get separated from her, do you?”
I shook my head. My fingers trembled at the very thought of living without Asuka.
She has become such an important part of my life that even a single day without her makes me lonely and hopeless.
I can’t imagine a life where I return home and don’t find her. Eating food without her or not seeing her smile in the morning when I leave.
I just can’t.
I turned toward Takeshi-san before asking, “What should I do? I feel…Asuka might be losing interest in me.”
I didn’t tell him explicitly that I had seen her with another man. But the only reason she would have gone to someone else was because she wasn’t getting much time and attention from me.
I was a fool to work so much so I could gift her something good. How could I forget that for her, my presence was the best present.
Well, it was once.
Takeshi-san told me seriously, “Try to patch things up. Bring her flowers and spend time with her. Do what she likes and talk things out. Remember, marriage is not a joke where you can break up with your partner over an argument.”
I slowly nodded. He was right. I don’t want to lose Asuka. I definitely don’t want to get separated from her.
That’s why, I was going to win her love again.
