Returned home early, saw my wife embracing another man - Chapter 10- Dinner
After Satoshi-san left I returned home and started preparing dinner.
I really hadn’t eaten anything good for the past two days, and I knew Asuka must be hungry, too.
That’s why, I brought some chicken and vegetables and was currently preparing a good amount of food for two hungry people.
After I talked with Satoshi-san I realized he wasn’t arrogant or held any grudge against me. I mean, the daughter of a billionaire was kept in such poor condition.
Not to mention, in the past, I said something rude about his mother…yet all I sensed from his voice was respect.
From our conversation, it appeared Asuka had actually torn all her relations with her family and only talked to them once a month so that I wouldn’t find out.
In my eyes, that was going a little too far. But Satoshi-san said that she has been living like this, without a family, for years now so it wasn’t anything drastic.
I understand that.
In the past, Asuka was bullied because people believed she was fake. Her gentle and kind nature was taken as a facade and people made her life a hell in the school.
Satoshi-san didn’t tell me but something happened in the family years ago, and Asuka’s brother didn’t trust her. That’s why she started to feel as if she was isolated. That, there was no one for her.
That’s why, Satoshi-san trusted me. Because I was there for her, unknowingly supported Asuka in her most vulnerable phase.
While I don’t actually remember what I said I am happy I was able to help Asuka recover from her trauma.
‘Now, it’s done.’ Satisfied with my skills, I placed the dishes on the tray and walked into the room—only to find Asuka restlessly looking around; her hair was messy, and her eyes were swollen.
Then, her eyes landed on me and she paused.
It seems she thought I left.
Her eyes were trembling slightly as she called out, “Y-Yuto-kun…”
“Can you bring the foldable table for me?”
I asked and she nodded instantly before getting up.
Once she set the table, I rested the dishes.
“I am sorry for sleeping for so long…I should have prepared something before sleeping.”
“With that mental state and how tired you were, I wouldn’t have allowed you to cook.” I simply told her as I picked up my chopsticks.
She looked at me with a gaze that I failed to understand. Relief? Maybe.
“Satoshi-san came to deliver a news. Your mother has awoken.”
Her eyes widened and then relief washed over her face.
“After dinner, let’s go meet her,” I suggested which made her flinch.
“Yuto-kun too…?”
My brows elevated, “You don’t want me to introduce you to your family?”
She hurriedly shook her head, “That’s not what I meant…I mean…father would be there too.”
I sighed, “Asuka…do you want to get separated from me?”
Her eyes slowly stretched as she firmly said, “Never.”
“Then, since we are married, we must introduce each other to our family, no?” I added, “I don’t know what you think but I have forgiven your father for what happened. I am sorry I always appeared so unreliable that you never told me about your parents.”
Tch…I shouldn’t have said that. She is still stressed about her mother and now I…
Asuka rested the chopsticks on the bowl, her gaze lowering to the table as she said, “I have betrayed you, Yuto-kun…but I was scared. I wanted to get rid of any possibility that could become a reason for our separation.”
I stared at her for a few seconds. Torn between feelings. I am hurt that she had kept such a big part of her life hidden from me, and on the other hand, I couldn’t keep looking at her like this.
Anxious, scared…listless.
Picking some rice, I told her, “Asuka…I won’t abandon you. Regardless of what happened, I promise I won’t ever leave you.”
When I held her hand and walked down the aisle I took an oath. Despite the situation, I will always support her and be with her.
And just because she hid things about her personal life from me, I simply couldn’t leave her.
Forget about principles and all crap, I know my heart won’t allow me. I love her.
“Yuto-kun…” She extended her hand and held mine, “…give me another chance. No more secrets between us anymore. I promise.”
I nodded, “Alright. Now finish the meal. Your mother must be waiting for you.”
Seeing my smile, her shoulders lost their strength as she nodded and we began to eat.
Not so long after, I called a cab—only to hear Asuka say, “Won’t it be too costly?”
I laughed, “Being the son-in-law of a billionaire, I can at least afford this much.”
Her smile dropped as she looked down.
Crap…I meant to lift the mood. Does she think I am taunting her?
“Ah…” A soft yelp escaped her lips as I held her hand suddenly.
“Now don’t look so down or your parents will misunderstand.”

A/N:- Thanks for reading.

Very curious where this will go from here. The whole potential NTR aspect seems to have been resolved…
… or has it? (DUN DUN DUN)
More seriously, I am wondering if this turns into more of a family drama kind of story.
After all the NTR/Revenge books and Youtube vids I’ve been reading/listening to where ML gets revenge on FL for betrayal, this is honestly refreshing. Yes, wife did hide a big secret from husband, but I think her reason is sort of justified after learning about ML past with her father. I’m hoping for a happy ending for both ML and FL this time
I dont think they should divorce or anything. But she literally was worrying that he would misunderstand if he caught her. Meaning, she knew what it looked like.
While she wasn’t cheating, a secret this big is still a huge break of trust. I hope it’s not blown over with just the one-off “no more secrets” comment.
Even worse is she only came clean because the situation turned into her worst fear. She also has a huge lack of trust in him. All-in-all, they need counseling.
