Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V4 Chapter 09
Chapter 09: “An Uninvited Guest, Huh?” ②
“Ugh, this sucks. I was curious about what kind of place Tono was, but it’s so boring.”
“Compared to the Kyoto yokai, it’s pretty dull here. But that’s fine. Yokai are meant to serve humans. I can’t stand those over-the-top Kyoto yokai with their loud presence.”
“Even so, the Kyoto yokai are strong, though.”
While exchanging casual banter, a beautiful boy who could easily be mistaken for a petite, slender woman, and a hulking man with bear-like hairy arms, had snuck through the multiple layers of the village’s barriers and entered uninvited.
The large man wore jeans and a T-shirt, but the shirt seemed far too tight for his muscular frame, straining at every seam.
The boy, with shoulder-length ash-blond hair, had a refined, almost delicate look. His calm expression contrasted with the clear disdain in his eyes as they glanced at the yokai around him.
In contrast to the oversized man, the boy wore a slightly loose T-shirt, ankle-length slacks, and sneakers—an outfit that seemed more suited for a casual outing with friends than a visit to a yokai village.
“Honestly, this countryside vibe is just the worst for me.”
“Kyoto isn’t exactly a bustling metropolis, you know.”
“I never said Kyoto was a big city. Anyway, let’s hurry up, catch some yokai to use as shikigami, and get back to Kyoto already.”
“Yeah, you go ahead and do that. I’m here to pick a fight with some strong yokai!”
“Yeah, yeah, do whatever you want.”
The boy shrugged in exasperation as the hulking man, indifferent to the stares of the yokai, began wandering through the village as he pleased.
As the yokai cast frightened glances at them, the man snorted dismissively.
“These guys might be a letdown. Every single one of them is shaking in fear just because they know we’re psychics.”
“Anyone would be scared with a bear-sized guy like you walking around.”
“Who are you calling a bear? Don’t flatter me!”
“…That wasn’t a compliment.”
The boy sighed deeply.
He had planned to come to Tono alone, but this troublesome man had spotted him at Kyoto Station and tagged along. On top of that, the boy ended up covering the cost of the bullet train tickets.
His luck was terrible.
“For me, it’s fine as long as I find a yokai that could make a strong shikigami. Ideally, one with abilities focused on killing power.”
“The Abe clan sure has it rough! Those Shuten-doji are getting rowdy, the nine-tailed foxes are hiding in the shadows… no wonder your stress levels are through the roof!”
“My stress is building up right now, thanks to you. Well, whatever. As long as I can get a pawn strong enough to kill those oni, that’s all I need. The Kyoto yokai are too scared of us to show their faces, so even finding pawns is a hassle.”
“Ha! The Abe clan is so weak. If you don’t have pawns, just train yourself! Look at my magnificent body! The more you love your muscles, the more they’ll reward you!”
“Yeah, but you’re so hairy I can’t even see your arms under all that fur.”
As they exchanged playful banter, the two began sizing up the yokai in the village.
Unfortunately, none of the yokai seemed brave enough to confront the intruders.
“—Oh? Why are there humans in a place like this?”
The boy frowned as he noticed two young men running toward them.
“And one of them’s a psychic… as for the other one, what’s that? Magic? Doesn’t seem like a demon, but this is getting interesting.”
Intrigued, the two stopped in their tracks.
“Who the hell are youuuuuuuuuuuuu!? The yokai here are mineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”
“No, they’re not. Calm down. Ugh, here we go, another annoying event. Hey, you two! I don’t know where you’re from, but turn around and get lost. If you leave now, I’ll let you off the hook. Go on, shoo, shoo.”
The young man yelling furiously was Yusuke Sado, while the other, looking thoroughly fed up, was Senju Nanamori.
The two psychics from Kyoto looked at them with puzzled expressions.
“What’s with these guys?”
