Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V3 Chapter 61
Chapter 61: “Isn’t That a Kappa and Spring Cabbage?” ①
Natsuki was trembling with excitement.
Right in front of him was a kappa—something he hadn’t even seen in the other world. It was a cute little kappa with a small, three-head-tall body. It looked almost like a mascot character, so adorable it was hard not to find it endearing.
“Kappapapapapapapapapapapa.”
“Oh, Natsuki’s broken.”
“Does he have some kind of trauma with kappas?”
“Looks like he’s just overwhelmed with emotion.”
As Natsuki pointed at the kappa and trembled uncontrollably, Koume, Ginko, and Senju all gave their own thoughts on the situation.
The kappa, shaking just as much as Natsuki, was probably scared because it had no idea what was going to happen now that it had been captured.
“…Wait a second, ladies… Why is this kappa carrying a bundle on its back?”
“Now that you mention it, that’s true.”
“I didn’t notice.”
“How could you not notice?”
Responding to Senju’s sharp comment, they ignored the still-dazed Natsuki, whose mind had frozen at the sudden appearance of the kappa, and tried to grab the bundle.
“—Whoa, this is heavy!?”
It was so unexpectedly heavy that they accidentally dropped it to the ground.
The bundle hit the ground with a thud, and as the knot came undone, a bunch of cabbages rolled out.
“…Huh? Cabbage?”
“Looks like some fine spring cabbage.”
“Why cabbage, though?”
Ginko, Koume, and Senju all tilted their heads in confusion.
They couldn’t hide their surprise that it was cabbage, not the usual cucumber, that had rolled out.
“…Please, let me go.”
“It talked!!!”
Natsuki’s eyes lit up as he shouted in surprise at the kappa, which spoke in a cute voice that sounded like a little bell ringing.
Meanwhile, Koume and the others were thinking, “…This guy definitely stole the cabbage.”
Since the kappa’s first words were “Please, let me go,” they were almost certain it was a confession.
However, Natsuki, not noticing any of this, placed his hands under the kappa’s sides and lifted it up.
“Kappa! You’re real! And you can talk! There weren’t any in the other world, so I never thought I’d find one in the local river! Also, you’re kind of cute, like a mascot! Even though you’re all slimy!”
“Uh, um…”
“Yes, what is it!?”
“My family is hungry. Please, could you overlook the cabbage I stole?”
Natsuki was silent for a moment but then smiled.
“Sure!”
“Thank you so much!”
“But can you tell me one thing?”
“Y-Yes?”
“Why cabbage? Isn’t your main food cucumbers?”
“…Cucumbers alone don’t provide enough nutrition.”
“Oh, uh, sorry about that.”
Natsuki was taken aback by the reasonable explanation for why the kappa had stolen cabbage instead of cucumbers. Feeling apologetic, he gently set the kappa down.
“Wait, no, this isn’t okay! Kappa stealing vegetables is a serious issue for farmers! They’d be within their rights to smash your plate for that!”
“Piii!?”
“Smash the kappa’s plate!? —Then I’ll have to fight you, Ginko-san!”
“Why are you so attached to this kappa!?”
“There were no kappas in the other world!”
“Good thing they weren’t! You probably wouldn’t have been able to beat them!”
As Natsuki looked ready to draw his holy sword, Ginko shouted at him.
At that moment, they sensed a strong spiritual presence approaching, something beyond human.
“Up there!”
Just as Senju warned them, a new kappa dropped down from above.
“I am Kappa King! I won’t forgive anyone trying to capture my kin!”
This kappa was tall, with a perfectly proportioned body and bulging muscles. The plate on his head gleamed as he glared at Natsuki and the others.
“…Uh… This is kinda gross. Also, why did a kappa come from the sky?”
Natsuki, who had been excited about seeing kappas, suddenly regained his composure when confronted by this not-so-cute version.
