Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V3 Chapter 08
Chapter 08: “Did you come to meet the victim?” ①
Warning: Contains unpleasant descriptions.
Yusuke Sado had been shuttered in his room for days. The curtains were drawn, the door locked, and he lay in bed, shivering under a blanket.
He hadn’t left his room except to use the bathroom and hadn’t eaten or drunk anything.
His family, used to seeing him lead a normal college life, was worried. He ignored calls from his parents, messages from his sister, and texts from friends.
The reason for his seclusion had occurred a few days earlier.
On his way home from university, pondering whether to join a friend for dinner, Yusuke was suddenly summoned to another world.
He quickly realized he was in a typical “other world” scenario, which initially excited him for a few hours.
However, Yusuke found himself summoned to a kingdom on the brink of destruction by demonic forces.
A noble, boasting of past glories, explained that they had previously summoned a hero who nearly devastated the Demon Lord’s forces but died in a final clash with the Demon Lord himself.
Yusuke was told he was to be the hero’s replacement.
Thinking he might listen and help due to his naturally kind nature, Yusuke considered their request.
However, that was his first mistake.
He had no choice in the matter.
He was told to fight for humanity until his death.
In exchange, they simply offered him women.
Appalled by such a vulgar proposal, his astonishment was undeniable.
The past hero was known for his strict adherence to morality, and it seems he never took advantage of anyone.
This led to the noble’s regret as the hero left no descendants in the other world. Therefore, they commanded Yusuke to continue the battle and leave descendants. No, more precisely, he was ordered to do so.
Following that, Yusuke endured days like hell.
Having never taken a life, he was now ordered to kill criminals, slaves, and their families. When he refused, saying it was impossible, they tortured him, making him suffer deliberately. The only release from this agony for them would be for Yusuke to end his life.
Being forced to kill, he was given unhygienic food, which he ate reluctantly.
Naturally, he fell ill after a few days.
He was ridiculed as weak and a waste of resources.
Even when ill and bedridden, he was forced to fulfill his “nightly duties” with women he could not possibly like.
To make matters worse, even after gaining some power, he was compared to the hero and scorned as worthless.
People he saved threw stones at him asking why he hadn’t helped sooner. The demon races directed hatred towards him, and neighboring countries treated him disdainfully and eventually sold him off as a breeding tool.
There was one girl who seemed to care for Yusuke, but it turned out she was just another noble’s plaything and didn’t think of him at all. She, too, met a gruesome end at the hands of demons.
Yusuke continued to suffer terribly and finally thought that dying would be a release, deliberately letting the demons kill him.
Eventually, he was able to return to Earth.
Although years had passed in the other world, not a single minute had gone by on Earth.
Yusuke felt as if he had been dreaming, but the harsh days he had experienced screamed that it was all real.
He didn’t know who to talk to or how to explain it, and he believed no one would trust his story.
Feeling betrayed by humanity, he became fearful of people and locked himself in his room for days.
Recently, something suspicious calling itself “God” had spoken to him. Not knowing if he was going insane or if he was already there, Yusuke kept crying.
―Knock, knock.
“Sado-kun, let’s play.”
It was daytime, Yusuke realized from the light leaking through a gap in the curtains, though he had lost all sense of time and was dozing off due to fear-induced sleeplessness.
An unfamiliar voice called him out.
“―Hic!”
He didn’t understand why someone was inside the house, why they were calling him, or what they meant by playing. It was terrifying.
―Knock, knock.
“Hey, Sado-kun, let’s play.”
“Hiii!”
The voice sounded like a young boy’s, slightly childish.
Yusuke didn’t have any younger friends.
So, who was it?
―Scratch, scratch, scratch.
“Hey, hey, can you hear me?”
“Stop it!”
Sounds of scratching at the door ensued.
Yusuke felt like he might wet himself.
But after a while, the presence behind the door disappeared.
It might have been his imagination.
Maybe it was just a nightmare because he had nodded off.
“―Phew.”
Yusuke sighed deeply and felt a shadow loom over the window behind him as he turned around.
“―Hiiiiii!”
Then, through a gap in the curtains, Yusuke’s eyes met with those of an unfamiliar boy peeking in.
“Let’s plaaaay.”
“GYAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!”
〜〜Afterword〜〜
Senju: “Why does this feel like a horror story!?”
*Note: This is entirely from Yusuke’s perspective. Natsuki is actually trying to be friendly.
Since there was some unpleasant development in the story, here’s a little extra.
■ Meanwhile, in Aomori:
Mammon: “Samael-sama! I got the first email from Ren! Mammon, mammon!”
Sama-tan: “Oh? Does he seem to be doing well?”
Mammon: “…He wrote that it’s tough because he’s supposed to be learning cooking, but the angel keeps flirting with the goddesses all the time. Mammon, mammon.”
Sama-tan: “Ah, I heard Alphonse Michael is romantically involved with the Norn sisters.”
Mammon: “I see, quite the harem guy, mammon!”
Sama-tan: “…You don’t have to keep saying ‘mammon’, you know?”
Mammon: “Mamama, mammon, mammon! Hahaha! I’ve been mammoning since I was born, I can’t help it!”
Sama-tan: “You used to talk normally in kindergarten, didn’t you?”
Mammon: “Ninety percent of my life is mammon, mammon!”
Sama-tan: “Is this my fault?”
Mammon: “By the way, a certain video creator has invited us to collaborate.”
Sama-tan: “That’s what I’m saying! Why do they come to you, Mammon? They just want you to say ‘mammon-mammon’, right?”
