Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V2 Chapter 23
Chapter 23: “Maybe this time an angel has come?” ①
“Ah… I was tired even in my dreams.”
Waking up from sleep, Natsuki got out of bed and stretched his body with a groan.
The previous day, Lucifer and Satan had appeared, and unexpectedly, a sukiyaki party took place.
Being underage, he didn’t participate in the drinking and went to bed. But even in his sleep, visions of another world plagued his dreams. Later he discovered that Tsukuyomi-sensei was Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto, making it a tiring day even in sleep.
Dressed in a tracksuit and a long-sleeve T-shirt, he left his room and headed for the living room.
“It reeks of alcohol!”
The smell of various kinds of alcohol made Natsuki frown.
On the round table, cans and bottles of beer were scattered about. It seems someone had gone out to buy more, even bringing back a large sake bottle.
His mother, seemingly having had a good time, was sleeping peacefully using a cushion as a pillow.
Koume was holding a large sake bottle, snoring with her belly exposed. Lucifer was leaning against the tea chest, asleep with a can of beer still in his hand.
Ginko, though it was okay because she was in a tracksuit, was sprawled out in a big way, with her legs wide open. Moreover, she had her feet resting on Satan’s face, who was dozing off with his head on the table.
It was astonishing to see Ginko, who could do something that even a hero returned from another world couldn’t, whether it was intentional or accidental.
“Finally woke up? It’s already half-past eight. Breakfast is ready, so hurry up and wash your face and brush your teeth.”
“Yes!”
A young man with his blond hair tied back, wearing an apron adorned with frills like that of a newlywed wife, was washing the frying pan and dishes.
It seems he was cleaning up after the drinking session of the night before.
Grateful to the young man, Natsuki washed his face and brushed his teeth. After straightening his bed hair with water and returning to the kitchen, he found that the young man had prepared rice, miso soup, rolled omelette with dashi, stir-fried spinach and bacon, and natto for him.
“Come on, sit down. Let’s eat.”
“Okay. Then, let’s eat.”
“Let’s eat—yumm!”
The first thing he tasted, the miso soup, had a wonderful harmony of dashi and miso that didn’t interfere with the meal, yet it wasn’t without its own presence. The glossy white rice and miso soup were so delicious that they alone could make the meal satisfying.
Furthermore, the carefully thick-rolled dashi omelette was so beautifully shaped that it seemed as if a professional had made it. Of course, the taste was exquisite too. The use of dashi different from that in the miso soup, with a hint of sugar, was a nice touch.
The stir-fried spinach and bacon were cooked without oil, using only the fat from the bacon and butter, which was unexpectedly light. Instead of just salt and pepper, a bit of black pepper added a delicious kick.
The natto seemed like it was bought from the supermarket, but he was happy that it was served with finely chopped green onions.
“It’s sort of okay, isn’t it?”
“No, no, no. It’s really delicious! Mom’s cooking is good too, but this is really delicious.”
“Stop it, there’s nothing special even if you praise me that much.”
The young man laughed a bit shyly at Natsuki’s enthusiastic praise.
Without saying anything, the young man served him seconds as Natsuki quickly finished his meal.
Growing Natsuki easily finished his second helping in no time.
“Thank you for the meal!”
“Yeah. It was nothing much.”
(Phew. It’s been a while since I had a proper meal on a Saturday morning. Usually, I just eat leftovers from Friday night or grab some bread. Well, it was really delicious, though. Now then.)
Watching the young man’s back as he took the dishes and went back to washing up, Natsuki realized it was time to return to reality.
“―By the way, who are you!?”
In response to Natsuki’s question, the young man, still wearing his apron, turned around holding a foamy sponge and a teacup.
“I thought you might recognize me once you’ve had a proper meal. I admire your spirit. Well then, allow me to introduce myself. I am Alphonse Michael, the eldest son of Archangel Michael. I am known as the strongest househusband angel, having defeated the Nordic goddesses, the Norn sisters—self-proclaimed cooking goddesses on social media—not just once, but three times in cooking contests!”
〜〜Afterword〜〜
When did Alphonse Michael start deluding himself into thinking he had won a battle against the Norse gods?
Archangel Michael has always talked about battles, but Alphonse has always been about cooking. Incidentally, a long time ago, in an era when Alphonse lost to Koume in cooking… there wasn’t much to do but boiling or grilling.
Enemies are about to show up, and there will be battles with Alphonse, so look forward to it!
