Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - Chapter 55
Chapter 55: “Unexpected turn of events, isn’t it?” ③
“Understood! So, I’m allowed to kill, right? Leave it to me!
After hearing the situation from Kaya, Natsuki smiled.
Deep down, he felt relieved knowing that he wouldn’t be criticized for killing a god.
“Yura-sama, to hear Kaya-sama’s story and respond with a smile, that’s truly wonderful.”
Hiragi remarked with a tone that was either sarcastic or admiring, it was hard to tell, through the rearview mirror.
Kaya then scolded her,
“Hiragi, refrain from making unnecessary comments.”
“My apologies. Yura-sama, I shall arrange for a punishment later.”
“No, thank you.”
For some reason, Hiragi seemed slightly pleased at the prospect of “punishment,” which Natsuki firmly declined.
(Personally, I believe that if someone wants to die, killing them is an act of mercy. After all, even a god wouldn’t want to live at the cost of their daughter’s life.)
“But, I have a question.”
“What is it?”
“Why does the sacrifice have to be a young girl?”
He didn’t say it aloud, but he thought why it couldn’t be a man, or someone older, or even a criminal if necessary.
He wondered whether to admire the fact that they were trying to offer the daughter of the family head, doing their best to avoid sacrificing anyone else, or to lament that such a wicked custom still exists.
“Simply put, it is believed that the younger one is, the less tainted they are. It doesn’t have to be a woman, but currently, the Minazuki family only has Mio and Miyako.”
“Didn’t you think of abducting someone from somewhere else?”
“Such actions are not feasible nor intended in modern times. The Minazuki family exists to protect people. However, I have always believed that a family that must sacrifice a daughter to her father as an offering should perish.”
“Indeed.”
“Yura-sama, you speak lightly of killing gods, but may I hold you to that expectation?”
In Kaya’s pleading eyes, Natsuki nodded.
“Leave it to me. But just one thing.”
“What would that be?”
“If the Minazuki family ends up demolished, I’m sorry. I apologize in advance.”
“Is Yura-sama’s power truly that great?”
“Ahahaha, that’s something I might share if there’s a chance someday.”
Natsuki was aware of his own strength.
However, he couldn’t exactly gauge how powerful he was.
In the other world, he was capable of defeating the demon lord and the demon god, arguably making him the strongest.
But what about on Earth?
He had managed to fight an angel bearing the name of Lucifer, yet they hadn’t clashed with their full strength.
Koume, while attacking Natsuki, had still considered human society to some extent. Natsuki had done the same. They hadn’t needed to use their full power, but even so, both had held back.
Without fully understanding the strength of the local god, Natsuki assumed that anything bearing the name of god must be formidable. At the same time, if it couldn’t maintain its power without sacrifices, its strength might be within the realm of imagination.
He didn’t intend to be overconfident, but based on the faint sense of power he felt when investigating the Minazuki family, he believed he could kill it without going all out.
The issue lies in controlling his power.
With more time, perhaps over the span of a year, he might have been able to adjust, but it seems wiser to act quickly.
He had wanted to kill it on the spot if possible, but refrained due to the uncertain extent of the collateral damage.
“Ah, sorry, just one more thing,”
“Yes?”
“Is it really okay to kill a local god, even if it’s only nominally a god?”
“It’s not without issues. However, local deities are part of nature. If one disappears, another will take its place. For a while, it might make it easier for those with malicious intent to act, but we’ll do our best to manage with the Minazuki family’s spiritualists.”
“Just one thing.” Kaya continued,
“If the local god disappears, it’s possible that the other gods will become aware of Natsuki-sama’s existence. Please consider this in your decision.”
“…What would you do if I said I’m against it?”
Natsuki asked, to which Kaya responded with a fleeting smile.
“He’s someone I truly love. I would challenge him, even if it means risking my life. Although it might be in vain, it could serve as a catalyst for something.”
“…It’s fine. Too late to worry about it now.”
He had thought that his existence would eventually become known to the gods from the moment he met Koume. Whether that day comes sooner or later, it doesn’t really matter to him.
“I’m grateful. I’ll do anything to repay you.”
“Ah, in that case, may I ask for a favor?”
“Of course. If it’s within my power, I’ll do it right away.”
“Well, I have a consultation… There’s this guy at my school, Yuto Miyahara.”
Natsuki thought this might be a good opportunity to snitch on Yuto.
“Yuto Miyahara…? That name sounds familiar.”
“Kaya-sama. He’s the boy from Miyako-sama’s school who was suspected of having the power of charm.”
“…Ah, yes, I remember now. However, our investigation concluded that there was no issue.”
“When I encountered Yuto yesterday, I felt the power of charm. It was weak, so it should only serve as a trigger, but he has a troublesome personality, so I was wondering if something could be done about him.”
It seems that the Minazuki family was already aware of him.
Natsuki could only smirk in amusement beyond surprise.
Though it was deemed not a problem after being investigated, having been troubled by him before, he wanted to snitch, if only as a form of revenge.
“Miyako also once mentioned there was a student who made her uncomfortable. That was Yuto Miyahara, right? He seems to be the touchy-feely type.”
“It appears that there’s a bit of charm power in those touches. It wouldn’t be a problem if one had resistance to it.”
“Is there actually any harm being done?”
“Well, not harm per se, but he’s been creating a sort of harem.”
“…I’m sorry, but the Minazuki family cannot just eliminate a boy who was previously deemed not a problem.”
“Oh no, that’s not what I’m asking for!”
Natsuki hadn’t expected Kaya to misunderstand and think he wanted Yuto eliminated. While he would appreciate such a solution, having someone vanish in modern society would be a major issue. Especially someone as conspicuous, for better or worse, as Yuto.
“My apologies. There is, however, something that can be done.”
After hearing Kaya’s proposal, Natsuki grinned.
〜〜Afterword〜〜
We’ll revisit Yuto’s story later.
But before we wrap things up, there’s one more event I’d like to share.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could follow and leave a review.
Thank you very much!
