Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - Chapter 29
Chapter 29: “Who Cares About the True Nature of God?” ①
“My psychic ability is special. My own spiritual power isn’t much, but anything that catches my eye can be frozen in time—”
“Hero Punch — Thunder!”
With a crunch, Natsuki slammed his fist into the man’s face.
Of course, he didn’t kill him. There were things he needed to get out of the man.
Stepping on the back of the man, who was writhing on the floor with a smashed nose, Natsuki smiled.
“Lucky you took off your sunglasses. I can heal you, but I can’t guarantee I’d get all the shards out if they were broken.”
“Gueeeh!”
As Natsuki applied more pressure with his foot, he felt the man’s ribs start to crack.
When the man could no longer scream from pain, Natsuki lightly applied a healing touch, then grabbed his hair and whispered in his ear.
“What were you planning to do with the alien you captured?”
“Y-you, to me…”
“It’s better if you answer honestly, you know? I’m really irritated. I thought I was finally back in my homeland, but Japan turns out to be a fantasy, my childhood friend is unexpectedly trash, my former stepsister has a dead personality, and another childhood friend seems to be plotting something. What are you going to do about it?”
“That, I… have nothing to do with it.”
“Whether it has something to do with you or not is for me to decide! Anyway, you’re a resident of this fantasy world too, right? Besides, haven’t you ever watched a movie? If you don’t show respect to aliens, it could lead to an all-out war! It’s too late to say ‘I should’ve known who I was dealing with.’ Can you take responsibility for that, huh?”
While venting the frustration he had accumulated at school, Natsuki repeatedly smashed the man’s face into the floor, still gripping his hair. After a while, he healed him a bit.
“Alright, so what were you planning to do with the alien you captured?”
“…”
“Just so you know, if you don’t answer honestly, I’ll do something even more extreme.”
“Okay, okay! I’ll tell you! Stop it! The others here barely know anything about psychic matters, unlike me.”
“I see. And?”
“These guys found a Grey but mistook it for a kappa. I knew it was an alien.”
“I don’t see the resemblance between Greys and kappas. They don’t even have dishes on their heads.”
“To amateurs, all unknown creatures are the same!”
Natsuki imagined a Grey alien ravaging a cucumber field in his mind. It sort of made sense, but something was off.
The color wasn’t green, and they didn’t have dishes or shells.
It might be possible that ancient people saw aliens and the story got twisted into today’s kappa image through a game of telephone. But since this man didn’t recognize the alien as a kappa, there might still be real kappas out there.
He decided to test the waters.
“So, kappas exist, right?”
“Of course, they do. They’re not unusual for us!”
Natsuki felt a bit relieved.
“What about Tsuchinoko?”
“How should I know about such legendary creatures like those in Mukaijima city? Ask those who study that stuff at the Institute!”
“That’s too bad. So, let me get this straight. The idiots at this facility were trying to dissect an alien thinking it was a kappa, which is hard to believe, but okay. Then why did you just let it happen?”
The idea of immediately dissecting a kappa upon discovery was baffling, but it was equally strange that the man, knowing it was an alien, allowed the dissection plans of those who didn’t understand its existence to proceed.
“You’re free to remain silent, but don’t think I’ll heal you every time, okay?”
“…Okay, okay, I get it. Please, no more. I just wanted to confirm something.”
“What was that?”
“I believe that gods are beings that appeared from space.”
“Hmm?”
Natsuki was taken aback by the sudden philosophical statement from the man claiming to be a psychic.
