Reincarnated as the Villain Who Experiments on Orphanage Kids – Why Are the Test Subject Girls Begging Me for "Night Experiments"? - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Three Test Subjects With Special Circumstances
“Phew… looks like I finally shook her off.”
I managed to get away from Priere and headed straight for the underground experiment site.
This place had been here even before my past-life memories came back. It was way bigger than you’d expect for something underground. Including the storage room, there were three rooms in total.
The equipment was pretty decent too. There was drinking water and a toilet, so no problems there. There were even beds meant for human experiments, so I could use one of those to rest if I needed to. It was pretty much the perfect hideout.
Well, not exactly perfect.
If you looked closely, the shelves were lined with monster specimens and weird experimental tools I couldn’t even identify. There were also piles of books that looked like dissection manuals about the human body.
Plus, being underground meant it was always damp and humid, so it definitely wasn’t the nicest environment. Honestly, it wouldn’t be surprising if people thought ghosts haunted the place. It was basically a haunted spot.
So normally, anyone would be scared. That would be the natural reaction.
Normally, yeah.
“Haa…”
But the older kids from our orphanage didn’t seem scared at all.
“Sai, running away any further is pointless. Just give up already.”
The one who calmly walked into the experiment site was Test Subject Number One—the suspicious person who had attacked my bed earlier.
It was Priere.
She came closer with those strong, determined eyes and had me backed against the wall in no time.
“So, are you ready to do the experiments now?”
“No, I’m not.”
“You’re ready to do the experiments, right?”
“I just told you I’m not!”
While I was desperately dodging Priere’s questions, a voice came from behind her.
“Hey, what’s going on? Are you still trying to run?”
A girl with silver hair appeared from behind her. Her ears were long, and her skin was so pale it looked almost see-through. Her face was young, but her features were so perfectly arranged that “beautiful” fit her better than “cute.”
Her name was Rafal.
She was one of the last surviving elves from a clan that was said to have gone extinct. In the original story, she became the next test subject after Priere.
Rafal grinned as she rested both hands on Priere’s shoulders and leaned against her, giving me a teasing look.
“Master, you’re underestimating us way too much. We’ve grown a lot, y’know? We’re proper adults now. So don’t treat us like kids anymore.”
As she said that, she suddenly grabbed Priere’s chest with both hands.
“Kyaa—!”
“See? They’ve gotten this big already.”
“What are you doing?!”
Priere’s face turned bright red with anger. Rafal just smirked and stepped back.
“That’s what I mean. We’re adults now.”
So the two of them were adults, huh? Their argument had some weight, but that had nothing to do with this.
“But if you’re adults, then doing experiments on you is even more impossible. Society wouldn’t allow experimenting on grown women, right?”
“Hmph! Trying to run is useless!”
I looked away from the two of them and said that, but then a sharp voice rang out from behind them.
Heavy footsteps thumped on the floor as a girl with red hair appeared.
Her spiky red hair and sharp, slightly upturned eyes gave her a really strong-willed look. But in reality she was a total klutz and the one who needed the most looking after out of the three.
Her name was Fioraia.
She was a descendant of the Knight King who once saved the world. In the original story, she became the test subject after Rafal. She stood in front of the other two with her arms crossed, planting her feet firmly.
“Sai, prepare yourself.”
She stared at me with those piercing eyes. Out of the three, Fioraia was the tallest and had the best build. Her chest was also well developed, so it stood out even more when they stood together.
Not that I usually paid attention to the kids’ chests, but after what just happened, I couldn’t help but notice.
“Prepare myself for what?”
“The experiments, obviously.”
“Normally it’s the other way around, isn’t it?”
The ones who should be preparing themselves are the test subjects. Why does the mad scientist side have to steel themselves?
“I already told you I’m not doing it!”
“Hmph! Don’t think you’re getting off easy. I’m the one asking for this. You’re not ignoring me.”
She puffed out her chest and raised her voice. Looked like even as an adult, Fioraia was still as spoiled as ever.
Back when she was little she couldn’t brush her teeth properly and would force me to do it for her, or she’d suddenly wake me up because she was scared to go to the toilet alone. Just thinking back brought up so many annoying memories.
But the biggest hassle right now was definitely this moment.
Before I knew it, the three of them had me completely surrounded. No way out. The situation was totally hopeless.
“We need the experiments. You understand that, right, Sai?”
Priere asked me.
It was true that all three of them had special circumstances. Priere was actually the king’s secret child, Rafal was one of the last elves, and Fioraia was a descendant of the Knight King. They were all way too important, people connected to the very foundation of this world.
As for why three such special girls were in an orphanage, well, that was probably because my mad scientist instincts had been spot on.
I’d used every connection I had to gather kids who could become test subjects, and this was the result.
Still, I had no idea why these three would need experiments. There wasn’t a single person in this world who needed them in the first place.
And what was up with those outfits?
I’d been wondering about it the whole time, but the three of them were wearing black cloaks. They looked exactly like members of some evil organization.
Of course, the cloaks couldn’t hide how cute they were. It was kind of adorable, like kids playing pretend, but still really weird.
While I was staring at them in confusion, Priere took a step forward.
“A big fight is about to start. We’ve been preparing with everything we had for these five years, but we’re still really anxious. That’s why we need your experiments, Sai. With the experiments, we can get stronger.”
“………………Huh?”
“Master, I want to get even stronger too. I want enough power to save the world.”
“………………………”
“Hmph! I’m already the strongest! But if the experiments can make me even stronger, then I guess I’ll let you do them on me.”
“………………………”
The two of them moved even closer, saying these confusing things.
“What the hell are you even talking about? Save the world? Get stronger? What do you mean?”
“It’s no use playing dumb. We know everything you’ve been doing behind the scenes, Sai. We made this organization to support your work from the shadows.”
“What did you make?”
When I asked, Priere’s eyes sparkled. Then, with a huge smile on her face, she said,
“Actually, we started an organization.”
