Reincarnated as the Villain Who Experiments on Orphanage Kids – Why Are the Test Subject Girls Begging Me for "Night Experiments"? - Chapter 31
Chapter 31: She Jumped Me in My Sleep
After Priere went back to her room, I sat in the underground lab holding my head.
“…This is bad.”
Really bad. Super bad.
Priere was way more of a mad scientist than I thought.
She was just as crazy as the scientists in Rebellion.
And Fioraia turned out to be way more cat-ear than I expected too.
Just as cat-ear as the scientists in Rebellion were crazy.
“…This is bad.”
The situation was seriously bad. If things kept going like this, there would definitely be more victims.
After all, the orphanage had tons of kids who could become test subjects. To a mad scientist, this place was a gold mine of talent.
“What do I do about this…”
Maybe I should just smash the whole lab?
Or clean out all the equipment and results.
Either way, I needed to make it hard for Priere to run experiments. That was urgent.
“Might as well do a big cleanup.”
I decided to combine cleaning with some serious decluttering.
I stuffed the suspicious tools from the shelves into bags.
Some of them were pretty rare, but I wasn’t going to do any experiments myself.
I already gave up on making cup ramen, and I can’t mass-produce the [Master Ball] since I made it randomly. I don’t have any plans for experiments anyway.
Running a peaceful orphanage shouldn’t involve experiments at all.
So I threw everything out without a second thought.
“Whoa, where did she even get this skeleton from?”
Priere’s personal storage room had tons of stuff with unknown origins.
Where on earth did she get all this?
“……………………”
I frowned and kept stuffing suspicious items into bags.
Right when the bag was getting full, my eyes met it.
“…Ah.”
A ball sitting calmly on the top shelf.
It was the [Master Ball] that did a big job in the fight the other day.
It looked like purple flesh and blood, pulsing like a heartbeat with thump thump vibrations.
Jimbara was still trapped inside that creepy, violating thing.
A whole month had passed, but the reason I left it in storage was simple.
“…What do I do with this?”
I was stuck on how to deal with it.
The ball was still vibrating, so his heart probably hadn’t stopped.
I couldn’t believe anyone could survive a month without food or water, but he was turned into a monster by the drug. Normal human rules didn’t apply.
If I opened it, there was a real risk the fight with Jimbara would start all over again.
That’s why I was stuck.
Other options were leaving it for years or handing it over to the country, but the second one seemed tough.
If they asked how I caught him, I’d be in trouble answering. So leaving it was the only choice.
Plus, the [Master Ball] couldn’t get found by the country anyway.
It would almost definitely cause problems, and in the worst case it might even lead to a clash with the Holy Sword Association.
“I’m totally stuck…”
Yeah, completely stuck.
In the end, all I could do was look away from reality and leave it alone.
“Why did it end up like this…”
I’m just a ramen shop guy.
I only live for ramen spirit.
“…Anyway, back to cleaning.”
Decluttering has a way of calming your mind.
Believing that, I started cleaning again.
I shoved all the weird-colored medicines, unknown herbs, monster bones, and a bundle of red hair that was probably Fioraia’s into the bags.
I had no idea if it was burnable trash or not, but I planned to bury it all anyway, so it didn’t matter.
Burning it could be dangerous, and letting it fall into someone else’s hands was risky too. When in doubt, bury it.
Most problems can be solved by burying them.
“Alright.”
After I finished cleaning up, I grabbed the bags and headed to the yard.
I picked up a shovel and dug a hole with all my strength.
“Yeah, this should be deep enough.”
It probably took about an hour. Once the hole was dug, I buried the bags.
I covered them with dirt carefully so they wouldn’t be dug up easily. That solved everything.
I buried the [Master Ball] too while I was at it. Priere might mess with it if I left it out. Having something like that where kids could reach it was way too dangerous.
Most of all, I didn’t want to look at that gross thing anymore. So I buried it all in the dirt and called it solved.
“Dirt is amazing.”
There’s a saying about wanting to crawl into a hole when things get bad, but for a coward like me, dirt is a true friend.
You could even call it my biggest supporter.
“If I get reborn, I wanna come back as ramen or dirt.”
That’s what I thought as I finished my big declutter.
“Time to sleep.”
“…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………”
*
“………………Huh?”
Early morning. The second I woke up, I noticed something was off.
The futon felt really warm inside.
No, warm doesn’t cover it. It was almost stuffy hot.
On top of that, the futon was squirming, and that woke me up instantly.
“…Eh?”
This was wrong. Totally wrong.
Futons aren’t supposed to squirm.
There shouldn’t be something touching my lower body.
No breath-like feeling on my thighs.
That was way too weird no matter how you looked at it.
“……………………”
I slowly lowered my gaze.
There was clearly something inside the futon.
And it was pretty big. Definitely not a little kid.
It was a long-haired girl who could break into my locked room like it was nothing and whose hair was poking my thigh.
“…Sigh.”
Should I open the futon or not?
Honestly I just wanted to go back to sleep without thinking, but the squirming wouldn’t stop. If I left it alone, who knows what would happen.
I steeled myself and flipped the futon open.
“Sai?”
In that moment, my eyes met the source of the squirming.
Crawling over my lower body like she was lying on me was, sure enough, Priere.
“What are you doing?”
When I asked, she gave me a huge smile.
“Good morning.”
“No, not good morning. I did lock the room, right?”
“Good morning.”
Priere repeated the greeting, then started squirming again.
She slowly crawled closer, leaned over me, and brought her face near.
She got so close our noses almost touched and asked,
“What were you doing last night?”
“Huh?”
She was smiling sweetly.
But her eyes weren’t smiling at all. They looked like they were searching for something.
“After I went back to my room, you did something, didn’t you?”
“…Must be your imagination.”
“Then why are all the things in the storage room gone? Did you throw them away?”
“N-no, I was just doing some cleaning—”
“Cleaning…”
Priere muttered it, then nodded like she understood something.
“Perfect timing.”
“…………Huh?”
“I was just thinking of using that storage room for a new experiment.”
“………………………………”
What was this feeling? I didn’t fully get it, but I had a really strong bad feeling.
I thought she would get angry, so the reaction surprised me, but her eyes were even weirder.
They looked like a scientist staring at a lab rat. Definitely not the kind of look you give an orphanage director.
That’s why the cold sweat wouldn’t stop.
“Sai.”
She grabbed both my hands so I couldn’t move them, then begged me from so close I could feel her breath.
Her voice was sweet and tempting.
“Won’t you become my test subject?”
Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad.
