- Chapter 29/30 - The Subordinate Sulks/The Misadventure of the Magical Girl
With the cooperation of a childhood friend taken hostage, Boss somehow managed to extract a promise from the Subordinate not to kill the hostage.
On the other hand, having been tricked by the duo’s strategy, the Subordinate was significantly sulking.
“Anyway, I’m just a crazy woman nobody cares to watch over!” she declared, making a sulky face.
Boss resolved to cheer her up again, attempting to improve her mood.
However, it was the hostage’s childhood friend who spoke up first.
“Subordinate-chan, do you like Akkun?” she asked abruptly.
Despite the sudden question, the Subordinate answered firmly.
“Of course, I love him. I wish we could be alone together soon. It would have been nice if you had just died quickly,” she rattled off rapidly.
The childhood friend laughed mischievously, going, “Oh, wow,” to her rapid response.
“But you can rest assured. I have a husband,” she added.
Surprised, both the Subordinate and Boss exclaimed, “What?!”
“It’s nothing strange,” the childhood friend said as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Although Boss felt a bit complex about it, he sincerely thought it was good news.
For the Subordinate, this was indeed a piece of good news.
Without a moment’s delay, the childhood friend continued to talk to the Subordinate.
“By the way, Subordinate-chan, what do you think is in the drawer at my parent’s house?” she asked, unable to hide her excitement.
“It’s Akkun’s old photos!” she revealed.
At those words, the Subordinate’s face momentarily lit up, a detail the childhood friend didn’t miss.
“Do you want them?” the childhood friend asked with a smile.
Biting her back teeth, the Subordinate responded, “Please forgive my earlier rudeness. Yes, I would like them.”
The Subordinate bowed her head.
“I’ll give them to you!” the childhood friend patted her head.
“By the way, Onee-sama, aren’t you thirsty?” the Subordinate quickly offered to prepare some tea, causing the childhood friend to burst into laughter as she accepted the cup.
As the childhood friend and the Subordinate began to chat, they became very close after sharing nostalgic stories about Boss.
“This surely saves the childhood friend’s life,” the Subordinate thought, just as a knock was heard at the door.
When Boss opened the door, Aiz and an alien hurriedly entered.
◆
Boss was reassured that the life of his childhood friend, taken hostage, was saved as she got along well with Subordinate.
Suddenly, Aiz and an alien hurried to Boss’s location.
“It’s a big problem, Boss!”
Aiz exclaimed with urgency.
“These girls are amazing,” the alien commented, laughing as if enjoying the crisis.
“By ‘these girls,’ you mean they’re here again…” Boss groaned, holding his head. He should have known they wouldn’t stay silent if it involved hostages.
Still, Boss had been avoiding the inevitable, but now that it had arrived, he began to gather his thoughts on how to deal with the situation.
Boss realized something odd. Usually, they would come directly to his room. Why weren’t they here, and why did Aiz and the alien come to this place instead?
A bead of sweat rolled down Boss’s cheek. He had a bad feeling.
“Where did they come from, Aiz?”
“It would be faster if I showed you. Can you come with me?”
Boss, Subordinate, Aiz, the alien, and, incidentally, the childhood friend hostage walked through the dark hallway.
Creepy noises emanated from the laundry room just ahead, their destination.
Aiz spoke in an apologetic tone, “It seems they mistook your room for… this place.”
As Boss reluctantly opened the door to the laundry room, he was greeted by three magical girls looking sorry for themselves, several broken washing machines, and scattered clothes and puddles.
The eyes of the red magical girl met Boss’s.
A lively BGM started to play.
“Striking down evil, Magical Aim!” declared the red magical girl proudly.
“A glimpse of justice, Magical Peak!” the green magical girl also vigorously announced.
“When justice gazes, evil is also being watched, Magical Sight!” declared the blue magical girl just as boldly.
After their declarations, they all seemed to deflate.
“What’s going on here?” The boss asked the red magical girl.
“We’re so sorry…” The magical girls sincerely apologized.
Hmm, Boss pondered, crossing his arms. Amidst the mysterious atmosphere, the blue magical girl spoke up.
“We’ll… pay for the damages…”
The volume of the blue magical girl’s voice faded.
“No, well, that’s not the issue,” Boss said, talking it over.
“And you girls, always breaking my windows to get in, right? I’ve turned a blind eye to that too, but what were you thinking, breaking them?”
The magical girls seemed even more sad, realizing the truth of their actions.
“Well, it seems no one was hurt, and the laundry room isn’t that damaged, so it’s fine.”
Boss patted the red magical girl on the shoulder.
“Thank… you so much…” The red magical girl timidly expressed her gratitude.
Feeling guilty for lecturing such young girls, Boss simply responded, “Yeah.”
“So… can we start over?” The magical red girl asked, looking up at Boss.
Boss smiled, sighing slightly, and said, “Sure.”
