The Princess Is In A Good Mood
It’s me, Ebato Ren.
One week after the previous disturbance.
After the closing ceremony, the SHR teacher announced the start of winter break. (Note : SHR stands for Short Home Room, which is a session, usually held 10 minutes each morning for students to settle in so teachers can take attendance)
After the order was given, there was a lot of commotion in the classroom.
…Well, I don’t know how I feel, but it’s noisy, noisy, noisy.
I’m thinking about that, but from today, I’ll be working four six-hour days a week during the winter break.
Originally, part-time work was prohibited at my school, but it was allowed during the long vacation.
I had a habit of saving money, so I wanted to get a part-time job while I was on that kind of long break.
I’d like to do it while I’m on vacation.
Though I could never do customer service or anything like that….
I would have to go to my part-time job a little while after I got home later. But started to get impatient and decided to leave school early. I also had a sip of coffee on my way home.
*
It was now evening, I had finished my part-time job and was on my way home with a canned coffee.
I was tired, but I didn’t have to serve customers, and it was a white-collar job with a decent salary.
I hadno complaints about such a part-time job.
The only thing was that I didn’t get noticed when I was given a job. …But I guessed I could manage.
“──… Ohh dear? Good evening, Ren-san.”
As I was walking through a park near my apartment to take a shortcut, Sayo approached me.
I was aware of her, but I had no business with her, so I tried to pass through…
“…Yo.”
“What are you doing here at this hour?”
…No, I think that’s my line to say.
What are you doing here…?
By the way, Saya was reading a reference book, taking advantage of the lighting that was installed, I didn’t know why.
….Well, I’ll answer her question I guess.
“It’s a part-time job. I’m working a shift starting today during winter break.”
“If you’re doing it during winter break, that means you’re following the school rules.”
Sayo laughed, “You were sleeping in class.”
…Shut up, I’m sorry for that, okay.
I frowned and glared at Saya.
“….What’s up, Sayo?”
“Ahhh, you called me by name for the first time.”
…Does she need to worry about that….?
Sayo laughed, “Fufufu~.”
…From the looks of things, she seems to be in a good mood.
I mean, at least answer my question…
I’m here today for a change of scenery….
Wrong. It’s a change of pace…!
“Isn’t it hard to read…? It’s dark already.”
Even though it was evening when the lights were on, it was now December ….and the sky was already tinted with a dark blue.
Even without the need of proving it, one could tell it was already dark. Just go home already… So I thought.
“It’s not easy to read. But it’s interesting to do something fresh like this.”
“…You have a weird taste.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment.”
…No, like why?
Well, I’m not saying it in a bad way, so I guess it’s fine….
“But then again, it’s winter break from today.”
“Well, yeah.”
I wondered what it was all of a sudden, but I nodded at least.
Saya, who seems to be in a good mood after all, opens her mouth with high tension, her cheeks relaxed.
“I think school is fun, but it’s a little tiring, and I’m a little tense.”
“Really?”
I’m not really asking, but ….she’s pretty hyped up, isn’t she?
Thanks to her, I’m having a hard time getting my mind off of things….
But still, it was childish to be in a good mood during winter break, heh.
I just thought it gave me more free time and I didn’t like long vacations.
So it didn’t matter. ….I was about to go home.
I finished my coffee, tossed it in the trash, and forced myself to cut the conversation short with, “See you later.”
I took my eyes off Sayo and started walking to the apartment, and Sayo followed me for a short run.
“Now what….?”
“I was thinking of leaving too. Can I join you?”
“I don’t like it…”
It seemed like a hassle, and I didn’t want to go home with the “princess” as much as possible…
I know some of you thought that we went back together on Ch13….
Actually, I haven’t been home with her yet because I took a detour after that.
“I thought you would say that. So, let’s go home together.”
“No, why?”
…What the hell is she talking about…?
It’s kind of a hassle now.
I let out a sigh and trudged off again.
I sighed and walked again.
She seemed to be in a very good mood and was always smiling, although she didn’t seem to be aware of it.
That face of hers… I wanted to flick my finger to her forehead… but let’s just let it go…
“….And by the way, you have been messaging me every day for the past week, what’s up with that?”
Yes, actually Sayo had been messaging me every day since we exchanged contact information last week.
…I’ve been dutifully replying to her, but do we really need to exchange contact every day like that?
I don’t think so…
“I don’t mind. Ren-san, you’re the first person I’ve exchanged contact information with outside of my family, you know?”
“Wait, you haven’t exchanged contacts with other friends of yours or anything?”
When I asked this question with a jittery look in my eyes, Sayo smiled bitterly.
I thought I stepped on a landmine….
“I have not. To begin with, you are the only friend I have.”
Oh~ yeah, this girl was abused in Ch4…
…Maybe women in general don’t like her?
Even if that’s the case, it’s kind of bad to poke around unprovoked…
I was hesitant and replied, “I see.” and reluctantly went home with “Princess.”
