Chapter 1 – There is a Very Beautiful Girl in My Class
In my class, there is a beautiful girl with long beautiful hair. She has an indescribable aura that sets her apart from the others and makes her stand out wherever she is. At the entrance ceremony, she was everyone’s center of attention.
I, Yuuto Asai, had never thought I would ever have anything to do with such a beautiful girl.
“Oh, Tachikawa-san’s here.”
“You’re right! She’s too cute today.”
“You, go and say hello.”
“No, no, no, it’s impossible. There’s no way Tachikawa-san would bother with guys like us.”
As soon as she entered the classroom, she was the center of attention from her classmates. I was watching her with my elbows on my desk, looking at her with a sideways glance.
She’s as popular as ever…
You might think it’s unlikely, but it’s been two months since the school entrance ceremony and there’s not a soul in the school who doesn’t know who she is. That’s how popular she is.
Her name is Mina Tachikawa. She is a perfect girl, first in her grade, with excellent grades and athletic ability. She is very popular, but she doesn’t like to hang out with many people. I felt like she was forcing herself to associate with other people.
Tachikawa entered the classroom and immediately took her seat. I heard a chair being drawn out in front of where I was sitting.
Yes, the seat in front of me is Tachikawa’s seat. She and I were seated back to back when we changed seats a month after we entered the school.
Probably no one would not be pleased with the outcome of this seating change… No one except me.
In fact, after we switched seats, some of my good friends told me it’s not fair and that I should change seats with them. Well, it’s not that easy to do that. I mean, if I could change, I would.
Sitting in her seat in front of me, she was doing something facing forward for a while after she sat down in her seat, but suddenly she silently turned around and turned her whole chair toward me so that we were facing each other for some reason…
My classmates who were watching me gave me strange looks, but I didn’t care at all. As always… It’s not worth worrying about.
We were facing each other and it was awkward, so I looked out the window to avoid eye contact with her. Then, Tachikawa poked the desk with her index finger and greeted me.
“Good morning, Asai-kun.”
“Good morning…”
I have a pretty good idea why she greeted me.
Two months ago, she wasn’t the kind of girl who would care about me, but the day we switched seats, she suddenly started talking to me about a lot of things…
“You haven’t told anyone, have you?”
She whispered in my ear so that only I could hear.
What is she really talking about? I think she asked me this yesterday too. Just how many times does she have to ask me this?
“I didn’t. How worried are you?”
I gave Tachikawa the same reply as yesterday and she was relieved.
“Because if you ruin my image, which I’ve worked so hard to create since I started school, it’s the end of me. How will you take responsibility for that?”
No matter what, I’m completely the victim here. I just happened to be there and found out about it. I see no reason for me to take responsibility.
“Just because I know the real you, I won’t tell anyone. What’s the point in telling them?”
“B-Because…”
“Because?”
“No, forget it.”
After saying so much, in the end, she didn’t say anything.
But I couldn’t help noticing that people around me have been whispering about it. Even though I don’t mind it, I still hear it.
“Asai is lucky. I’m so jealous that Tachikawa-san wants to talk to him.”
“Maybe they’re dating?”
“S-Seriously…?”
Is this enviable?
People who couldn’t hear the conversation between me and Tachikawa might think we’re having a nice chat, but that’s not really the case.
Tachikawa started talking to me a lot after an incident a month ago.
