When I came to, I was in complete darkness. I seemed to be lying on a bed, but I couldn’t see anything at all. I groped around and found a switch on the wall. When I flipped it, the light came on and I found myself in a room surrounded by concrete.

There was a bed I’d never seen before. No. It wasn’t a bed. It was more like a capsule. It had all sorts of buttons on it, and on a small LCD screen, there were words like:

『Life Support System Disabled』

I didn’t understand any of it. The room had no windows, no TV or appliances, no furniture like a table or chair. There was no sense of daily life here. Looking around, I spotted a ladder made of metal. At the top was a hatch like the kind you’d see on a submarine.

There was nothing for me here, so I climbed the ladder and tried to open the hatch, but it wouldn’t budge. Was I trapped in here? I had to find a way out.

As I scanned the room again, I spotted a lever labeled 『For Emergency Use Only』 I pulled it, and the wall beside it collapsed with a loud crash. Beyond it… Was that a sewer? It led straight into a sewer system.

But it was pitch black. I couldn’t see anything. Still, there was no point in staying in that room. I walked through the dark sewer tunnel, and eventually, I found a place where light was pouring in from above.

Finally, a way out. I climbed the ladder and emerged outside…

“Watch out—!”

Screeeeech! Thud!

“Uwaaaahhhhhh—!”

And was immediately hit by a car.
