My Popular-as-Hell Best Friend Is Annoying, So I Want to Get Him a Girlfriend and Shut Him Up - Chapter 6: Epilogue
Chapter 6: Epilogue
After arriving at school and entering the classroom, I tossed a morning greeting at the cool dude already seated.
“Yo, Stud Warrior.”
“That’s the complete opposite of last time, Pit-Stain Mask.”
“Cut it out with the subtly nasty nicknames.”
“Look who’s talking.”
“Fool, I’m considerate enough to keep it above a kid’s comprehension level.”
“I see. In that case, I’ll be considerate too, Bubble-Bath Sensei.”
“Where’s the consideration for me?”
That’s way too humiliating, especially since I’ve never even been to one of those places.
Whoops, no good—Uryu’s idiocy almost made me forget the main agenda.
“Whatever, that’s not important. What happened afterward?”
“Afterward?”
“Don’t play dumb. You went out with Kirita Akari, didn’t you?”
“Oh, that.”
“As her guarantor, I have a right to know.”
“Since when did Kirita-san commit a crime…?”
“The crime of not telling me anything. Spill it.”
“Fine, whatever.”
Uryu scratched his neck, looking mildly annoyed, and muttered under his breath.
“To put it simply—I got rejected.”
“…Huh?”
This is bad. I’ve been mishearing things a lot lately. I can’t be worrying about other people’s aging when I’m like this.
“Let me hear that again. What’d you say?”
“I said I got rejected.”
“Whaaaat!?”
“Whoa, that was some intense buildup.”
“Who cares about that? That’s not the point!”
Barely containing my surging anger, I got in Uryu’s face.
“Rejected!? How!? YOU, whose only talent is being popular!?”
“That’s harsh.”
“Tell me everything. I’ll figure out why this happened.”
“Everything, huh? It was over in a flash.”
“A flash?”
“When I got to the meeting spot and said, ‘Your outfit looks nice,’ she yelled, ‘I’m so sorryyyy!’ and ran off.”
“…”
“Kirita-san looked different than her usual vibe when she’s at school—her hair was styled, her outfit was well thought out. But rejection’s rejection, nothing I can do.”
“—Time for a lecture.”
“Huh?”
With my anger hitting its absolute peak, I resolved to march straight to Class 2-D.
I stood up and pivoted 90 degrees to the right.
“Hey, Yukiya, morning homeroom’s about to—”
“Just wait, Kirita Akariiiii!!!”
I charged forward with a speed I wouldn’t even show at the sports festival’s sprint.
For once, Uryu was actually proactive, and she broke his spirit? Did she think I’d let that slide?
It’s lecture time. As her mentor, I’ve got to teach her the harsh realities of life.
No way I’m letting my shot at peace slip away like this!
And so, today, too, I meddled in Uryu’s love life—for my own sake, of course.
