Kissing My Former Best Friend’s Little Sister
After breaking up with my childhood friend, I return to my home where I live alone.
“Welcome back, senpai!”
“I’m home.”
As soon as I step inside my house, a cheerful voice greets me.
Rinka-chan who is wearing an apron, is in the kitchen busy cooking.
After washing her hands in the sink, she walks over to me.
“Were you able to break up properly?”
“Well, the breakup wasn’t exactly smooth, but yeah, I was able to break up with Airi properly.”
When it was about time for me to meet Airi, I asked Rinka-chan to head to my home first.
Since I don’t want give Airi any unnecessary openings to blame me, I didn’t want Rinka-chan to be there with me when I break up with Airi.
“So from now on, I’m your girlfriend, right?”
“Yeah, and from now on, I’m your boyfriend, Rinka-chan.”
I turn my head to the side, trying to hide my blushing face.
Suddenly, I can smell her sweet scent.
I’m being hugged tightly.
“I’m so happy! We can be lovey-dovey legally from now on.”
“Legally, huh…well, I guess that’s true.”
When I was still dating Airi, I couldn’t flirt with Rinka-chan in public.
But now that I’ve ended my relationship with Airi, there is no reason for her to complain about what we do.
“I love you. I really love you, senpai.”
“…I love you too.”
Just a few days ago, I just see Rinka-chan as my best friend’s little sister, nothing more, nothing less.
I always thought that she’s cute, but I didn’t have any romantic feelings towards her.
However, in these past few days, a lot have changed.
She empathized with my feelings, is genuinely concerned for me, supported me, expressed her affection, and brought light into my darkest moments.
It’s hard not to fall for someone like her. I think I’ll grow to love Rinka-chan even more as time goes on.

Some time has passed, and I just finished the dinner Rinka-chan made for me.
“Senpai, your smartphone has been ringing non-stop for a while now. Is that okay?”
Rinka-chan points to my smartphone lying on the floor. Messages from Airi are constantly flooding in.
“It’s fine. There’s no point in replying her.”
“Senpai, you’re surprisingly cruel, aren’t you?”
“What would you do if you were in my position, Rinka-chan?”
“I’d block them immediately.”
“I guess you can’t say much about me then. But well, it might be better that way.”
I pick up my phone and quickly block my childhood friend’s contact. The once-noisy smartphone becomes quiet after that.
“By the way, Senpai.”
“Hmm?”
“Since we’re alone, should we do something that feels more like a couple?”
“Something that feels like a couple?”
“Yeah, like…a kiss.”
Rinka-chan puts her index finger to her lips and shyly looks away. Seeing her like that, I can’t help but to blush.
“Isn’t it a bit too soon…?”
“I don’t think it’s too soon at all.”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah.”
The atmosphere feels like we can really kiss. My heart races unexpectedly, and I find it hard to keep calm in this situation.
“…it’s my first time, so…please be gentle.”
“Are you really saying that, Senpai!?”
“…Yeah.”
“And you’re being passive!? Why are you closing your eyes and waiting like that! It’s supposed to be the other way around! I should be the one doing that!”
Rinka-chan busily points out my mistakes.
Finally, I manage to calm myself down a little. I open my eyes and lean closer to Rinka-chan.
“…are you sure about this?”
“Please don’t ask me that over and over again.”
“I’m sorry.”
“This is also my first time, you know?”
We look at each other in the eyes.
Both of us are blushing red from embarrassment.
Rinka-chan gently closes her eyes. With that as a signal, we share a kiss.
I can’t tell if it’s long or short. I’m just simply cherishing the unfamiliar sensation as our lips touch.
“Hehe…you’re embarrassed, Senpai.”
“Yeah.”
“From now on, let’s get even more lovey-dovey.”
“Y-Yeah.”
For now, I’ll just go along with it.
“Ah, that’s right.”
“Hmm?”
“I feel like the order is a bit off, but can we change the way we call each other?”
“Change the way we call each other?”
“Yes, I’d like you to call me by my first name without any honorifics as a commemoration of our relationship.”
“Is that something to commemorate?”
“I don’t mind if you continue to use ‘chan’ as well, but I think calling me without honorifics makes me feel like I belong to you.”
“Makes you feel like you belong to me, huh…”
In any case, it seems my girlfriend wants to be called by her name without any honorifics.
I clear my throat and…
“Then, from now on, I’ll call you Rinka.”
“Yes…and from now on, I’ll call you Toshiya.”
My cheeks flushes when she suddenly calls me by my name.
We both fall silent.
I take a glance at the clock and see that it’s already quite late at night.
“It’s getting late, you should head home.”
“Y-Yeah. Well then, I’ll get going now.”
“I’ll walk you to the station.”
“Ah, no. It’s fine.”
“Let me do at least that much. I’m your boyfriend, after all.”
“…then, I’ll take you up on that offer.”
We both stand up and start making our way to the station.
While holding hands and chatting casually, we arrive at the station.
It’s not that far from my house to begin with. It’s just about a ten-minute walk.
In front of the ticket gate, Rinka-chan—no, Rinka reluctantly lets go of my hand.
“Well, see you tomorrow then.”
“Yeah, be careful.”
“Okay. I’ll contact you later.”
“I’ll be waiting.”
Rinka waves her hand lightly and head towards the ticket gate.
However, she suddenly stops in her tracks and comes back to me.
“Senpai, can you bend down for a bit?”
“Hmm? Sure.”
As I bend down, she gently cups my cheek with both hands and steals a kiss from my lips.
“You let your guard down, Senpai.”
“……”
With that, she passes through the ticket gate with a carefree smile on her face.
I’m stunned for a while as I watch her leave.
…damn it. She’s too cute.
Hiding my blushing face, I squirm alone.
This is bad. Even though it’s nighttime, there are still people around. I shouldn’t attract too many strange glances.
I turn around.
Just as I’m about to head back home—at that moment.
“What was that…Toshi-kun?”
There stands my childhood friend.
Her face is twisted in confusion.
