ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“I humbly request your advice!”
It was one day with Golden Week just around the corner. After school, in the classroom. Kaho Hoshino said that in an oddly formal manner.
“Hey, Hiro-san, Hiro-san.”
“Hmm?”
“Have you ever had someone come to you for advice?”
“Ah, I feel like that’s almost never happened.”
“Right. The only thing I remember is you consulting me about wetting the bed, Hiro-san.”
“Are we still dragging that up?”
“If I recall, that time it was less of a consultation and more like a debate. It was quite a meaningful discussion.”
“Let’s not dig up my dark past, okay?”
So, what were we talking about again?
“I humbly request your advice!”
Hoshino declared it again with enthusiasm. Oh, right, that.
“Hey, Hiro-san, Hiro-san.”
“Yeah?”
“What do you think she wants to consult us about?”
“Let’s see…”
“I believe it must be that matter.”
“That matter?”
“Yes. Despite having relatively few appearances so far, Hoshino-san has already created two ‘lucky pervert’ situations. I believe she wants advice regarding that.”
“I see. That’s possible.”
“Situations like suddenly tripping and showing her panties, or getting splashed with water and having her underwear become see-through. What do you think, Hiro-san?”
“Definitely calculated.”
I mean, I’m happy to see it! But if it’s intentional, that’s kind of scary.
“I see. As for me, rather than such ‘lucky pervert’ situations, I would approach things more directly, so please rest assured.”
“I have no idea what’s supposed to be reassuring about that.”
Anyway, what was it again?
“Come on already! Stop with the married-couple comedy routine! I have something to consult you about! And I’m not being calculated!”
Hoshino shouted, clearly running out of patience. It wasn’t a married-couple routine. Yuki was the only one doing the comedy routine.
“Married couple…”
And don’t go blushing and reacting with a “kyaa♡” on your own.
“So? What’s the consultation?”
“To begin with, why us?”
I asked Hoshino.
“Well… because I think you two are the most suitable.”
“What exactly have you seen in us?”
“Who knows?”
Even after hearing that entire exchange, she still wanted to consult us?
“Come on, stop teasing! I really want to talk to you two!”
“Hmm…”
Seeing how earnest Hoshino was, Yuki and I switched gears.
“Then let’s at least hear her out.”
“Yeah. I don’t know if we can help, though.”
“Okay. Thank you.”
With that, Hoshino began to speak. A secret she had apparently never told anyone before.
“I… have someone I like.”
Someone she liked. Hoshino had definitely said that. This meant it was a love consultation, right? I felt even less confident that I could be of any help.
“C-could it be… Hiro-san, by any chance…?”
Oh, this was bad. Yuki-san was starting to radiate a genuinely dark aura… She looked like she might go Super Saiyan.
“N-no! No way! It’s not like I like Asama-kun or anything! Absolutely not!”
O-oh… That felt like I just got rejected at full force, didn’t it? N-no, I didn’t have any feelings for Hoshino either, but hearing it stated that clearly still stung a bit.
“I see. That’s a relief.”
The ominous presence vanished, and Yuki smiled. For now, it seemed the world had avoided destruction.
“So, from here on is the main point…”
And so Hoshino continued.
The person she liked was a boy who had been her childhood friend. They ended up going to different schools in high school and had grown distant. She wanted to do something about their current situation. She wanted us to lend her some ideas.
“A childhood friend…”
Yuki murmured, her voice carrying a sense of empathy. At the very least, Hoshino’s story had stirred something in her. As for me… Honestly, I didn’t know. Did I really have the capacity to comment on someone else’s love life?
“So, do you have any good ideas? Maybe?”
Having finished speaking, Hoshino asked brightly, as if finally freed from her tension.
“Well, even if you ask me that…”
“Basically, are you hoping to become a couple with him?”
“Uh… hmm. I guess… yeah… I think so… probably.”
Hoshino answered, sounding a bit unsure.
“In that case, I think it would be best to meet him directly and make an appeal. Like this.”
Yuki suddenly hopped closer to me and wrapped her arm around mine.
“And then like this… you press your chest against him as well. See? Just like that, Hiro-san would fall instantly.”
“H-hey, cut it out, what are you doing all of a sudden!?”
I shook off her arm and stepped away from Yuki.
“H-he ran away, you know? Asama-kun.”
“That’s just because he’s embarrassed. Deep down, he must be absolutely delighted.”
“I-is that so…?”
Hey, stop saying whatever you want, okay? Well, the feeling of her chest was incredible… How is it that even through clothing it feels that soft when pressed like that?
And since she suddenly got close, there was that faint, nice scent too…
“See? He’s already thinking back on what just happened.”
“I-I see…”
Hoshino nodded repeatedly as if convinced.
“Hiro Asama, you bastard! What kind of indecency are you committing at school!?”
“Whoa!?”
What the heck, Isogai, you were here? Don’t suddenly snap like that, you scared me… Also, the fact that he hadn’t said a single word until now was kind of terrifying. Is he socially awkward?
“However, I also agree with Yuki-sama! If a girl just makes a bit of physical contact, any guy will start thinking, ‘Wait, does she like me?’”
That was definitely based on experience. And Hoshino’s face was like, “I screwed up!” Apparently, she genuinely hadn’t noticed Isogai was there.
“Little pig.”
“Y-yes!”
“It’s fine for you to serve me, but please don’t just appear out of nowhere. It’s disgusting.”
“Y-yes ma’am!”
“Could you go home for today? And forget everything you heard here.”
Isogai shuffled out of the classroom. He seemed kind of pitiful today… Well, he had been eavesdropping on a private conversation, so it couldn’t be helped.
“Anyway, about your problem, wouldn’t the first step just be getting in touch with him?”
Without reestablishing contact, there was nothing she could really do.
“Yeah… you’re right… but…”
Since they had grown distant, Hoshino seemed to have her own internal struggles.
“It’ll be okay, Hoshino-san. If he’s a childhood friend you used to be close with, I don’t think he’d find it bothersome to suddenly hear from you.”
“You think so…?”
“Yes.”
“Then… maybe I’ll give it a try.”
And so, the first step in Hoshino’s consultation became drafting the message she would send to her childhood friend. Though, neither Yuki nor I really text much, so we were pretty useless about this.
“Ah, also… there’s one more thing. Something else I’d like to ask you, separate from this. Is that okay?”
And just before leaving, Hoshino stopped us to say that.
