My Beautiful Step-Sister, Who Is Too Much My Type, Keeps Pressuring Me to 'Get Married' Every Day and I'm Really Troubled ~She Takes Advantage of Being My Step-Sister to Tempt Me However She Wants!?~ - 14 - Mishizuku Is Angry
Mishizuku Is Angry
“Good morning, Mishizuku.”
“Good morning, Ichiiri.”
As I arrived at school and exchanged our usual morning greetings, Mishizuku spoke to me with a slightly irritated tone.
“Hey, can I ask you something?”
…It’s rare for her to speak in this tone, so I’m not sure what’s going on, but it’s definitely unusual for her to want to ask something.
“Yeah, what’s up?”
Maybe something unpleasant happened, and if I listen to it, it might help clear her mind a bit.
“Lately, I haven’t been able to hang out with my friends at all.”
Unexpected topic…Mishizuku, who originally seemed to have many friends, especially in the fashionable circles, not being able to hang out with them is quite surprising.
“Is everyone busy with something?”
“Oh, when I say friends, I mean a specific person, and I haven’t been able to hang out with that friend.” (Tl/n: ‘Tomodachi’ can be plural and singular)
“I see.”
I was initially surprised to hear that Mishizuku couldn’t hang out with her friends, but if it’s about not being able to see a specific person, it makes sense. Still, in the end…
“Then, is that friend recently busy?”
“Not exactly busy, but it feels like I’ve been blatantly pushed down the priority list.”
“That’s rough… Maybe you should try talking to them directly, even if it’s indirectly or subtly.”
As I was about to offer this advice, Mishizuku grabbed my cheeks and pouted, looking sulky.
“I’m talking about you though.”
“……..eh?”
My voice came out bewildered and somewhat goofy due to having my cheeks pulled, but it reflected my current state of mind.
Mishizuku stopped pulling my cheeks and continued.
“I haven’t been able to hang out with you at all lately.”
“Well, that’s because… there have been a lot of things going on with Yumi.”
“For Ichiiri, Yumi-chan is more important than me, huh? I guess so, I’m just a friend and Yumi-chan is your sister after all.”
Mishizuku spoke in a calm tone, but there was a hint of frustration in her voice.
“A-are you angry?” (Tl/n: dude, that’s like the worst thing you can ask)
“Not really? I mean, I’m not angry because I know the circumstances, but because I know the circumstances, I’ve been holding back my desire to hang out with you lately, right? So now, I’m just venting a bit of frustration. It’s like, even though it’s clear that Yumi is more important than me, it still annoys me a bit, you know?”
In the end, is she angry…? Still, since I talked to Mishizuku about Yumi, I haven’t hung out with her even once, despite us playing together quite frequently before.
It’s probably more accurate to say that it’s creating a complex state of mind.
“Sorry, let’s hang out together after school today.”
“Huh, really…? Is it okay with Yumi-chan?”
“There have been times before when I hung out with Mishizuku after school and came home late, so it should be fine for today… Besides, even if what I say now might not be very convincing, I really enjoy spending time with Mishizuku.”
“I-Ichiiri…”
Blushing, Mishizuku averted her gaze from me as she spoke.
“That was pretty smooth for Ichiiri.”
“What do you mean by ‘for me’!”
With such banter, Mishizuku and I went out together after school that day.
Perhaps because it had been a while, I found it particularly enjoyable to hang out with Mishizuku today… Sometimes, I felt like Mishizuku was looking at me with a new, intense gaze, but I decided it was just my imagination and didn’t pay much attention to it.
We had fun together until the end.
Then, around 7 p.m. when I returned home, Yumi greeted me cheerfully as usual.
“Welcome back, Onii-chan! You’re home late today, aren’t you?”
“Yeah, I was hanging out with friends after a long time.”
“I see~! Hey, onii-chan, how about we go out together again on the next holiday?”
Since there was no reason to refuse this, I decided to agree.
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
“Yay!”
And so, I agreed to go out with Yumi again on the next holiday. But little did I know at that time that our outing with Yumi would be witnessed by someone in the worst possible way…
