“Our problem right now is how to corner Yamazaki. I’ve done a lot of research but haven’t found anything. How about you?”

As I was getting comfortable with Hanako’s manner of speech, she suddenly got onto the main subject.

Most of the talking up to this point were between me and Hanako, and the rest were silently listening.

“What I have now are some photos of Yamazaki with suspected criminals and a LINE history chat.”

“Photos alongside criminals?”

The photo that Yuji gave me.

It’s just a “might be connected”… and I thought might not be hard evidence that can be used.

Upon showing Hanako the photo from my smartphone, she gave a surprised reaction.

I gave her a brief explanation of what happened on how the photos was very useful.

I also showed her the LINE history I got based on that.

“I’m glad it was useful. However, this alone won’t be enough just like the photos.”

I agree. From this, it can only be implied that they were acquaintances and had nothing to do with the incident in itself. 

As I nodded in agreement, Hanako started fiddling with her smartphone.

“This probably won’t be much use but, I’ll show it anyway. Here’s the photo of a woman who Yamazaki is currently pursuing. She seems quite the rich lady.”

Saying so, Hanako handed me her smartphone.

The girl in the photo had long black hair, just like Sara, wearing a dress. From the photo alone, she was very beautiful.

Well, she’s still no match to Sara-san.

“Let me see, let me see it too.”

“Kazunari-san, I wanted to see it too, please.”

I showed the smartphone to Natsumi-senpai and Sara-san who were peeking from my back.

 “So this is who Yamazaki is after… Huh? This girl is…”

“Hey Sara! Isn’t this Eririn?”

‘Eririn’? That way of calling sounds too friendly.

The one who answered Hanako-san’s question was Natsumi-senpai.

“Yeah. The girl in the photo was Eri Nishikawa and she used to go to our school. She was one of Sara’s best friends.”

“Would you stop saying unnecessary things, Natsumi?”

Natsumi-senpai went silent upon receiving Sara-san’s words which were too much to be called a joke.

“Anyway, we were friends. But then she moved and had to change schools. Are you still in contact with her, Sara?”

“I had contact with her once when at the start of the second year. She was busy so it was a brief conversation.”

So there was an opportunity to talk with her.

We’ve hit a deadend on the photos and the LINE history. I hope we could get something useful from here.

“So, can you try contacting her?”

Hanako-san has the same idea as me and wanted to capitalize on this unexpected turn of events.

She was amazing to talk with Sara-san directly. If someone from my school did this, they would probably be scared just talking with Sara-san.

Sara-san asked directly.

“I was surprised to learn that you know Yamazaki-san, Sara.”

“So you know him. Before anything, I want to confirm something. Please answer frankly. What is Kazuma Yamazaki to you?”

Certainly we cannot talk about sensitive details as long as we don’t know the connection between Nishikawa and Yamazaki.

If she was his fiancee, then we’ll need to explain to her what was happening.

However, Nishikawa grinned mischievously.

“There’s no need for worry, Sara. Yamazaki is an eyesore. However, I can’t just ignore him due to his business relationship with Father.”
