Let me be a mob! - Chapter 81- Idiot Jin?
[Jin’s POV: ]
I wanted to console Fiona and tell Amanda to talk a little politely with her, but in the end, I didn’t.
I felt it was for good that Fiona realizes something important. I do not accept Amanda’s every claim, regarding how Fiona was trying to pull me down with her since it wasn’t true. Fiona has become the reason why I was trying hard since I want to build a peaceful future for us.
But it was also a fact that Fiona wasn’t giving her all toward her progression and the way she didn’t rebuke Amanda and just stayed silent, I knew Fiona, not right now, but soon she would realize the hidden meaning behind Amanda’s bitter scolding.
‘Well, let’s get on with this…’ The Council President did the honors of tying the blindfold around my head.
I had my daggers in hand and at times of emergency, I could also call forth Fenrir.
I knew they were close to my backup but if possible, I want to collect at least thirty mana cores by myself today.
[Observation]
Spreading my mana around like a radar that would alert me to anything possessing mana inside the radius, I began walking forward with my weapon already drawn.
The training with Amanda, despite being brief, has helped me avoid wasting excess mana during just observation.
I now was able to spread my detection range up to a hundred meters with me as its center. If counted in diameter then it would be approx 30 meters.
Thankfully, Amanda and the other two were walking out of reach to help me avoid confusion.
Letting go of any needless thoughts at the moment, I connected myself with the surroundings like I was walking over a landmine.
“!!!”
Didn’t expect to sense something so soon, but not going to walk past it either.
The mana presence wasn’t huge which means that the creature was around F-rank.
I halted in my steps before tossing my dagger lightly and gripping the blade between my thumb and index finger.
With a deep breath, I calculated the distance and force required for my weapon to reach the target.
Once done, I brought my dagger beside my ear with its butt facing upward, before throwing it with a jerk just at the moment of release.
*SHLING*
My strength was nearing C-rank so it was given that the dagger would travel at a frightening pace, but the creature was faster as it dodged my weapon and began ascending from the ground level.
‘A flying type creature?’
When the thought came to my mind, I already infused myself with mana, and using my innate skill of Light, I leaped toward my prey, after judging the trajectory and the place of conjunction.
However, what I missed to judge was that there was a thing that doesn’t possess mana as well.
“Jin! Look out! ”
Fiona’s shout arrived a little too late since I already plunged my head deep inside what felt like a boulder.
Undoing my blindfold, I was met with darkness before I slapped my free hand on the rock and pushed my body out.
“Damn…you sure are a tough guy… “The reason Senior Eimi whistled in astonishment emerges from the fact that I have created a crater of human size on the rocky hill where I was currently stuck.
‘Not a compliment I wanted tho… ‘ I freed myself and looked at the Flaming bird soaring high in the air. Probably laughing at the amateur hunter it just played with.
I jumped fifteen feet down before dusting my clothes as I heard a voice I was expecting to hear.
“Entirely idiotic of you to launch yourself forward when you could have used icicle spears instead. Being unaware of your surroundings, your priority should lie in keeping the chaos afar from you.”
She…has a point.
I could have used a spirit-based attack to hunt the bird down rather easily since I could now cast ice spears not only from my hand but conjure them anywhere within a certain region.
I just could have locked the bird’s coordinates and launched four icicle spears from all cardinal directions. Knowing how they only could fly in a straight path without any medium to take any immediate turns, I would have hunted the bird in one go.
*Sigh*
I glanced at Fiona and could see how she was nervously clutching over a healing potion, probably unsure whether she should give it to me or not.
‘It seems Fiona got scared of the President… ‘It was amusing but I could understand Fiona’s stance. Amanda is a scary woman.
“Are you thinking something rude about me?” Amanda narrowed her gaze at me to which I laughed before blinding myself once again.
“Who knows…”

[At the same time]
“Who could’ve thought… ”
“…that two first years would be able to do something like this… ”
The two seniors appointed with Aiden and Brad couldn’t help but mutter under their breath as they saw their underclassmen fighting…no, massacring a horde of E-rank Pincer Hyenas like they were nothing but mere training dolls.
Brad was masterfully equipping his spear and utilizing his amazing spearman ship to slay more than three beasts at once. Minimal but lethal piercing concluded with the piles of dead beasts.
At the same time, Aiden was using steel knuckles to butcher his prey most frighteningly. He was smashing the life out of each beast in the most savage way. And the most ominous thing was that cold smile adorning his lips all the time.
If Brad seemed classy and sophisticated then Aiden came out to be wild and terrifying.
“Don’t touch my pile. “(Aiden)
“Who would look at that pitiful numbers.”(Brad)
At one point when the two seniors were mesmerized by the results of the two juniors, both Brad and Aiden stood side by side with their collected mana stones gathered at two different spots.
Brad has already hunted for 40 stones and Aiden 33.
While Jin was struggling to get his first mana stone, these two were acing the race without a hitch. And from the looks of it, before anyone, these two would surely break all the previous records within hours.
