Let me be a mob! - Chapter 29- True might~1!
In the novel that Jin read in his past life: on the representative selection test, Aiden was venturing along with his classmates toward the goal to hit first place and help his classmates to gain some points along the way as well.
But his trip came to an abrupt pause soon after when he went slightly deep inside the forest and found himself standing in front of a C-rank creature, Illusion monkey. One of the most cunning and combat-oriented creatures that is most feared in its terrain. The jungle.
Despite being only D-rank, Aiden was forced to fight the creature all on his own for the initial phase which forced Aiden to break his limit and show the world, why he was the protagonist. He indeed was provided support in the end, but when Rena and others arrived the monster was already on the verge of death.
And thus, it ended well…or what it was supposed to happen.
“W-What the heck is this…”
Brad, with his eyes wide agape, asked in a stutter as he stared at the new appearance which was far from what they expected to encounter in this jungle which was merely reserved for students to venture and capture flags in order to finish a measly test.
But this…
**Grrrr***
Its thick, matted fur clung to its massive frame like a cloak of death, and its razor-sharp claws glint menacingly in the faint sunlight, eager to rend flesh from bone. The creature seemed to be a ruthless predator, able to stalk its prey with uncanny agility and cunning, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce with lightning speed.
With each breath it takes, the monkey monster’s chest heaves and its muscles ripple with power, signaling its readiness to strike. Its red eyes gleam with a fierce intelligence that hints at malevolent espionage lurking within, driving it to hunt and kill without mercy.
Other than Brad, Jin, and Dia, the other two had already collapsed to the ground, unable to face such dense killing intent also the fact that mana no longer was with them as a support, worked as a handicap, thus incapacitating the two.
Yes, there was no mana remaining in the air because the Illusion Monkey has its passive skill barrier all the time surrounding its body and covers a certain area, depending on the creature’s age and size. And currently, Jin and the team were facing a full-grown adult as the face of their potential death.
“Brad! Protect the other two and stay cautious!!”
Jin shouted before he unsheathed his sword which was not much of a cost and had no added effect, signifying that Jin had no thoughts of facing such catastrophe on this trip.
‘Fuck…how can I forget… ‘
Jin cursed inwardly as his eyes drifted around for mere seconds, trying to find the person who left the monkey wild in this forest when in reality, this type of creature is found far away in the Southern Jungle.
Because this revelation happens very later in the story, Jin nearly forgot that it was one of the professors who left the Illusion Monkey on this trip because of jealousy toward Aiden.
Not because Aiden was gaining all the attention but rather because the bastard professor had his eyes on Dia and since that pervert was lurking around, he planned to have the monkey kill the protagonist first before he could jump in the fight and save Dia from the monster, become her knight in silver armor.
But how could Jin forget that plot has shifted and Dia more than Aiden, seemed interested in him thus leaving Jin in such a messy situation?
‘How foolish I can be… ‘
Reprimanding inwardly in defeat, Jin focused on the matter at hand as he heard a howling voice coming from the back.
“Don’t order me around you trash!”
Even though Brad said such, he untied his spear and got in combat stance, quickly adjusting his body to cover the two unconscious classmates as he tried to calm his nerves which were raging under the presence of such thin mana.
Due to the reason that mana was restricted and there was a barrier around the monkey, flaring the emergency torch was not possible since it was also an artifact that required some supply of mana. Therefore, no chance of getting Lisa’s support as well.
***HUFFFF**
The creature huffed before throwing some stone-like orbs in the free air which actively began transforming into small creatures purely made of wood and stone. Those things were about four feet in height and had limbs like a monkey as well.
However, Jin knew these seven mobs were not something to scoff about, since all of them ranked peak E and in such manaless condition fighting them could prove dangerous as well. They might not be able to kill Brad and Dia who have been trained since their childhood in close combat but those two fallen classmates are in grave danger until this veil was separating them from the rest of the world.
“Dia…go and help Brad. You guys hold the ground against the pack as long you can.”
“And what about you? Don’t tell me, you are actually going to fight that thing!”
Dia clutched the hem of Jin’s shirt in a bit of worry and anxiety with her eyes not moving from the giant creature even for a bit. The creature was also glaring back at them as well, but unlike them, the creature had a look of mockery and amusement filling its gaze, tickling Dia’s ego. But she was rational enough to not react foolishly.
“If I don’t fight that guy…do you think we have any chance of getting out of here? Now, move away and give me some space to think.”
Jin’s voice unlike usual sounded stern and left no room for argument only for Dia to bite her lower lip before she nodded while taking out her daggers she jumped toward Brad who already was in the process of fighting the first mob monkey who had dodgeable movements.
**Clang**
Dia parried the slash that one of the mob monkeys threw at Brad’s back, as she flawlessly sidestepped and kicked the approaching monkey right in the gut, making it fall back some meters away. However, the recoil of the kick fell right on Dia’s ankle making her frown slightly.
Brad, in the same manner, twirled his spear making the approaching monster baffled for a second before the blond jumped on his feet and with momentum used his body weight to assault the monkey with a frontal kick, throwing it away before it crashed into the other one.
On the other side, Jin was still steady in his place, staring at the monkey with a solemn gaze as he long calmed his beating heart which was in restlessness because of the sudden appearance of this monstrosity.
But he had been trained for situations like these and knew what he had to do to gain the upper hand.
The Illusion monster rested its long arms on the ground, body tilted forward slightly, intending to lunge at Jin who undoubtedly was the strongest amongst the others, thus targeting him as the primary prey to deal with.
The monster never dropped its killing intent but Jin and the other two have grown accustomed to it already despite being under it for a mere four minutes.
***UGOOO? ***
The monkey tilted its face and scratched its head as it saw its prey dropping its blade seemingly accepting his defeat even without a single clash, making the intelligence-bearing monkey, disappointed. But soon the creature changed its thoughts and dodged to the right, only to see a slim blue missile passing from the space where the creature previously stood.
The spike disintegrated after hitting the ground with a splashing sound but the monkey didn’t stop and continued running around while dodging the barrage of projectiles heading toward it from an unknown source.
‘Shit… ‘
Jin thought he had enough mastery with his spirituality to catch the monkey by surprise but it was a wishful fantasy to deal with a C-rank just with some water missiles when the monstrosity was capable of destroying a whole city all on its own.
Jin was not even sure whether the water missile would even penetrate the thick fur and layers of fat under the monkey’s skin to actually make any impact but the fact that the thing was dodging the attacks actively showed that Jin was at least able to keep it at bay with it.
“#&%@%&&#%#&#”
Jin’s eyes glowed in a faint bluish tinge as his lips let out words that were incomprehensible to everyone around. Not like anyone cared what he said, considering the positions they were in.
His spiritual tongue requested the water spirits to grant him the strength to utilize the power of aqua through his own hands despite knowing he wouldn’t be able to retain the strength for long. But knowing the fact that the creature in front was no wannabe threat but a live death flag, Jin was left with no other option.
[%$%##&@-&&&#]
The spirits responded positively, though concerned for Jin’s safety in response to which, Jin just smiled and felt his muscles bulging slightly and his weight suddenly increasing to the point he had a feeling of being tied to a ship anchor.
***THUMP*THUMP**
His heartbeat rose up along the heavy footsteps of the monster who was now angrily approaching Jin, intending to blow his life in one strong strike. The creature intended to play with its prey but in turn was made to run around like a fool!
***GROOOOO***
The monkey howled, raising its massive forelimb to hammer down on Jin after reaching a decent distance near its prey. Its eyes were filled with murderous intent and the hammer would have certainly killed Jin if, something wouldn’t have changed.
With Jin’s fists and arms covered in pure white ice, he raised his arms to block the attack from the C-ranked monster, before a thunderous roar echoed throughout the region, shaking the ground and startling all the others to stop in track and look toward the source of such heavy war cry.
The dust soon parted and the winner of the first strike was unfortunately…not the human.

A/N: – It is a C-rank so obviously there would be a struggle before the win. The next chapter would be also this long since I want to detail the fight and don’t want to drag it out for long as well.
Anyway, drop a comment.
