Let me be a mob! - Chapter 24- Urge!
“DIE!!!”
Even before hearing the word, Jin knew that the attack and the killing intent Brad was converging in his next assault could take the life of anyone who doesn’t dodge it by any means.
Brad was strong and had the potential to become an S-rank warrior if he would have never been blinded by jealousy or hatred toward the protagonist in the novel. The author has mentioned on several occasions, that Brad could have become a very much required companion of Aiden if not for the arrogance the noble kid carries.
And seeing his immense Mana surrounding his demeanor and sending waves of raw energy all around him made not only Jin but everyone present inside the gymnasium, how powerful the blondie was.
But the problem was the contender who was directed by Brad’s pure rage was someone who didn’t want to gather attention at all by stopping the attack.
Jin had the capability higher than what was recorded in his personal data tab and as such, handling the incoming attack was not something Jin could have found himself struggling in.
However, if he ceases the attack which was directed at the most vital organ, his heart, then his plan to live quietly as a mob would collapse for good.
But he couldn’t dodge the attack as well, since from what Jin perceived, many low-ranking students were standing behind him outside the ring. If Jin were to get away from the trajectory then the after-effect of mana would divinely kill them.
The man was filled with pure negativity and such, the low-ranking E-rankers wouldn’t be able to handle it before collapsing on the ground with their breath taken away. And since they were not on the dojo mat, there wouldn’t be any safety mechanism backing them.
Jin had no freakin idea why the instructors were letting this happen in the first place. Sure Jin might not die from this, but still, there was no definite hope that he would survive taking the strike from the blondie.
‘What to do….should I just let them die… ‘
A thought emerged in Jin’s subconscious as he saw the spear nearing him and was about five meters away from Jin’s left chest plate. He would be impaled if he doesn’t do something about it and dodging the attack would be sufficient to keep the attention on him minimal.
After all, having dead children would be much more attention-grabbing than how a regular nobody dodged a frontal assault, right?
‘Who am I trying to fool… ‘
*****
‘Oh lord… No…. ‘
Fiona’s heart was pounding hard against her chest as she saw the attack Brad approached with, land on its target, and the burst of mana dispersed around, making everyone blinded for a moment.
Maybe it was because Jin was a possibility of being her savior which was making the silver-haired maiden so nervous… or whatever it was. Only one thing Fiona knew and that was, how slowly those few moments went for her when the illumination of mana outburst subdued and the scenery of the ring came into vision.
“!!!”
Just like everyone else, Fiona also had her eyes turned wide apart and lips slightly parted, signifying the utter disbelief she was enshrouded upon witnessing the scene which unfolded on the ring.
She expected that either Jin would get injured or would somehow dodge the attack. Given the killing intent Brad has poured in his assault, Fiona also had to acknowledge that the blow was even lethal for her in true combat.
But never she or anyone present around could have ever expected that not only Jin would not get injured from the attack despite being stable at his same spot, but he would be able to block Brad’s spear, just with his index finger.
Yes, Jin was blocking that ferocious blow with a tiny finger and there was no sign of struggle on the young man’s face at all!
Unbelievable…
Aiden was equally flabbergasted with the result since he never could have thought that someone who scored fifth in the class and was just the same age as him would be able to block such a blow.
And not only, like Aiden, no one felt any defensive spell being cast around Jin either which emphasized what monstrous precision and mana control the boy has.
Jin indeed was a mysterious person, that Aiden had registered in his mind already. And not only him, but mostly everyone in the hall.
“H-How… Damn you!!”
Brad stayed shocked at his spot with his spear tip being halted by an unmovable barrier as it took him time to register, what the actual heck transpired? But when he did realize that his attack was taken so lightly, he cursed out and backed away to prepare his next blow.
But before he could have charged up, one of the referees stepped in and slashed his hand in between the two youngsters and announced the completion.
“Match ends! It’s a draw!”
The hall was silent like never before, staring at the referee like he spoke something purely dumb out of nowhere. Draw? Like heck, it was a draw.
Everyone knew, that the person who could block such a lethal blow without breaking a sweat and moving an inch from his spot, could have won this battle readily.
But Jin had no qualms with the decision as he shrugged his shoulders and walked away.
“Don’t fucking screw with me!!! Hey, you! Come back and fight me!!”
Brad roared as his mana surged once again but the referee standing in the ring, didn’t let the scene elevate any further, and with a simple tap on Brad’s forehead, he made the blondie unconscious.
“Can I go back?”
Jin wanted nothing more than to leave this place since the number of gazes he could feel currently, was nothing compared to what he ever envisioned or desired. He failed yet again…
“Yeah, sure. Your points must have been updated in your tab.”
Jin took out his profile card from his storage ring and found he was granted with hundred points.
He was surprised to see such digits since the amount on average the students were granted amounted to only thirty to forty. But he was not here to complain so with a small smile he left the gymnasium.
*****
Back in the gym, Aiden was gazing at the distancing back of the grey-haired boy who just showed such potential which not only was surprising but proved to be a reality check as well.
Aiden was getting ahead for some time that at his age, he was a prodigy considering the rank he got and such. But the calm demeanor and the way Jin handled things today made Aiden aware of how foolish he was to think himself almighty and such.
Aiden was not sure whether he would have taken Brad’s attack that easily or not and thus, the urge to have a fight with Jin began itching violently inside the raven-haired boy.
‘It seems I would finally get the match I always sought… ‘
******
It took Jin some time but he was able to locate his room which was on a different block.
The building was huge and provided for all top ten rankers of each year. The artifact used to make the rooms of the dorms made it seem small from the outside but it barely signified the massiveness it beheld.
There was a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and also a training ground where all the necessary equipment was stored and ready to be used.
The living room had a comfortable couch where Jin sat after returning from the gym. He was still in his uniform which he changed after showering in the school locker room.
And since he felt comfortable in uniform, he didn’t bother changing and began his meditation for spiritual advancement.
But just as he was about to fall into deep concentration and connect with the spirits, someone knocked on his door, making Jin frown in annoyance.
‘Man….why I can’t get some time alone… ‘
Groaning, he got up and went to open the door, only to have his previous annoyance replaced by surprise…
