Let me be a mob! - Chapter 23- Killing intent?
Student points are the money that replaces the requirement of any other kind of currency in the academy. It can be used to buy any product or service until a student knows where to exchange those points. And since most of the necessities and high-on-demand products are available inside the campus, students do their best to gain as many points as they could.
There are many ways to earn those points. The sources are majorly being aforementioned to the students so they could strive for the best and gain as much as they could. But sometimes students are granted points based on their anonymous actions as well.
However, since Jin was aiming to remain low-key he would not be participating in heroic deeds, therefore he could only rely on the points which are explicitly offered.
This casual spar was one of those events where he could have gained some points and buy his basic necessities which could have proven useful in the upcoming future. Jin needed the points since earning them in another way was quite tedious so this spar was seemingly quite fruitful to him.
Primarily, Jin thought he would be against some mob and he would defeat them after some ‘struggle’ and gain the point in the least flashy manner. However…
‘Why did I end up with him…’
Standing in front of Jin was none other than the infamous noble spoilt kid, Brad who has gained a not-so-mentionable reputation on just the first day of school. And now that noble kid was somehow put against Jin in the spar for some reason.
‘Damn…I nearly forgot…’
Jin suddenly remembered that in the original plot, after being beaten up by Aiden, Brad was destined to spend two days straight in the infirmary. But now that Fiona intervened in the incident, it created a chain effect and thus the blondie was now facing Jin with all the aggression he had.
“Okay then, are the two participants ready?”
Coincidentally, the blue-haired lady who introduced herself as Sasha Williams was the referee of the match between Jin and Brad for some reason. Since Aiden has yet to set out for his match, it was understandable why this lady was here but not with the protagonist.
Sasha was a talent seeker and watching Aiden in action couldn’t prove more beneficial for her, that’s what Jin knows from his past life knowledge. She was here either out of pure boredom or she was interested in either Jin or Brad.
It didn’t help that all the heroines have their match yet to commence or they might have gathered Sasha’s attention, but alas.
‘Let’s get over this…’
Jin wanted the points, undoubtedly, but defeating Brad when he was already at a level to be in the top ten of the student list would be nothing less than eye-catching. He was not desperate for the points so having a defeat here didn’t seem a bad option.
And considering the fierce gaze, Brad was pointing at Jin for quite some time…it would be better if Jin doesn’t make an enemy out of him just now. This school was filled with young masters and Brad was one of those who was destined to become a small leader of them. Having a whole faction against you would not make Jin any different from Aiden.
“Ready, start.”
“Huppp!!”
As soon as the commencement was announced, Brad holding the long spear darted toward Jin with the spearhead pointing at Jin’s left eye. His speed was way above average and taking the factor that he was not using mana as per rules into account, Brad was actually quite good on his feet.
However….
‘He’s slow.’
Jin has been facing a monster in human flesh who far surpasses any of the students and even most of the teachers in this academy so this peak E-rank brat was nothing to stress about given the agility and perception Jin has developed past months.
However, the spear’s head despite being made of wood was directed toward his eye which would hurt like hell if it hits, so without unwanted movements, Jin raised his baton and simply deflected the attack to his right.
*DHAK*
“Woaaaah!””
A slight cheer of awe rose from the audience as Jin casually parried the attack like it was nothing to be felt startled about. The sound of wood clashing at such a short distance created a small gust given the inhumane force Brad had put behind his attack and now he was wide-eyed to be dodged just like that.
‘He’s full of opening…’
Deflecting the attacks revealed Brad’s whole body for him to target and if wanted Jin could have concluded the match then and there with a simple hit in the gut but he decided not to and just simply raised his hand to attack Brad’s head in the speed where Brad would have time to dodge.
“KHAK!”
Raising his hand over his hand, Brad somehow was able to block the incoming attack by blocking the baton with his forearm. Gritting his teeth, the blondie pushed Jin and used the momentum, he also bounced back to take some distance between them.
Jin raised his brows seeing the growing agitation on Brad’s face but there was nothing Jin could do better than this. Lamely losing would also pique the referee’s attention which Jin didn’t desire.
“You…!!”
Brad never thought that some fodder would be able to dodge his one-hit finish blow so casually to the point where it seemed laughable. But here was the boy in front of his eye who was standing all high and mighty like he doesn’t give a fuck about this match at all and was just here out of obligation!
Is everyone taking him as a mere joke!?
“Don’t fucking SCREW WITH ME!!”
Brad’s killing intent rose as his mana surged violently around the hall like a wave of the tsunami, gathering everyone’s attention on this specific ring at that very instance. All the other matches also came to a halt, that much aura was being radiated from this specific blondie.
It was not only because Brad failed to knock some unknown shit out of the ring in one strike. All the aggression he has been pent up with, the humiliation he faced in the morning and the agitation he felt due to the words about him being talked around the school were being poured out and reflecting his persona at the moment.
He ascended to his berserk state by pouring every inch of his stored mana through his pores and channeling them around his body to strengthen himself and end his opponent in the nastiest way possible. Even if his opponent dies, there was nothing to fret about, until Brad can get to release his frustration for the mud his name was bathed in.
“Professor…shouldn’t we stop this…”
One of the referees from the other dojo rushed toward Sasha and whispered in urgency with cold sweat dripping down his head to see the sheer aggression of the mana leaking out of Brad.
Sasha had a pleasant smile on her face as she replied in a curious tone toward the referee.
“No, not now. The attack would not kill Jin Carter from what I believe but even so, if the attack proves to be fatal, the defense mechanism would soon hit and block lethal lasting wounds. So hold your horses and enjoy the show~”
The referee gulped due to her eccentric behavior of Sasha but he didn’t dare to go against her words and stood behind her while staring at the dojo where Brad was all charged up to take the next attack and on the other side, Jin had a complicated expression as he continuously glanced at Sasha time to time.
Even Aiden along with the five girls gathered around the dojo with varying expressions on their faces due to the sheer pressure they were feeling from Brad at the moment. Even Aiden might have sweated in this situation and found it difficult to face the current Brad under normal circumstances.
Then what about Jin…
“DIE!!!!”
With his roar echoing profoundly around the gymnasium, Brad launched toward Jin with a flashing speed that most of the students failed to even follow, leaving a blue and black mana residual in his track as he approached Jin his spearhead pointed at Jin’s heart.
Many of the students already closed their eyes in the fret of seeing blood and gore on just their first day but there was only one person who genuinely worried for Jin beyond what she herself realized.
‘Don’t die just yet…’
