Let me be a mob! - Chapter 18- Miscalculation...
{Dia’s POV:}
In the span of sixteen years of her life, the second princess of the kingdom Intheqar has seen various people who have left a bare and sometimes deep impression on her memory. She has been around so many talents that the minimum requirement to pique her interest has reached a temperamental level.
Can someone blame her when her own siblings were such talented youths who were able to keep their record of being top of the student list in their student days and after graduation they were hailed in the field they chose to hone their skills and prepare for succession?
Dia has seen various talents and has a remarkable memory that she remembered them all. Her friendship with Fiona bonded just because of Dia’s interest in potential but soon Dia realized that Fiona has entered a place in her heart where the princess could not treat the silver-haired girl merely as an acquaintance or a source of motivation.
Fiona, over time, has become a dear sister to Dia whom the princess adored a lot and wanted to protect at all costs whatever it takes from this fake and cunning world.
Naturally, Dia was furious to hear about the incident which took place nearly six months ago when Fiona got kidnapped from under everyone’s nose and was on verge of being molested by that bastard. It was a relief that someone tracked down their location and handled the ugly criminal before he could have left a permanent scar in Fiona’s memory.
Dia has seen how Fiona was smitten by her savior to the point where she began to daydream about him as well. Being friends with Fiona for this long, Dia knew about her fantasies about the silver knight prince and all, so that savior who saved the girl from the molester was nothing short of that prince out of Fiona’s fantasy.
At first, Dia was curious and slightly bit suspicious of this unknown savior who didn’t bother with the rewards he could have gotten by saving Duke’s precious daughter. And also the fact that this savior was someone of their own age as from what Fiona told.
Dia knew how when it comes to boys of teenage, they began to shake in front of real-life threats and since the savior of Fiona by hair and eyes seemed a noble child, him facing the Mamba criminal became all too surprising and impressive as well.
Slowly yet surely, Dia’s interest in this disguised silver prince rose as she herself made effort and used her powers to search for this boy, but to no avail. There was no news of this savior whatsoever. No one saw him again after that day and no clue where did he come from as well.
Dia slowly began to cool down from her search hunt when the entrance day at the Academy neared but once again she was reminded of the boy when suddenly Fiona, just before the physical assessment told about a specific boy who had the same aesthetic and features as her savior.
And surprisingly, that boy with silvery grey hair and icy grey eyes was also present in the same hall as her to give his attribute examination. It was like even Goddess Enirit was herself urging Dia to investigate the boy and assure whether he was the same person Fiona has been dreaming about or not.
And the assessment he gave slowly made her sure that he was no ordinary teenager at all.
First of all, the weighing anklets the instructor gave to the boy whose name she heard to be Jin Carter, were no ordinary ornaments but an artifact whose initial weight begins at around a hundred and twenty kilograms yet the boy easily held it like it meant nothing to him. No sign of trouble or struggle at all! Much like he was used to it.
Not to talk about his fake attitude which he used during the assessment which might have fooled others but not Dia who was sure about one thing.
‘He’s definitely holding back…’
There was no doubt since the boy was sucking up his act every time he tried to show how it was difficult for him to dodge the light orb when he could just easily fend them off as he did with the first one. He purposely began to show that he was having a tough time while facing all those orbs when there was not a drop of sweat on his forehead at all.
It made Dia a little astonished since from what she knows, most of the students do their best in evaluation exams in order to get the best rank and enjoy as much privilege and respect from others as they can. But this guy…
‘As I thought…I have to investigate him…personally…

[Jin’s POV:]
I finished my trial and spent only five minutes and forty-nine seconds in the air while ‘hardly’ defending myself from those attacks. I thought it would be pretty much an average score considering that the people around me were not mere standard humans but someone who has trained themselves to compete here.
To be honest, those weights were nothing compared to what I used to lift in that period under my sensei. She was a damn sadist who loved to see me in pain and agony as she forced me to lift logs over my shoulder to climb mountains to increase my endurance and stamina. Well, at the end of the day, I progressed and she sometimes massaged my body as well which felt extremely good, but it doesn’t change the fact, that my sensei is a hardcore sadist.
If I wanted I could have hovered with those weights in the air for an hour and a half but obviously I was not here to hog the attention that the protagonist was bound to attract.
That was why I acted the best of my efforts and got hit by the orb after a decent time which might or might not put me in the middle of the ranking. Well, getting in the lower ranks was not that bad since I would be able to meet new people who were not introduced in the novel, so it was all good.
Until I remain low-key, everything will be alright…
…or so I thought.
“Okay now the ranking of the physical assessment goes with: –
1. Jin Carter – 5 min 49 sec
2. Dia von Eirienshide- 4 min 33 sec
3. Victoria Ginchwick- 3 min 50 sec
4. Augustine….”
Yeah, I fucked up.

[Assessment Center – 1]
At the same time when Jin was repenting over his blunder, another assessment center could be seen numerous youths lined up who came to be ranked according to their Immersion efficiency.
This particular dome had its roof ripped off and the sun peeked inside the building without any obstruction. The reason was obvious since the Immersion type attribute receives its strength from the sun and so the students are required to be bathed in the light if they want to showcase the best of their talent.
Amongst all of the students who gave their best to subdue as many mechanical opponents as they can in the test, there was a particular boy who completely unmatched every single student by a wide margin.
He did not obliterate all the opponents three times over but he did in such a swift manner that it made the instructor in charge quite flustered as well.
He was like a beast on the battlefield which was entirely 180° from the gentle nature he portrayed before the test with his fellow examinees.
People have already heard about a certain commoner having a five-ranged attribute but seeing him in action made them aware that it was no exaggeration to say, that this boy was nothing short of a monster.
And since he only has shown the talent of his one attribute, the people could suck on cold breath at what tremendous potential he must have up his sleeve which would unfold in the upcoming near future.
The anomaly who was destined to become a leading figure in the future and shine the brightest when darkness would approach.
The sign of Peace and the Devourer of the Darkness.
Aiden Lancelot.
