Let me be a mob! - Chapter 125- Reason
[Aiden’s POV:]
Everything happened in a whirlwind.
The moment our eyes lay on Jin, we saw Fiona falling to the ground—surrounded by her own blood.
Her enthusiasm to see Jin led to such a tragedy, however, in a way, she has saved our lives by preventing Jin from attacking anyone else.
The vast energy I felt for a brief moment from Jin nearly pushed me to summon Excalibur. This sensation was akin to how I felt against the Crimson Witch. Although we had someone like the War Goddess and an experienced S-rank like Professor Lisa with us, in that state it was uncertain what kind of damage Jin might have inflicted.
The fear of losing Fiona helped him regain his consciousness before Jin used some kind of spell to heal all her wounds at once.
But naturally, the damage was enough to render her unconscious, and the injury she received must have left her mental trauma as well—as such she was brought into the castle, and the Queen of this palace said Fiona was being treated by a healer.
The Queen…I hate to say this but even in times of emergency, I found myself lost gazing at her. And it wasn’t just me, but everyone else except for Elena, had a similar reaction.
The fact Jin trusted the Succubus Queen with Fiona signifies various things.
Currently, we all were standing in the lobby and were waiting to hear a positive response from the Healer regarding Fiona.
Dia was inside the room with Fiona along with Silvie—who is also a healer.
Elena and Professor Lisa were chatting about something regarding this realm and the possibility of being ambushed.
Well, it’s justifiable for them to be cautious and curious. Even though I was a little interested in examining my surroundings I held myself and focused on my friend whom I was seeing after almost two weeks.
“You should talk to him. He seems distraught.”
Rena advised me with her gaze directed toward Jin, who was silently standing in front of the door without any emotions on display.
“You think I am the best person for this? Shouldn’t this be done by someone like Dia?”
Dia has a very good connection with Jin, and even though it was not official I feel they might have feelings for each other. If someone then I think Dia should be the best option to console him.
However, “Dia is mentally unstable herself, after witnessing…Fiona in such a state.”
Rena had a point. The way Dia was sobbing back then, it was given that she might need some days to recover from the shock.
“Now, be a man and go. ” Rena pushed me toward Jin.
Surprised, I looked back at her only to find Rena raising her both thumbs and mumbling something like, ‘You got this!’.
I sighed; left with no option.
Slowly making my way towards Jin, I stood beside him before thinking of the best way to start the conversation.
In the end, I felt there could be no perfect method, so I just went with whatever came to my mind,
“You nearly killed her.”
“…thanks for reminding me.”
….okay, that was not what I should have said.
Regardless, now that I have uttered those words, I couldn’t back off, “What happened to you? Why did you seem to be in such a berserk state back then?”
I asked him with my left shoulder pressed against the wall and my attention focused on the guy.
Jin took a sharp inhale before he shook his head with his brows raised, ” I am not sure either…. at that moment, all I could think was, ‘Everyone is my enemy. I need to slaughter them or something. ”
That is a very grave statement to make. I frowned.
“Is it hypnosis?” Being a captive of a demon and having such unnatural thoughts, all I could conclude was some sort of mental influence or maybe manipulation.
However, “I don’t think so…if I have been hypnotized then how can you explain such a strength that defeated an S-rank?”
My eyes drew wide as I asked, ” You defeated an S-rank?!”
I can’t believe that the same person who was nearing C-rank two weeks ago has already reached such a level.
I used to think that my growth in such a short time was unnatural…but this…what in the world does Jin have been doing to gain such a boost?
“I think I can answer your doubts.”
Suddenly, Silvie’s voice helped me break out of my daze, but before I could say anything Jin moved toward her and asked in a slight panic,
“H-How is she?”
“She is doing fine now. All her vitals are in place and the blood loss hasn’t affected her in any way. She just needs to rest for today to recover. ”
Silvie, unnaturally, seemed very calm even after her shoulders were held by Jin.
Silvie’s words seemed to have comforted his psyche as Jin sighed in relief and apologized to Silvie for his impulsive behavior.
“Silvie…do you know anything about Jin’s condition back then?” I asked, finding the opportunity.
“Even I am curious. ”
Every strand of my body suddenly stood straight as I felt a presence behind us, which ushered my whole being to just run away.
Naturally, I couldn’t have done so as we all turned to look at the beautiful woman, standing there with her gaze narrowed.
I clenched and relaxed my fist continuously to stop myself from falling into a daze again. Every time I look at her, something inside me urges me to kneel down and worship the beauty.
Regardless of my inner turmoil, the woman made her way towards Jin and cupped his cheeks. The way the frost disappeared from her personality only to be replaced by concern, made me, baffled.
What is their relationship, anyway?
Jin seemed to have calmed down somewhat before the duo focused on Silvie. Not only them, but Rena along with Professor and Elena also grouped up to heard Silvie’s response.
Naturally, Silvie got nervous, which ushered me to hold her and wordlessly encourage her.
Silvie heaved a big exhale, before she finally revealed,
“When Jin made contact with the Great Spirit Undine, he was already past his second phase of Spirituality. The first phase was when he received the blessings of the Spirits.”
Taking a pause she looked at Jin and said, “And recently, because of some certain reasons, Jin broke his limits of Spiritual medium and trespassed the third stage. If I am not wrong then Jin can now get in contact with the Spirit Queens of the four elements ”
Jin nodded, before replying, “Indeed I can feel their presence….but why did I lose my sanity after the breakthrough?”
Jin was evidently concerned about the state he found himself in, after breaking his limit. If his spiritual path is bound with stages, then surely he would have another breakthrough—signifying that another incident might occur.
Silvie caressed her chin and hummed for a moment, before replying with a tilt of her head,
“Maybe because your soul is still not prepared to take the burden?”
Professor Lisa asked, “Burden of what?”
Silvie turned her focus in her direction for a moment, before refocusing toward her front and mumbling under her breath,
“The burden of becoming the Spirit Lord.”
Turning her attention toward Jin, she added, “Jin…the next stage of Spirituality is the final one. The next time you break your limits, you won’t be able to retain your humanity.”
Hearing such a statement from Silvie, everyone fell silent, including the person involved in this matter.
Hearing such a possibility, I couldn’t help but dryly chuckle inwardly,
‘And I thought, I was a broken character.’
