I was getting bored in the room and Alzeith was also not returning so I took the liberty to leave the room and wander around a bit.

The room where I was told to remain was on the other end of the passage. The palace was huge but this region was the least populated. The food and other necessary items are delivered to my door and no person enters my room other than the queen. And I know the reason why.

My connection with Water and Air spirits was far better than any other elements. The worst connection I had was with Time Spirits. Those beings just don’t respond to my prayers until the situation isn’t too dire.

The Rune Stone which my daughter gave me back in Dungeon City would only absorb my spiritual energy if I could use it. The purpose of that rune stone was to momentarily weaken me when I would be shedding my mortal body and embracing immortality.

The Rune Stone would shatter in that moment and my heart would stop beating. Since I still would be in the middle phase of changing bodies, the sudden collapse of my heart would be a huge blow—which wouldn’t allow me to get blinded by my newfound powers.

‘Haah…’ I sighed. The future looks so unpredictable that being transmigrated doesn’t seem very advantageous now.

“As you heard my lady, the Monarch from East, the Ice Queen has recalled all her forces from the borders and might be launching an all-out attack.”

My feet halted hearing a voice just right around the corner of the lobby. It seems this person was that purple-haired beauty who was also the Prime Minister, currently talking to Alzeith.

I didn’t hide my presence since I knew it was futile and walked toward them.

The Prime Minister narrowed her eyes in complaint while Alzeith flashed a soft smile in my direction.

“Everything fine?” I asked, curious to know what made the atmosphere so heavy.

“Yes. Just some pest is testing my tolerance.”

Alzeith responded as she hooked her arm with mine and leaned her head on my shoulder.

The way the other woman gritted her teeth, I am sure that she thinks of me as nothing more than a piece of trash…who is taking advantage of her lady.

“Then, Your Majesty, I shall take my leave.” The woman bowed and was about to turn around when I called out,

“Can I see that report? If you don’t mind?”

The woman directed a sharp glare at me, however soon her temperament shifted as Alzeith called out,

“Esmer…what did I tell you some hours ago?”

“Ah-haha…excuse my impudence, Lord Jin. Here.” She handed me the paper with a strained smile before bowing again and leaving in a hurry.

“Sorry about that, Yuu. She has a bad experience with humans.”

“Hmm~I can see that.”

I shrugged off. It was no surprise that a demon hates humans. Back in that realm, every human regards demons as their nemesis as well.

I am not affected by this biased thinking and mostly act indifferently toward either race.

My focus currently was converged on the report file given to me. Thanks to the artifact Alzeith gave me, I can speak and read the demon language with ease.

As we walked slowly back to the room I read the report and found myself frowning.

“The Eastern nation is about to attack your empire….without any prior notice or declaration of war. How does that work?”

My question was answered tiredly, “These people don’t know the rules and regulations of war and battles. They aren’t humans after all.”

I raised my brows before asking, “And what’s the reason behind this sudden attack? Revenge?”

I led Alzeith to the bed before putting away the file and standing behind her. My hands went to her shoulder and slowly I began to massage her.

Alzeith’s shoulders relaxed as she responded, “The Frost Queen is running out of her resources and because of the last war between her and the Monarch of Pride, all her treasure is about to go empty.”

“But why you?” I was a little frustrated that despite being the weakest Monarch, the Frost Queen was about to attack Alzeith—one of the strongest Monarchs.

Hearing my query Alzeith leaned her head forward. It looked like she didn’t want to answer, that’s why I told her,

“If you don’t want to-”

“No… it’s not something like that.” She held my hand and urged me to sit beside her.

I complied with her unspoken demand and sat while facing her.

Alzeith’s eyes were not on me but toward our connected hands as she said, “Although I tried to hide it, it seems everyone in the demon realm now knows that I have started to lose my strength.”

My eyes widened, “Huh?”

She looked at me with a sad smile before confirming, “And it’s true, Yuu. I am nowhere as strong as I was when I started my quest to conquer numerous territories and widen my reach.”

“But…why? Is it some kind of curse?” I couldn’t help asking.

Alzeith shook her head in denial before she replied, “I used a blood ritual to gain strength in exchange for my lifespan. The natural way of gaining strength for a succubus is to get into sexual relationships with others and obtain energy through their seed…however, ”

Looking at me with a soft smile she continued, “…how can I have allowed someone else to touch me when I have devoted my body and soul to only you?”

I…now understood what all this was about.

Because Alzeith didn’t want to get into a physical relationship with anyone she used some ritual to gain strength in exchange for her life. And now, her powers have weakened and she is about…

“Aya….how long do you have?” My voice was heavier than I intended it to be. I was thinking about nothing in this world other than Aya right now. Saving my lover was the only motive that remained in my mind.

And for that, I can even slaughter the Demon Lord.
