Chapter 60 – Don’t Lie About Your Feelings
“P-President!!!”
“Hmm? What’s wrong?”
“W-w-w-why is this person here?!!”
“I invited him here. For you.”
“What!? For me?!”
Sakura looked like she would collapse when she saw my face, but she immediately got up and went straight to the living room. I asked Shiori to explain the situation. Shiori answered honestly, which made Sakura even more confused. I followed her to the living room and explained the details instead.
“Apparently you called my name in your sleep.”
“What?!? There’s no way I called Senpai’s name!!!”
“…You’re so full of energy in the morning. You should go wash your face first. You’re ruining your pretty face.”
“Ahh… Just… get out of the way!!!”
Sakura pushed me aside and headed towards the sink. Did she really call my name? Honestly, I still can’t believe it…
“…I guess she hates me after all.”
“Maybe so. But maybe that’s a good thing, too? She was closing herself off, but with you, she’s showing her emotions openly. Besides, it doesn’t seem to me that she hates you entirely. Now, if you understand, help me bring this over. It’s just the classic bacon and eggs, but you like it, right?”
“…I love it.”
While Sakura was washing her face, I set breakfast on the table. Just as I’d finished setting it up, Sakura came over and we sat down to eat.
“It’s so delicious…”
“Of course, I made it. What do you think, Sakura-chan?”
“…It’s delicious.”
“Hehe, of course!”
Shiori looked pleased that Sakura had praised her cooking skills. I was hungry too, so I continued to eat, but I couldn’t help but worry about the current situation.
The three of us were sitting down for breakfast in the morning. It’s as if…
“It’s as if we’re like a family.”
“”Hmph…!!?””
Shiori suddenly said that as she watched Sakura and me eating, causing both of us to burst out.
“D-d-d-d-don’t say weird things like that, President! Who would be with such a terrible man?!”
“Shiori… You…”
“Sorry, I just blurted out what I was thinking.”
“Ugghhh… nom, nom, nom… Thanks for the meal!”
Sakura blushed again at Shiori’s sudden remark, shoveled the rest of her breakfast into her stomach in one go, and left the living room.
“…See, you made her angry.”
“Does Reo think she’s angry?”
“No matter how I look at it, Sakura’s angry. She probably won’t come out for a while.”
“No, she’ll come out. Because her smartphone is right here.”
Shiori pointed to Sakura’s smartphone, which was still up on the table, and smiled. It must be hard for modern day kids without their phone.
As Shiori and I finished washing the dishes, just as predicted, Sakura came back sulking and said, “…I’ll help,” and started helping with the cleanup.
After that, the three of us spent the day lazing around without doing anything. We turned on the TV randomly and chatted about trivial things. We tried not to mention Kaede at all, and decided to go on the day normally and relax. According to Shiori, “This is how it should be.”
“Ah, right, Reo. Can you make dinner?”
Around this time, as it was getting close to evening, and Shiori asked me to prepare dinner.
“Okay… Do you have any requests?”
“Curry. Reo, you’re good at cooking, right? I’ll leave dinner to you. My parents will eat the leftovers, so you can make a lot.”
“Alright, alright…”
“Ah, um!”
As I reluctantly headed toward the refrigerator, having been tasked with an important job, Sakura suddenly called out to me.
“I’ll help too.”
“…Okay. I’ll count on you then.”
Sakura probably wanted to show her appreciation for everything Shiori had done. Happy to accept Sakura’s offer, I decided we would make curry together.
And then, at dinner…
“So, what do you think, Shiori…?”
“…I-is it tasty?”
“Yeah. It’s really delicious.”
““Thank goodness…””
Sakura and I breathed a sigh of relief at Shiori’s words of praise. It was the first time I’d cooked for Shiori’s parents, and for Sakura, it was a way to show her gratitude. I would never have been able to recover if Shiori had said it tasted bad.
And so, the three of us, feeling a little closer than we were in the morning, ate dinner together, and afterwards we decided to take turns bathing.
“Don’t drink the leftover water!!!”
“I won’t. What do you think I am?”
“Reo. Don’t peek.”
“Shut up.”
At Sakura’s request, she and Shiori decided to take a bath together. It was probably one of those “bonding experiences” where they’d have a chance to talk about things only girls could share.
I guess I’ll leave it to Shiori.

(Fujita Shiori’s POV)
“How is it, Sakura? Any itchy spots?”
“No… It feels nice…”
“I see. That’s good then.”
At night. Sakura asked me to take a bath with her. I washed her head and body, and we soaked together in the bathtub. I knew there was something she wanted to talk about, but I kept the conversation light, sticking to small talk.
Despite this, Sakura showed no sign of bringing up what was on her mind. Just as I was thinking it might be time to get out, she grasped my hand and started to speak.
“…Why is Ibuse-senpai here?”
“I already said it this morning, it’s because Sakura-chan called out his name.”
“That’s not what I mean… It’s just… You two seem really close… You’re using each other’s first names…”
“Oh… I see, you didn’t know.”
Come to think of it, I haven’t told her. I didn’t mean to hide it, but it’s not something I felt needed to be made public. But since she asked, I should answer.
“I’m dating Reo. Of course, Akari-chan and Nanami know too.”
“…Ehh???…What?!”
Sakura stood up vigorously after I told her. Water splashed on my face, but it was a minor issue compared to me and the others’ relationship with Reo.
“Uh… um… I don’t get it… That feels really…wrong somehow… So…two-timing? No, three-timing?”
“Ahaha… I suppose that’s a natural reaction. My parents were just as shocked.”
“……Eh!? You told them on purpose?!”
“Of course. Reo insisted.”
At the end of summer holiday, Reo got down on the ground and begged my parents. He did the same to Akari-chan’s parents and Nanami’s too. He could have kept it all hidden, but he said he didn’t want to be a true scumbag.
“My father yelled at him, saying, ‘I can’t give my daughter to a man like you!’ But Reo kept bowing his head, showing that he was serious.”
“I see…”
After hearing this, Sakura-chan started thinking and got back into the bathtub. I decided to hold her close to me.
“Eh…?!!”
“…Hey, Sakura-chan. Do you hate Reo?”
“…I hate him! I really hate him!”
“I see… Then don’t regret it.”
If she truly feels that way, then who am I to question her feelings? Besides, Reo doesn’t seem to have any special feelings for Sakura-chan either, so it’s no good to tease her too much.
However… I don’t want her to regret it.
“Don’t lie to yourself about your feelings. If you’re honest with him, I’m sure he’ll give you a proper answer.”
“……”
“…Sorry. Shall we get out now?”
Perhaps I said too much, seeing as Sakura-chan went silent. We then decided to leave the bathtub before we got too hot.
