ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
The athletes from the sports department who appeared on the dust-blown field rolled up their short sleeves to their shoulders to show off their bodies. Dressed in tight bloomers that looked as if they might ride up, they exposed their well-trained muscles.
Their physiques bulged with power, and just by striking a pose, they intimidated their opponents. In contrast, the girls from the academic department, though they lacked the muscles of the sports department girls, each possessed a beauty that rivaled their athletic counterparts.
The feminine curves, the toned waistlines, and the long, slender legs—all showcased a different kind of physical beauty than that of the sports department. Their gym uniforms seemed to embody elegance rather than brute strength.
“Athlete’s Oath! In the Aoba High School Sports Festival, we pledge to compete fairly and honorably, according to the rules! Athlete representative, Reika Toudou! Mastery of both academics and athletics is the true path!”
Reika-san, who ascended the podium to give the athlete’s oath, was stunning. Her gym shirt was lifted by two proud mounds, and the fact that she was wearing bloomers despite not being from the sports department, made her figure stand out even more.
When Student Council President Reika Toudou finished her oath, a roar erupted from nearly three thousand girls:
“““““““““““UOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!”””””””””””
Their battle cries shook the air. The enthusiasm of the gathered girls was at an all-time high, hotter than ever before.
“Hey, is this really a high school sports festival?”
“Yeah. Well, even I’m a little scared, to be honest.”
The sight of rows of girls stretching out behind the few boys at the front was nothing short of overwhelming. Regardless of year, they all seemed to be here for one reason, the Men’s Cheer Team. Of course we couldn’t help but to be intimidated by the sheer pressure.
“For now, let’s just focus on doing our job.”
“Right. What’s first?”
“Table tennis.”
“Alright, let’s go.”
The four of us were given permission to move freely since we had prep work to do. However, once we stepped out, for some reason, groups of girls began following us.
“Uh, weren’t there supposed to be a lot of girls watching the boys’ events?”
“That’s what I thought too… Haha, this is kind of crazy.”
I had no idea how many were trailing behind us, but when we entered the first gymnasium, where the table tennis matches were being held, the girls flooded into the stands and open spaces. All of them were trying to get a better view.
“Hey, isn’t this kind of dangerous?”
“Yeah, a bit. But I’m sure—”
“Silence!!!”
Before Seiya could finish, Minase-senpai, the third-year swimming team captain, appeared and used a megaphone to issue a command that echoed through the gym.
“We are the disciplinary officers for the Sports Festival! Entry into the first gymnasium is limited! Competitors have priority! Anyone who isn’t a participant or a designated supporter must leave the gym immediately!”
Each athlete was allowed one supporter to assist them.
“If we find anyone here who isn’t a competitor or a supporter, their class will receive a penalty. I trust you all can imagine what kind of treatment you’d get from your classmates.”
Upon hearing Minase-senpai’s words, the girls who had filled the upper stands reluctantly began filing out of the gym.
“Now then, cheer on the competitors to your heart’s content!”
Once Minase-senpai coolly took control of the gym, Youhei started the music. In rhythm with the beat, Hayato took the lead and began to dance. He’d gotten really good at the cheer routines. Watching the bespectacled Hayato move with such sharp precision was impressive.
“““HAH!!!”””
The three of them shouted in unison and struck a pose.
I spotted Ichika and Kaho-senpai among the table tennis players, so I sent them a supportive glance as we cheered. Though some of the girls seemed more interested in watching us than the matches, the tournament itself was progressing smoothly. Since we couldn’t stay too long at any one venue, we usually only performed one or two songs before moving on. That was why we alternated between dancing and singing to keep the energy going.
“So, where are we headed next?”
For some reason, Minase-senpai decided to tag along. And what bothered me the most was…
“Minase-senpai… Why are you wearing a swimsuit?”
Right. When she appeared earlier, she’d been wearing a racing swimsuit. It was strange. Everyone else was in gym clothes, yet she alone was in swimwear.
“Hm? I’m in the swimming club. Isn’t it normal for me to wear a swimsuit?”
She looked genuinely puzzled, as if wondering why I would even ask such a question. I gave up trying to reason with her. It was exhausting.
Our next stop was the second gymnasium, where the volleyball matches were being held.
“Thank you for coming.”
We were greeted by none other than Student Council President Reika Toudou herself, her magnificent, rocket-like chest proudly on display.
“Uh, thank you for having us.”
“Fufufu, short sleeves and shorts today, I see… How cute.”
It was the first time I’d seen Reika-san since the summer training camp, and the memory of that kiss came flooding back. My eyes involuntarily went to her lips.
“Fufufu. Yoru-kun, please cheer for me today, alright?”
She leaned in so close that her chest brushed against me as she spoke, and I could feel the air in the gym grow hotter as the murderous intent from the surrounding girls intensified.
“We’ll be cheering for everyone equally.”
Seiya quickly interjected, sensing the tension. But once the match began, it became nearly impossible to focus. Her perfect figure, with those twin peaks bouncing like volleyballs themselves, made it hard to know where to look!
Even with Hayato singing beside me, I couldn’t focus at all. Reika-san turned out to be quite athletic, too. Her third-year team was on a roll, sweeping through their opponents with ease. Every time she spiked the ball, three of them bounced, throwing everyone off their rhythm.
From Class 1-A, Kizuki-san, Mogami-san, Houjou-san, and Amamiya-san were competing, but they had already lost in the first round.
